Chapter 108 - The Stairs

"Welcome to Doomsday Pillar!"

Said Jessie while raising both of her hands to the air as the group had arrived in this strange palace.

It was a dark hall with a capacity that could hold a few hundred people.

Viktor was sure that the room was bigger than the actual diameter of the construct from the outside. He might find it easier to believe if he was actually being teleported to a different place.

There were a few other people there, with half of them were sky realm people, and they were all staring at Viktor and the group for a second before returning to do their own stuff.

Jessie led them to the center of the room where they could see two huge block cubes, which appeared to be standing in front of a large staircase.

When the group approached the center, Jessie started to explain to them about the pillars with her usual cheerful self.

"So here are the basics you need to know about the pillars."

This pillar proved that there was an advanced life out there and the world believed that the pillars had been sent to help humans in dealing with the apocalypse,

Here, survivors could purchase artifacts, weapons, armor, guns, and even the energy barrier that was used to protect the Arkhangelsk town.

On top of all that, the pillars were also equipped with a facility to train new skills and even a place to treat wounds.

"It's like a mall, a school, and a hospital all in the same place. Everything is available as long as you have spirit stones to pay," she added.

Hearing this, Viktor could not help but feel helpless. It was embarrassing to know that the son of the richest family in Russia doesn't even have one stone on him.

He wished that the magic lamp hadn't taken all of his spirit stone from his hunt. Those hundreds of leopard seals would have provided him with hundreds of stones.

Jessie then continued to explain that there were 90 levels of the pillars with 90 stairs in total, in which every 20 levels, there would be a higher tier facility: level 20, 40, and 60.

However, using the tier facility was not as simple as it appeared, since in order to open and obtain access to the facility, there would be challenges to overcome at each level, powerful beings to be clear.

When Viktor heard this, he was a little surprised. He could not help but stop and interrupted.

"What the fu*k? Real aliens inside this place?"

Jessie was chuckle seeing Viktor reaction and replied

"You wish, don't you? No, no. You won't find an oversized head alien in here. Instead, you will find orcs, goblins, and trolls. Actually, they are not real. We believe the pillars created it by magic, a facility to train. The great thing is when you kill the monsters you will be able to absorb its power," she explained.

Jessie's explanation just now made Viktor comment in his mind to the Djinn.

"Just like what happened with us, isn't it?"

<It's a little different, but you could say that>

"So do you know about all of this, Djinn?"

<I heard about it, but I guess these Doomsday Pillars were quite new for me>

"I see, this is like a computer and you are an antique... I understand now," Viktor replied, trying to make fun of the Djinn. The Djinn, on the other hand, just calmly replied,

<It's not wrong. You do know that antiques are priceless, don't you?>

"Nicely said, Djinn"

All of this was fascinating to hear, and Eva, Barry, and the two bodyguards found it hard to believe if they didn't see the wonder of the place themselves.

Jessie went on to say that after two years, no one actually ever made it to the top. The majority of the pillars in the vicinity of the big city have reached level 60 or so, while the less popular pillars like this one, have only reached level 40 ish.

"Only 60? Even with a group of hundreds of sky realms?" asked Viktor. He did not expect that to succeed in reaching the top level of the pillars would be as difficult as it turned out to be.

Jessie looked at Viktor with a smile on her face and shook her head as a response. She then continued by saying,

"High peak Sky realm is only strong enough to fight up to level 60."

Viktor was stunned for a split second when he realized that not even the most powerful sky realm had been able to go beyond the level of sixty. However, it was not impossible to reach the higher level as the word only served to confirm that there were actually more powerful figures than sky realms, and Jessie said the words.

"Saint realms!" she exclaimed.

"After 2 years of apocalypse, there are about 100 of the saints. Russia only has 8 of them the last time I checked."

At the mention of this, Viktor did not appear to be really excited. Instead, he was more concerned to feel threatened. Because of his current strength, he wasn't too afraid to meet a low or mid-level sky realm as he believed in his ability that he could handle them.

However, it's a different story now that he learned that there was an even stronger one. Knowing the fact that he could meet figures who were way more powerful than him, only made him feel anxious once again.

Fortunately, the positive side was that he seemed to feel challenged to immediately upgrade his skills. After all, he was already in this pillar, so he thought that he should exploit the place to get some items and strengthen himself before going to the city. For the time being, that's the best plan.

"Alright, let's go!"

Viktor was ready to go up the stairs and upgraded himself. Jessie, on the other hand, could not help but chuckle when she saw Viktor who looked to be in such a hurry to go to the next floor.

"Take it easy, tough guy. There are things to do on this floor first," said Jessie, reminding him not to rush to proceed to the next level before completing the challenges on this floor.

"Ahh, I see."

Viktor then stepped back towards Jessie and the exact moment that he had come close enough to the young lady, Jessie softly touched his arm, raised his left arm, and touched the alien bracelet that was attached to his arm.

"So I guess this bracelet was taken from someone else?" Jessie inquired.

No doubt, the girl really was sharp as she could instantly know that it was the bracelet he took from Andrei's corpse. Apparently, the girl's sudden guess had successfully made Viktor stunned for a moment.

She looked at him with a sharp gaze, and said, "did you kill the owner?"
