Chapter 16 - Liu Yuqing's Determination! Forced to Take Action!

Chapter 16: Liu Yuqing’s Determination! Forced to Take Action!Facing the four security guards and the two remaining survivors who were charging at him aggressively, Jiang Cheng’s lips curled into a slight smile. Without any hurry, he tossed the nail gun onto a nearby sofa and pulled out a short knife to meet them.

At the same time, Liu Yuqing, who had been hiding nearby with Jiang Cheng, suddenly rushed out.

Though her movements were not yet very agile, she tightly gripped the watermelon knife and, with a sudden strike, managed to wound the two survivors who passed by her.

“Ah!! There’s another one here!”

“It’s that girl!”

The two, whose shoulders had deep cuts, screamed in pain.

But it wasn’t over yet.

As soon as Liu Yuqing injured them, without giving them a chance to retreat, she delivered a whipping kick, striking one of them in the head, causing him to lose consciousness.

The other one was terrified, his face turning pale. He had never encountered such a fierce girl and had no time to resist before he, too, was kicked to the ground by Liu Yuqing.

This scene naturally caught the attention of the four security guards, who immediately abandoned their attack on Jiang Cheng and instead charged toward Liu Yuqing, who was closer to them.

“Capture her! As long as we get her, that guy won’t dare to act recklessly!” the security captain shouted.

Seeing so many people rushing toward her, Liu Yuqing felt a wave of panic and couldn’t help but take two steps back.

When she had dealt with those two survivors just now, she had already used up all her courage.

After all, she was still a young college student with little experience in the world; she had never seen such a situation. Sᴇaʀch* Thᴇ NovᴇlFɪre .ɴᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of nøvels early and in the highest quality.

However, fortunately, Jiang Cheng had already arrived by then. He reached out, pressed her shoulder, and gently pulled her back a few steps.

“You stay back; leave the rest to me.”

“Okay!”

Hearing Jiang Cheng’s words, Liu Yuqing quickly nodded, took a few more steps back, and hid behind a cabinet to avoid being a burden to him.

The next moment, she saw Jiang Cheng, holding the short knife, charge at the four security guards like a wolf among sheep.

One slash, one kill!

He instantly took down two of them!

Of the two remaining guards, one seized the opportunity to rush at him, but Jiang Cheng spun around and kicked him to the ground. Then, with a swift bend, he slashed the man’s throat with his knife.

As for the last one, he posed even less of a challenge. Jiang Cheng simply delivered a knee strike to the man’s head, leaving him disoriented, before stabbing him in the neck to finish him off.

The entire battle flowed like water, utterly one-sided!

There was no doubt that the comprehensive close combat techniques were incredibly powerful!

From the moment he used the nail gun to kill the three men who had split off, to the moment the battle was completely over, it had taken less than three minutes!

These people didn’t even have a chance to resist before they were all killed!

After the battle ended, Jiang Cheng, to ensure that none of them were playing dead, delivered an extra blow to each of their heads before finally breathing a slight sigh of relief.

Wiping the short knife in his hand, his gaze turned to the stairwell on the second floor. He was about to call Liu Yuqing to help deal with the two men still guarding the door who hadn’t noticed the commotion.

However, before he could speak, he heard the sound of retching coming from behind a nearby cabinet.

“Forget it, give her some time to adjust.”

Jiang Cheng shook his head, abandoning the idea of calling her over.

He then picked up the nail gun he had tossed onto the sofa earlier, refilled the depleted compressed air, reloaded the nails, and headed alone to the stairwell.

Dealing with the two survivors guarding the door wasn’t much trouble for him, especially with the nail gun in hand. As for their bodies, Jiang Cheng casually dragged them one by one into the furniture section and placed them with the security guards.

Although he hadn’t yet observed any signs that zombies could detect human food by scent, the lack of evidence didn’t mean it was impossible.

So, for safety’s sake, he had to do it this way.

By this time, Liu Yuqing had more or less recovered and was no longer vomiting, though her face still looked a bit pale.

Jiang Cheng picked up a bottle of water and walked over to her, saying, “Drink some water, take a two-minute rest, and then come downstairs with me.”

Just as Liu Yuqing was about to take the water, she glanced at the corpses on the ground and felt another wave of nausea.

However, after taking a moment to adjust, she managed to suppress the nausea, took the water from him, and gulped down a few sips. Silently, she encouraged herself, “Liu Yuqing, you can do this! You absolutely must not become a burden to him!”

“I’m … I’m fine now.” After drinking a bit more water, Liu Yuqing looked up and said.

“Nausea is normal.” Seeing her trying to put on a brave face, Jiang Cheng waved his hand dismissively and then added, “Help me find the keys; we need to get ready to head downstairs.”

“Okay!”

Hearing that there was no hint of reproach in Jiang Cheng’s words, Liu Yuqing felt a bit relieved and nodded in agreement before following him toward the bodies.

Fortunately, after the earlier bout of vomiting, she didn’t feel as nauseated when she looked at the bodies now.

Soon, the two of them found the key to the iron gate on one of the security guards.

“Thank goodness!”

Taking the key from Liu Yuqing, Jiang Cheng let out a sigh of relief. Without this key, it would have been much harder to proceed with the third step.

“By the way, did you just say we’re going downstairs?”

At that moment, Liu Yuqing suddenly realized something and looked puzzled.

She remembered that Jiang Cheng had said the first floor was full of zombies, so why was he planning to go down there?

“You’ll find out soon. Just follow my lead,” Jiang Cheng replied with a wave of his hand, not saying much more. He walked over to the side and spoke softly into his Bluetooth earpiece, “Jarvis, how many zombies are left on the first floor now?”

“Sir, there are eight left in total.”

After less than a second, Jarvis’s voice responded.

“How many are near the North Gate? And how many are close to the door outside?” Jiang Cheng continued to ask.

Before taking action, he needed to know all these details. Otherwise, unexpected incidents could occur at any moment, which was not something he wanted.

“Sir, all eight zombies on the first floor are near the North Gate. There are twenty-three outside near the North Gate, with the closest one fifteen meters away.”

Jarvis took less than two seconds to scan the area through mobile phone tracking before replying again.

“Is that so? I wonder if I can use the phone ringtone trick again to attract those zombies.”

After hearing Jarvis’s report, Jiang Cheng rubbed his chin and pondered.

“Sir, the eight zombies on the first floor were not attracted by the phone ringtone or the noise on the street before, so it’s not recommended to use the phone ringtone again.”

“Then we’ll have to take a risk and force it!”

Jiang Cheng frowned, tightened his grip on the short knife, and said in a deep voice.
