Chapter 21 - Sister Lan Is Injured

21 Sister Lan Is Injured

“No, it’s your first time getting the third female lead role and you’re on the same crew as Ba Lan. She has plenty of ways to scheme against you, you must not go alone!”

Lan Ying refused flatly. “You’ve always been obsessed with acting, you don’t know how many dirty tricks they used. It wasn’t easy for you to get a proper role, you can’t fall for this!”

“Then what about Ningning?” Huo Ru was convinced. She could indeed enter the team alone, but Ba Lan definitely wouldn’t let her off. She really needed someone to help her, and the only person she could trust was Sister Lan.

“Look at that little monkey. It hasn’t been long since he dragged his legs and jumped up and down. Why does he need me? I’ll just leave him to the nanny.” As a biological mother, Lan Ying was very magnanimous and knew her son very well.

“Then… Alright, sorry to trouble you, Sister Lan.”

Lan Ying was overjoyed when she agreed. In the end, extreme joy turned to sorrow. When she was getting the test report for Ningning, she accidentally twisted her ankle and was pushed back to the room by the nurse.

She grimaced and blamed herself. “It’s all my fault. I even said I would go with you!”

“It’s good that you’re fine. At most, I’ll go to the company to get another assistant.”

Lan Ying flatly refused and said, “You’re too careless. The company has already become Ba Lan’s company, yet you still dare to use the company’s assistant! Aren’t you afraid that she’ll spike your cup!” “Then what should we do?” Huo Ru was also a little worried that Ba Lan would play some tricks on her. Sister Lan was not around, and the people in the company could not be trusted at all. For a moment, she was in a dilemma.

Sister Lan limped as she was pushed to bandage her ankle. The doctor instructed her not to get off the bed and to recuperate for a few days, her bones and tendons would be injured for a hundred days. Although it was only a sprained ankle, she could not be careless. Lan Ying definitely could not follow the team. Even if she could, she would not be of much use. She might even become a burden to Huo Ru.

“Why don’t we find one ourselves?” Lan Ying suggested tentatively. “In any case, you do need an assistant with your current status. We’ll hire one ourselves and not pick from the candidates provided by the company. We’ll let the company pay their salary.”

“But…” Huo Ru hesitated.

Lan Ying interrupted her hesitation. “I know you’re still worried about whether the person you hired is reliable, but we have no choice now. We have to do it even if we can’t.”

The two of them agreed that Sister Lan would find someone to send the news. Huo Ru was in charge of personally recruiting for the job role.

Sister Lan’s nanny rushed over with food and Huo Ru took a few bites. She couldn’t bear to trouble a person who had to take care of two patients and her nanny, so she found an excuse to go home.

Fortunately, Li Ma had helped her record her fingerprints in the morning. She finally didn’t have to wait for Yun Feng to send her the temporary password every day.

She opened the door, but there was no one there. Yun Feng was probably still working hard at the company, and she didn’t know where Li Ma had gone.

She lay dejectedly on the sofa. After having time to herself, the pressure she had been under for the past two days surged up like seawater, sweeping through every cell of her body, almost drowning her.

Huo Ru stood up, she couldn’t let herself sink into such negative emotions. It might be much better to take a shower, she convinced herself.

When the warm water was poured on her face, she felt much better.

She let out a long sigh. There was still something in this messy life that made her feel better.

After coming out of the shower, Huo Ru wanted to ask Sister Lan what candidates she had in mind. Only then did she realize that she had rushed in without her phone.

She opened the door and looked around, no one had returned. She was too lazy to put on her clothes and go out again so she went straight to the living room.

The door opened, and Huo Ru turned around to meet the eyes of Yun Feng, who should be at work.

“Uh, hi…” Huo Ru waved awkwardly.

Yun Feng did not expect such a pleasant surprise from changing to a home office at the last minute. Seeing that the timid rabbit was about to run away with a red face, he took two steps forward and stopped her. “Wait!”

“What’s wrong?” Huo Ru stopped, thinking it was something important.

“Your face is dirty.” He casually found a perfunctory reason.

Huo Ru believed him and wiped her face. “Anything else? What is it?”

Yun Feng gently wiped her fair face. “Alright, there’s no more now.”

Only then did Huo Ru realize that she had been deceived by the man, she was anxious to leave when Yun Feng suddenly grabbed her. Before Huo Ru could react, she accidentally fell towards Yun Feng.
