Chapter 30 - On The Road
"Boris, it's heading toward you!!"
The boar ran toward Boris. To stop it, the ex-special forces soldier swung the saber Viktor had previously given him.
Swish!
Although Boris was skilled, the mutated boar was simply too fast. Among everyone here, Viktor was the only one who could match its speed.
Viktor was readying himself to go after the boar when it suddenly changed directions and charged toward Boris.
"Watch out!!" Torri shouted from the distance.
The mutated boar was almost as big as his body. Furthermore, there were also its two large tusks to worry about. With those two factors combined as well as how fast it was charging at him, Boris knew that he would not be able to face it head-on no matter what.
Following his experience as an ex-special forces soldier, Boris ran toward the nearest tree as fast as he could for protection.
However, the boar kept charging at him.

The tree was not ideally thick, but it was still shocking to see the monster break through it. Caught off-guard, Boris was hit by the mutated boar and thrown 10 meters away.
"Boris!!!"
Torri, the other Russian bodyguard, pulled his normal dagger out and rushed to help, but Viktor was much faster. Before Torri could take more than a step forward, Viktor swiftly pierced the mutated boar's head with the special dagger.

Torri was surprised.
When did his young master become so powerful?
It was not that he thought of Viktor as a weakling. There was no way that the young master of the Romanov family did not receive any training, so that was definitely not the case.
It was just that, even he, who was specially trained to be a part of the special forces, would not be able to catch up to that speed even if he were at his maximum.

"He broke a bone, master. We need to find a place to treat him properly," Torri said to Viktor after checking Boris' injury.
"Wounded by a pig… This is embarrassing…" Boris said with a dry laugh.
"You big bear, stop talking… you will only hurt yourself," Torri said while bandaging his wound with care.
It did not take the group long before they found an empty house nearby to stay in.
The group had been walking not too far from the main road, hence there was at least one house every few miles.
The purpose was, of course, to make sure that they would not accidentally venture too deep into the forest. This was not only so that they would be able to find cover quickly, but also avoid much stronger predators at the same time.
When they reached the empty house, Barry quickly lit up the fireplace inside for warmth while Eva made hot coffee for all of them to drink.
Viktor took out the spirit stones they got from half a day of travel.
"We got three stones today."
In total, they successfully killed two dozen zombies, three rabbits, and a boar today.
Viktor was not sure whether they were fortunate or unfortunate. On one hand, they did not encounter any high-level monsters, but on the other hand, they did not find that many spirit stones either.
If he had known about these spirit stones before, he would have asked his men to go through the zombie horde around the bunker at that time.
Come to think of it, no wonder Andrei's team took so long when they went over the zombie corpses. There were over a thousand zombies at that time, so checking them one by one would require a lot of time.

"All right, we will rest here today and continue tomorrow when Boris at least gets a little better," Viktor said and walked out of the house.
After he made sure that nobody was around, he began speaking to the Djinn.
"Do you know anything about it? What was that about!?"
Viktor asked with his voice lowered. He was referring to those spirit stones.
<It's the pure essence of energy. Your world is currently flourishing with them... this is fate at work!>
"What!? Are you saying that the apocalypse is fate's work?"

Just as he was about to complain, Viktor heard weird flapping sounds from the distance getting closer. It seemed that the Djinn also noticed it as he warned him to go inside.
"What the hell is that?" Viktor muttered under his breath.
<Something you can't win against at the moment.>
The Djinn did not elaborate.
Following the Djinn's warning, Viktor went into the room and put out the fire. He walked toward Eva and they warmed themselves together behind the blanket.
At the moment, they should be far enough from Andrei's team, so they did not have to think about them, but with their current condition, Viktor was worried that they would not be so lucky tomorrow and it will be much worse if they met a stronger monster.
His [All Might] skill had its limitations, so he could not use it casually without having someone else to protect him during the drawback period.
With this in mind, Viktor decided that tomorrow, he would go hunt by himself first and get some more spirit stones for the others before continuing their journey.
