CH 59

“Kashiwagi-san! I’m sorry, let me hide here for a moment—!”

“—Huh?”

Running away from the female nurses, I opened the door to Kashiwagi-san’s examination room.

With a loud sound of something being shattered, Kashiwagi-san looked at me with wide open eyes and exclaimed in shock.

This was understandable since… Kashiwagi-san was currently in the middle of changing her clothes.

To be exact, she was in the middle of putting on a skirt…

She and I stared at each other for a moment, and time stood still…

“S-sorry!”

When I came to myself, I closed the door and quickly turned my back and apologized.

“I-it’s fine! I’m almost done getting dressed anyway!”

“No, it’s totally my fault… I’m so sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. I’m quite satisfied with your body, I mean, I have seen it many times for the purpose of treatment. Nevertheless, I thought I had locked the door properly… ”

I bow my head once again with my back to Kashiwagi-san.

“Apparently I broke the lock when I opened the door…”

I heard Kashiwagi-san sighing over my back.

“You should be a little more careful. In your case just living a normal life requires a little restraint. You can turn around now, I’ve finished dressing.”

I turned around slowly.

Kashiwagi-san was sitting with her legs crossed, biting on a Ramune with a forced expression on her face, trying to act tough even though her face was bright red.

She seemed embarrassed, even though she was an experienced beautiful doctor.

I guess it’s because she was still young, a high school student.

Kashiwagi-san coughed loudly and then hesitantly asked,

“Uh… I think I just barely managed to put on my skirt. By the way, did you… ‘see’ anything?”

“No! Not at all! I didn’t see anything!”

“Well… I’m just— no, it’s nothing.”

Kashiwagi-san replies with an indescribable expression on her face.

She is not a very emotional person, so it is possible that she is very angry inside.

No, she must be angry.

“So… why did you come to my office so early?”

“Actually, I couldn’t sleep last night, so I was cooling off on a bench in the courtyard and fell asleep, and when I woke up, the nurses were worried about me and chased me around. So I took refuge here…”

As I explain the situation, Kashiwagi-san’s eyes suddenly become sharp.

“I see, I’ll warn them not to get too close to Yamamoto.”

“Well, I don’t think you have to go that far…”

“Yamamoto, do you have your room properly locked?”

“What? Uh…well, I don’t lock it when I go to the bathroom or something, but otherwise I usually keep it locked.”

“Is that so? You should make sure to lock it. This may be a hospital, but this is America, it can be dangerous.”

“Does Kashiwagi-san have a negative image of America? Certainly, I don’t want people to go through my luggage without my permission…”

“Forget about that, let’s start talking. Since you came so early, let’s talk about your progress. It looks like it will take about three more months. If there are no abnormalities, you can be discharged and return to Japan.”

“Really! It’s sooner than I thought! But it will be lonely to say goodbye to you, Kashiwagi-san…”

When I muttered this, Kashiwagi-san tilted her head curiously.

“What are you talking about? I’ll go with you, you know?”

“Huh?”

“Of course, I’m here to cure your disease. Once your illness is cured, there will be no reason for me to stay here. I plan to take the data I obtained from you back to Japan and produce the medicine after I receive approval.”

Kashiwagi-san says it as if it’s nothing, and I stayed puzzled.

“Wait, wait a minute! Do you plan to leave this hospital?! Kashiwagi-san, you have a pretty high position here though…”

“But that’s just another position I’ve taken in order to be free to research hypertrophy. It’s a prestige I don’t need.”

“… Maybe I’m… ruining Kashiwagi-san’s life?”

“What are you saying now?”

Kashiwagi-san took out a Ramune cigarette and pushed it into my mouth.

“You treated my life like this.”

[Postscript]

Probably, Kashiwagi-san was wearing her lucky underwear.
