CH 9

Surprise! Bonus chapter to enjoy the long weekends.

“Enough of the useless chatter. He had admitted himself as the culprit. I did not invite you here today to listen to your nagging. You had been called over to watch and observe what would become of him.”

A dreadful expression could be seen on Su Liang’s face. He cried repeatedly in a panic-stricken state.

“No, don’t do this! Xiao Jin, I am your brother too. Can’t you just spare me? I’ve really learned my lesson. I did it because I had no other choice. If I don’t pay off the gambling debts, they will break my legs. I had no other way. Mom and Dad, hurry up and save me!”

Hearing this confession directly from Su Liang, the spectators looked at him in disdain.

For someone who was afraid that his legs would be broken, he turned someone into a scapegoat to replace himself. That’s way too vicious.

There were clear feelings of repulsion on the village chief’s face. As he firmly knocked on his wooden cane, he pointed his fingers towards Su Liang in anger and scorned him. “Su Liang, you… you are so heartless! How could you do such a vicious thing? Su Dalang is your brother!”

Qin Shi clung onto the doorframe. Her fingers were digging hard as she tried to suppress her anger.

No matter how much they bullied and cursed her in the past, she chose not to make a fuss out of it for her late husband. However, Su Liang had crossed the line and brought harm to her son! If it weren’t for the fear of interfering with Xiao Jin’s plans, she would have killed him with her own hands. She would not let them go so easily this time.

Wang Shi crawled up to Su Liang and hugged him. She begged the village chief for mercy.

“My son has learnt from his mistake. He has been an obedient child since young. There will not be a second time, please spare him. We will pay back the money, I swear!”

She feigned her anger and turned to Su Liang, pretending to throw hard punches at him. “Who taught you to gamble? You think I dare not beat the hell out of you? Wake up your idea and apologize quickly…”

Su Jin sneered at this scene and said, “You can stop hitting……”

Hearing this, Wang Shi heaved a sigh of relief and was satisfied with her tact in resolving the situation. She was just about to comply obediently with Su Jin’s suggestion when she turned her head back.

But what was waiting for her was the scene of Sanye and the others still glaring at them in anger. She swallowed a mouthful of saliva and proclaimed honourably.

“Do not dissuade me, Su Jin. For the misdeeds that he had committed, I must beat him to death!”

As she said this, she raised her fists dramatically, but swung it down on her son without much force behind it.

Su Jin snickered, “I was just trying to be considerate of you. Isn’t it tough on your hands to continue beating him like this?”

After giving that cynical remark, Su Jin picked up a hoe beside her and handed it over with a smile. “This hoe might be just an ordinary one, but it is potent enough to beat the brains out of the target. Just concentrate your aim here and give it a swing for guaranteed results! It’s surprisingly handy. Don’t you think so too?

The expression on Wang Shi’s face distorted immediately. She looked at Su Jin in disbelief as the hoe was forcefully handed over to her. She hoped that she could drop the performance and tear Su Jin to pieces at once. Although her body was shaking in anger for a while, there was no proper response. “You… you……”

On the other hand, Su Erniu managed to get back on his feet with the support from his surroundings. He endured his resentment and desire to curse Su Jin and said with a frown,

“After all, we are still relatives, and relatives should not be talking about spilling blood. Xiao Jin, even for the standards of a lass who ran away from home, that’s too unbecoming of you.

You just returned, but you dare to disrespect your elders. I will ignore it this time. Your brother has acknowledged his mistake, and we will help solve the debt problem. From now on, keep a low profile and lead a humble life. A girl shouldn’t wander around and create trouble.”

Su Erniu pretended to be standing on the moral high ground, giving life lessons to the younger generation, and conveniently sweeping the fact that Su Dalang’s leg had been broken due to the actions of his son under the carpet.

System#2250 was fuming with anger as it refuted. “Argh, this old bastard… Damn it, my blood is boiling up.”

Despite being a human, the chain of logic behind Su Erniu’s words was closer to that of a beast.

The system impatiently prayed for Su Jin to smack some senses into the old fool……

Hearing the contemptuous remark, Qin Shi, who had endured for a while, raised the wooden club in her hand and swung it at Su Erniu.

“Dream on! My son had his leg broken. Do you think you can dismiss this matter like that? Not a chance in hell! I will make him pay the price, even if I have to risk my life!”

Afraid that her mother would hurt herself, Su Jin quickly ran to pull her back.

She turned to Sanye and ordered in a cold voice, “Take both his legs! Right now!”

Because her elder brother lost a leg, it’s only fair if Su Liang lost both of them!

Hearing this, Su Liang’s parents widened their eyes in surprise and anger. “Su Jin, how dare you! You bitch! If you break my son’s legs, I swear I’ll kill you!”

Before they could finish their words, a miserable scream rang through the whole yard.

Sanye had long been waiting on standby for Su Jin’s command. As soon as the order was given, he did not hesitate. With a sneer, two wooden clubs ruthlessly smashed into Su Liang’s legs.

