Upon arriving at the East Mansion, Xiao Yichen exited the elevator and spotted Xu Yanxi in the reception area outside the office.
Xiao Yichen’s frowned upon seeing her.
“Chen, you’re here,” Xu Yanxi cheerily called out as she walked towards him.
She reached for his arm and said warmly, “It’s been so long. Have you missed me?”
“No,” Xiao Yichen replied bluntly. He attempted to free his arm from her grasp, but it proved difficult.
Xu Yanxi’s expression soured upon hearing his response. Her face displayed a hint of anger as she pouted and spoke coquettishly, “I missed you a lot.”
Xiao Yichen regarded her impatiently and asked, “Why are you here?”
“I missed you, so 1 wanted to spend time with you,” Xu Yanxi replied as she leaned closer to Xiao Yichen.
Upon sensing her intentions, Xiao Yichen quickly extended his free arm to prevent her from approaching further.
“I’m extremely busy,” Xiao Yichen said. He couldn’t afford to be dismissive or get into an argument with her. Instead, he did his best to suppress his irritation and continued, “Since you’ve seen me, please return. I need to get to work.”
He briskly entered the office after breaking free from Xu Yanxi’s grasp.
But Xu Yanxi showed no signs of leaving. She followed him into the office.
“Yichen, I have a gathering with my friends in two days. Can you accompany me to the mall for some shopping?” Xu Yanxi inquired, her voice soft and pleading.
“I’m busy,” Xiao Yichen replied as he started working at his desk.
Upon realizing that Xiao Yichen was gearing up for a busy workday, Xu Yanxi advanced and snatched his documents from him. She looked at him and proposed, “You can work on these tasks in the afternoon. Please set aside the morning for me.”
When he noticed that she was rummaging through his documents, he couldn’t help but sigh of exasperation. She reminded him of her younger self, and the situation left him helpless.
“Yanxi, please stop playing around,” Xiao Yichen prayed, his voice calm. “You can arrange to meet your other friends for shopping. I’m genuinely busy.”
“No! 1 only want you to accompany me!” Xu Yanxi declared with an unhappy expression.
Xiao Yichen was at a loss for words, unable to figure out how to handle the situation.
Upon seeing his silence, Xu Yanxi contemplated for a moment and then inched closer to him. With eager anticipation, she spoke softly, “Chen, you promised to go shopping with me today and have lunch. It will only take up your morning and afternoon. 1 won’t bother you for a whole month, alright?”
