CH 9

Half past three in the afternoon, at the South City Airport.

The boy had a strand of black curly hair on his head dampened by the rain and sticking to his forehead, drops of water still dripping down. The boy paid no attention, raising his arm to wipe away the raindrops and looking at Huo Chengyuan’s face with a bright joyful smile.

Huo Chengyuan’s heart stirred slightly, and he took out a handkerchief to wipe away the raindrops on the boy’s hair.

“Why didn’t you let me know you were coming? It’s raining so hard and you still went out. What if you catch a cold?”

Jiang Nian stood on tiptoe, leaning his head against the man’s palm and rubbing it gently.

“I missed you,” he looked at the man, with a pitiful expression, “we haven’t seen each other for half a month. Didn’t you miss me at all?”

The boy looked like he was accusing, but his tone and actions were more like a spoiled child.

Huo Chengyuan’s gaze moved away from the boy’s delicate and pretty eyes and took the umbrella from the boy’s hand, saying gently, “Let’s go, we’ll talk at home.”

“Okay,” Jiang Nian obediently nodded. He thought to himself that his husband had been on a long flight and must be exhausted, so he tried to take his luggage and help him carry it, but was rejected by the latter.

“I’ll do it,” said Huo Chengyuan.

The umbrella was a little small, so he extended his arm and wrapped it around the boy’s shoulder, walking outside the platform together.

He doesn’t have much talent for cooking. Although the food he makes is edible, it’s nowhere near as good as what his husband can make. When he tried to make red wine stewed beef before, he failed twice before succeeding.

Today, he didn’t have as much time to experiment, so he made his specialty braised pork, and for the other dishes, he could only leave it to chance.

Luckily, out of the three dishes he made, only one was not cooked well enough, otherwise, he would have been embarrassed.

“Jiang Nian, you did a great job.” Huo Chengyuan smiled and said, “You and Nianning are the same age, but he can’t even wash his own clothes, let alone cook. You’re much more independent than him. And you can even draw, right? Nianning showed me your drawings before, they’re really good.”

Jiang Nian blushed at his husband’s praise, blinked his round and plump apricot eyes, and was so happy that two small dimples appeared deeply on his cheeks.

“I, I’ll go wash the dishes,” he said with a bright red face.

“I’ll do it. You’ve been busy for so long, sit down and rest for a while,” Huo Chengyuan said, pressing the boy’s shoulder and speaking warmly.

At 8 o’clock in the evening, Jiang Nian pulled out a children’s variety show he hadn’t watched in two weeks and leaned against his man contentedly while watching it.

Because of his fear of the bed, Huo Chengyuan hadn’t slept well for half a month. Now that he was relaxed, he soon felt drowsy.

He didn’t want to disturb the boy, so he leaned on the back of the sofa and planned to take a nap, but ended up falling asleep.

“Ono is really cute, husband, do you like children?”

Jiang Nian didn’t hear the man respond so he turned his head to look him and saw that his were eyes closed, as if he was asleep.

He blinked, carefully knelt down beside the man, and quietly reached out to touch the man’s beautiful eyebrows.

“My husband is so handsome.”

Jiang Nian smiled foolishly, looking at the man’s beautiful figure and the faint pink color of his lips. He swallowed his saliva without restraint.

“Husband, are you asleep?” He leaned in to the man’s side and called softly. Seeing that the man’s eyes were closed and he didn’t respond, he pouted and plucked up the courage to get closer.

He just wanted to give him a kiss, just one kiss. His husband wouldn’t notice… right?

Jiang Nian blinked and maintained his posture, with his butt sticking out. He stared at the man with wide eyes when he suddenly opened his eyes, and it took him several seconds to react.

“Husband, you’re awake?” He quickly sat up straight, staring at him with innocent almond eyes and said, “There was a bug on your eyelashes just now, and I wanted to help you get rid of it. I wasn’t trying to take advantage of you.”

Huo Chengyuan looked at the boy and asked, “Oh? Did you get rid of it?”

Jiang Nian subconsciously touched her finger and said, “I, I got rid of it.”

Huo Chengyuan nodded and said, “Thank you.”

Jiang Nian: “…”

He stole a glance at the man and saw that he had closed his eyes again then breathed a sigh of relief.

Phew, thank goodness his husband didn’t notice.

“Husband, let’s go back to the room to sleep. It’s not comfortable to sleep here.” He tugged at the man’s sleeve.

These days, his husband must not have rested well, with dark circles under his eyes. He looked at the dark shadows under his husband’s eyes and furrowed his brow with concern.

Huo Chengyuan rubbed his forehead and responded in a hoarse voice, “Okay.”

Jiang Nian woke up early today, didn’t take a nap at noon, and now he’s a bit sleepy. He yawned and followed his husband back to the bedroom.

At two o’clock in the middle of the night, Huo Chengyuan’s throat was dry. He wanted to get up and drink some water, but he found that the boy was sleeping soundly in his arms when he lifted the blanket.

Looking at the boy who was snuggling up to him with trust and dependence, Huo Chengyuan was silent for a long time, then gently moved the boy away from his arms.

The next day was Saturday, and there were no classes at school. Jiang Nian didn’t need to get up early and only got up after nine.

The person next to him was already gone when he woke up, so he sat on the bed for a while before getting up and getting dressed. Downstairs in the kitchen, he found breakfast warming in the pot.

【Husband】: Good morning.

【Husband】: Are you free tonight?

Jiang Nian smiled and typed: Yes~

His heart was pounding as he wondered about the intention behind his husband’s question.

“Okay, come back tonight, I have something to tell you,” his husband replied.

“So he wasn’t asking me out on a date after all,” Jiang Nian pouted and typed back: “Okay, got it.”

With no homework from school, he opened his boss’s WeChat and decided to continue working on his sketches.

“Boss, this is a sketch, can you let me know if there is anything else that needs to be changed?” Jiang Nian messaged with a picture attached.

His boss was a fan of his work and always got excited when they spoke.

“Jiang Nian, you’re amazing! I don’t think there’s anything I need to change. Keep going and send me the line art,” the boss replied.

Jiang Nian was infected by the girl’s enthusiasm and replied with a smile: “Okay, I’ll keep going and send you the line art.”

“Ah, Jiang Nian replied to me!” the girl replied in excitement.

Jiang Nian smiled.

Drawing really made him happy and he met so many cute fans and his boss.

“It would be great if I could have my own art exhibition someday,” he thought, feeling hopeful.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, Huo Nianning finally came home after a long day out.

Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but feel excited.

At four o’clock in the afternoon, Huo Nianning, who had spent the day out, finally came home.

“Ah, I’m exhausted. I’m never going shopping with the girls again. Don’t they get tired? We walked for hours and they just got more and more excited. If it weren’t for my dad calling me to come home, I wouldn’t have found a suitable excuse to leave,” Huo Nianning complained as he plopped onto the sofa. After gulping down two large glasses of water, he finally felt alive again.

“Do you have a girlfriend?” Jiang Nian asked curiously.

Huo Nianning grinned mischievously. “Nope.”