“No, my son! My precious son!! You demons!!! I will make you pay with your lives! I will report this to the magistrate’s court and get all of you imprisoned! Aah! My child!”

Wang Shi almost lost her mind as she stared at Su Jin with venomous eyes. However, she did not have the courage to take a step forward.

Su Erniu was shocked too, and could not accept the fact that his son had been crippled.

He grabbed a rock on the ground and dashed forward in an attempt to smash Su Jin’s head.

Su Jin shook her head slightly and thought that she had been too lenient on them. As expected, people will not learn to behave if they were not beaten into conformity. With a backhanded swing, she grabbed Su Erniu by his head and smashed it on the ground repeatedly.

“Bang! Bang! Bang!”

An unused head is best donated to others who need it!

Since Su Erniu enjoyed smashing heads, Su Jin would satisfy his wish by smashing his head to his heart’s content!

When his head was lifted from the ground, it was covered in fresh blood.

The people in the surrounding area were at a loss for words. When did the daughter of the Su family become so savage?

Could it have been caused by a traumatic experience she had outside?

In fact, even Su Jin herself noticed that she was different from usual. Not only did her body feel tired easily, but also her temperament had changed. The incidents today had blown her fuse more easily than usual.

She could hardly resist the impulse to throw those people into the mouths of wild beasts.

Terrified by Su Jin’s cruelty, no one dared to go near her. Except for the village chief who was worried that someone might die. He spoke up hesitantly,

“Um… Young lass from the Su family, you should have done enough to consider letting the matter rest. Su Liang had already paid the price for this. No matter what, Su Erniu and Wang Shi are still your elders. Even though he was first at fault, you have taught him a lesson. Is it time to stop?

For the time being, the main consideration should be to find a good doctor to treat Su Dalang’s leg. Maybe there’s still a way to save……”

Except for the last sentence, everything the village chief said was ignored. Su Jin thought with a deep frown… finding a good doctor.

She turned her eyes to Sanye’s group and asked in a cold tone. “Do you know any capable doctor? Go and get one. If my brother’s leg is cured, I will let the matter rest. Otherwise, you guys can forget about living a quiet life from now on.”

“Great-Aunt, this is all a misunderstanding on our part. But rest assured, we will do everything we can for Su Dalang’s leg. You can count on us.”

As he spoke, several of his subordinates hurried towards the nearby town. They recalled that there was a long-established clinic in that town which had experience treating broken legs.

“System, you can keep track of those people, right?”

“Apologies, my Host… I… have a limited tracking radius of one mile. I ran out of points and am pretty much useless for now.” The voice of the system became softer and fainter, as thought it had shrunk into a corner.

Su Jin: “……”

A mile is a mile. She will take it. If this little idiot had good abilities in the first place, it would not have fallen into its current predicament.

Sometimes she couldn’t help but wonder… Did this system come to her because no one else wanted it?

Not that it matters anymore. In any case, those men did not have the courage to run away. They could run away from her temporarily, but they couldn’t escape forever. An insightful person like Sanye definitely understands this concept.

Seeing that Su Jin had taken his words into consideration, the village quickly dispersed the crowd of onlookers, retaining only a few people to stay behind and help carry Su Erniu and Su Liang away.

He was worried that if they stayed any longer, new accidents might happen. It was clear to him that the young lady Su who had returned had changed. She became quite intimidating. He could only pray that there would be no disturbances.

Haa… Why did it turn out like this? The job of a village chief sure is rough.

Su Jin quietly watched as the crowd scattered. She made a thorough assessment of the place which will be her home from now on.

The house had three bedrooms, a kitchen which had been designed for keeping sundries, and a pretty spacious yard.

In the center of the yard was a huge broken vat. There were several small plots of land in the corner of the yard, where all kinds of vegetables were planted. The vegetable sprouts had been trampled all over. After all, the Su family had just experienced a turbulent event and everything was in a mess.

Su Jin pursed her lips, bent down, and slowly cleaned up the place where she stood. It seems that the top priority on her to-do-list was to find a way to improve the living standards of the family.

“Little Jin, can your brother’s leg really be cured?”

“Don’t be afraid, Mom. If the doctor here couldn’t cure it, we’ll find a better one. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.” Su Jin gently massaged Qin Shi on the back as she consoled her.

“Jin-er, could you share the story of your journey with mom. Where have you gone to, why only now…?” Qin tugged Su Jin’s hands lightly.

Su Jin tried to speak, but she didn’t know where to begin. What should she have said? That she was not the original owner of this body? That the original owner left because of her desire for status and wealth?

There were traces of anxiety on the wrinkled face of Qin Shi. She was worried that her daughter would ask questions about her birth. Seeing that Su Jin hesitated to answer, she withdrew her question. “Never mind, it is fine. Mother will not dig into the matter. As long as you have decided to come back, mother is happy.”
