CH 5

After dinner, Huo Nianning consciously gathered up the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them.

He first paused the TV drama, then opened his husband’s arm, and obediently snuggled into his arms, placing his arm on her plump little belly and comfortingly patting it before pressing play.

Eerie music came out of the TV, and Jiang Nian’s face suddenly turned pale. He grabbed the man’s hand and leaned back, snuggling even closer to him.

“Jiang Jiang?”

The boy was leaning against him, and the warm touch of his chest and palm made Huo Chengyuan, who had not had intimate contact with anyone for a long time, hesitate for a moment.

“Uh?” When he heard his husband calling him, Jiang Nian tilted his head and looked at him.

“My dear, don’t be afraid, I’m here with you,” he said, patting his chest, looking reliable.

But as soon as he finished speaking, a sharp and ear-piercing background music scared him into hiccuping.

“I’m, I’m not scared. I just ate too much and hiccupped,” the boy defended himself with a pair of red eyes.

Clearly scared out of his mind, he had to pretend to be calm and comfort himself.

Huo Chengyuan was amused by the boy’s behavior. He leaned back on the sofa, pulled away from the boy, and with a smile, said, “I know you’re not scared, but what about me? Should we keep watching?”

“No, no more!” Jiang Nian shook his head quickly.

It was too scary. Just the background music was already so scary. He was afraid that the actual movie would scare him to death.

Although he couldn’t see the boy’s expression change, the sudden relaxation of his shoulders made Huo Chengyuan curve his lips.

After washing the dishes and coming out of the kitchen, Huo Nianjing couldn’t help but take a look at his friend who was sticking to his dad like glue, then turned around and walked upstairs with heavy steps.

He couldn’t stand being in this house for even a day.

Huo Chengyuan watched TV with the boy for a while, then answered a phone call around 9 o’clock and went to the study to deal with some documents his secretary had sent him. Instead of immediately going downstairs, he turned around and went into his son’s bedroom.

Huo Nianjing was playing a video game with his friends when he saw his dad standing at the door, looking displeased. Nervously, he ended up giving his opponent first blood.

“What the hell, you’re acting like me, Huo Nianjing! Giving first blood in the first 10 seconds?!” His friend exclaimed angrily.

“Sorry, I have something to deal with. I’ll take us to Glory next time!” Huo Nianjing was also in a hurry, so he quit the game and realized his feet were still on the table. He quickly put them down, sat properly with his hands on his knees, and then reluctantly called out “Dad.”

“Okay.” Huo Chengyuan nodded. “If there’s nothing else, go downstairs and keep your brother company for a while.”

“Huh?” Huo Nianning looked confused.

Wait, why do I have to keep him company again? Isn’t it a sleazy behavior for you to always ask others to keep your own wife company?

Seeing his son’s expression of resistance, Huo Chengyuan looked at him and spoke gently, “Nianning, although society is not yet tolerant enough of homosexuality, as long as you are happy and living a fulfilling life, and your partner’s character is good, I will treat them like family. Do you understand?”

Huo Nianning nodded and gave his father a thumbs-up. “Dad, you are the most open-minded parent I’ve ever seen.”

So, is Dad giving himself a preventive shot and preparing to come out to him?

Huo Chengyuan thought his son understood and planned to give him some time to prepare himself before he told him the truth. But it would be more appropriate for his son, as the boyfriend, to take care of him himself.

“I have some things to take care of. Nianning is watching TV downstairs. Don’t spend all your time playing games upstairs alone, spend more time with him.”

Huo Chengyuan was worried that if he pressed too hard, he would trigger his son’s rebellious psychology, so he added, “He’s still recovering from his injury and his emotions are fragile. Having someone with him will make him feel better.”

“You’re afraid he’ll be too lonely by himself.”

Huo Nianning understood. He thought his dad was quite qualified as a lover, even busy with work, he still remembered to let his son accompany his stepmother to pass the time.

“I’ll play games with him for a while,” he said, picking up his gaming equipment.

Huo Chengyuan nodded, “Don’t play for too long. Remember to remind Nian Nian to take his medicine after half an hour. He knows which one to take.”

“OK.”

In the living room downstairs, Jiang Nian was holding the remote and waiting almost falling asleep, but the man hadn’t come back yet.

“Do you want to play games together, Nian Nian?” Huo Nianning came downstairs and asked.

Seeing that only he came down, Jiang Nian couldn’t muster up any energy, holding a pillow with a little curly hair drooping, listlessly.

“I don’t feel like playing. Where’s my husband?” he said.

“He went to work,” Huo Nianning replied.

“Oh.” Jiang Nian glanced upstairs, his expression somewhat mournful as he muttered, “Work, work, all you care about is work. I’m sick, don’t you know you should spend more time with me?”

“Don’t be sad. My dad is off tomorrow and can accompany you all day.” Huo Nianning said, trying to give his father some good impression. “He’s working hard to clear up his schedule.”

Jiang Nian slowly smiled upon hearing this.

Just comforting someone, so easy.

Huo Nianning saw his friend’s smile and thought smugly in his heart.

The game group was urging them, and Huo Nianning asked Jiang Nian, “Do you want to play the game? We need one more player for the 5v5 team, and you’re the best at playing the mage position.”

Jiang Nian nodded and said, “Let’s play.”

Ten minutes later –
