CH 107

~End of chapter 106

After tying his belt, he looked at the woman, whose features grew even more beautiful, her eyes were like round pearls, there was an imperceptible candidness in her attractiveness, her small face was white and soft, pinching it felt quite good.

He seemed to be liking her more and more, he could never bear to take his eyes off her.

This was not a good thing for Zhao Zhi.

Zhao Zhi clenched his fingers more tightly, “What are you thinking about?”

Ming Zhu was being held in his arms, forced to absorb the cold pine fragrance coming from his body. Hesitating for a long time, she still wasn’t able to sit by and do nothing, “Your Highness, Wei Chiyu and I really have nothing to do with each other anymore……”

So he no longer needed to deliberately make things difficult for Wei Chiyu.

Because she knew that Wei Chiyu was a very good person, Ming Zhu was afraid that the words that Jiang You had said were true, if being imprisoned still wasn’t enough, he might lose his life.

Even if Ming Zhu’s love for Wei Chiyu wasn’t very deep, but it was still difficult to forget him. The teenager in her memory treated her well with all of his heart. All the silver he earned by working hard was almost all spent for her.

The corners of Zhao Zhi’s mouth sank and he didn’t make a sound for a long time.

“What hearsay have you heard again?”

“Nothing in particular, I just heard about his transfer to Changzhou, I’m very happy for him.”

He saw that there was indeed no other emotion on her face, but his heart didn’t feel much relaxed. Since she asked, it meant that she still cared, “I will not harm his life.”

“Hmm. I know that Your Highness always keeps his word.”

Zhao Zhi tightened his grip on her hand and didn’t let go all along.

His eyes seemed to be carrying a sneering look, it was unknown whether he was mocking her or laughing at himself. That expression of hers, exactly what part of it looked like she didn’t care at all ? He was just deceiving himself.

Zhao Zhi, holding her hand, led her outside. Once it was dark outside, it was a little cold. During late spring evenings, it was even more humid, a watery mist was hitting her face and her eyelashes became stained with water droplets. She looked absolutely ravishing.

On the way, none of the two said anything.

His Highness, the crown prince appeared at the evening banquet along side his concubine. The crowd couldn’t help but take a quick look towards their side. She indeed looked really pretty as she stood gently by the the crown prince’s side, just like a little fairy.

The audience had different thoughts. The men took the opportunity to secretly take two more glances at her. The inner jealousy of the young ladies was instead extinguished. No matter how beautiful she was, she was but a muddy swamp that was bound to sink, her triumph wouldn’t last many years.

Ming Zhu was seated at a table with a group of young girls she had never seen before, but she didn’t feel embarrassed, she just picked up her chopsticks and ate her favorite dishes. The other people at the table didn’t touch their chopsticks, instead they took the initiative to toast her with two glasses of wine.

Ming Zhu drank four or five cups of wine in a row. The beautiful corners of her eyes were painted with spring colors as her head felt very swollen. After drinking wine, her body was warm and even as the cold wind blew by, she still felt hot.

Sheng Ling came over at some point and said, “Miss Ming Zhu is drunk, hurry and help her to go take a rest.”

Ming Zhu wasn’t that sensitive to alcohol, but tonight she was really a bit muddled. A palace maid took her to an empty room in the side hall, took her clothes off and helped her onto the bed.

After going out, the little palace maid closed the latch on the door of the room.

There were more than one or two drunk people at the banquet. Song Huaiqing seemed to have escaped from the hall, feeling dizzy in the head and having a little bit the urge to vomit.

He wanted to take a nap to refresh his spirit.

When he came out, Song Huaiqing bumped into Sheng Ling. He had some good feelings for her. His expression looked uneasy, feeling embarrassed and not knowing how to start a conversation.

Sheng Ling smiled at him, before ordering a palace maid to take him to the side hall to have a rest.

Song Huaiqing nodded and said okay.

The night was very heavy, he wouldn’t have been able to see the path in front of him if not for the faint light of the lantern. After the door of the room was closed, Song Huaiqing heard a few sobs of suffering coming from the bedside.

He immediately sobered up from his tipsiness.

When Zhao Zhi came to look for Ming Zhu, no one had seen where she had gone.

“She drunk a little and first retired to have a rest.”

“In which room?”

“I don’t know.”

“What about the palace maid?”

“I don’t know which little palace maid led the way.” The voice of the person who replied became lower and lower, and she gradually closed her mouth under the cold and sharp gaze of the crown prince.

The look in Zhao Zhi’s eyes as he looked at them was emotionless, like a knife hanging above their heads, ready to fall at any moment.

A weak voice suddenly sounded, “I saw miss Ming Zhu heading to the side hall to rest.”

The dark, icy fog in Zhao Zhi’s eyes gradually dispersed. He let out a sigh of relief before walking towards the side hall, with big steps.

Ming Zhu thought her brain felt so dizzy because of her own inability to drink as her vision became increasingly blurred.

After she was helped onto bed by the palace maid, her mind became even more drowsy, she just felt like falling asleep as her head touched the pillow.

But her body started getting more and more uncomfortable. The temperature of her cheeks was frighteningly hot as beads of sweat seeped out of her forehead, moistening her bare skin, rolling down her cheeks and down to her collar.

Unable to stand the heat, Ming Zhu kicked away the thin blanket on her body, closed her eyes and laid down for a while, but the heat was still unbearable. The entire person was like on fire.

She opened her eyes and, supporting herself with her hands, slowly sat up. She tried to get out of bed to get herself a cup of water, but she didn’t even have the strength to stand up.
