CH 50

That’s an incredible magic…. Well, it’s not just the magic, it’s Milim herself.

I was surprised that she used her supernatural power to protect me, a human, even though she was afraid of humans.

“Are you okay?”

Those were the only words Milim spoke to me. I could tell from her expression that she wasn’t completely unscathed either. She had just taken an attack that would normally result in instant death. All because of my weakness.

But I didn’t want to apologize now. I decided to save that for another time, when the timing was right. For now, I needed to focus on what was in front of me.

“Yeah, thank you. Are you okay?”

“I’m not completely unscathed, but I’ll manage.”

If she had come out of that completely unharmed, it would have been impossible to defeat any other Vampire Lord in the future.

I couldn’t help but think that, compared to Milim’s current state, the Dragon Zombie looked cute. But of course, I couldn’t forget that it was still way more powerful than me.

“Well, it seems like it’s running out of magical power.”

“Okay…”

“Well then, it could be good practice. I’ll block it’s way with 『King of the Night』. You can join me.”

“Okay!”

『King of the Night』was the spell that Milim used like a recovery spell, but its principle was unknown. I could only create some kind of bat-like creature, maybe black monsters or something.

Milim’s countless bats blocked the Dragon Zombie’s path, gradually shrinking its activity area.

“Let’s do this.”

Following Milim’s lead, I also deployed 『King of the Night』 around the Dragon Zombie.

My bats joined in, and soon the black shadows were closing in around the Dragon Zombie.

“Grrrrrraaaaaaahhhhhhh!”

It unleashed another breath attack, but it was all swallowed up by the black whirlpool.

“Milim you’re amazing.”

“Don’t forget to include your bats.”

“No, this was mostly your doing, Milim.”

“Hehe… but not entirely, right?”

We talked like that as the Dragon Zombie’s body crumbled.

“Grrruuuaaaahhh!”

It screamed in agony as its unnaturally gray body lost its strength, and the incomplete bones that made up its body fell to the ground.

Milim looked at me. I guess it was over now.

“Gyaaaahhh!”

I looked for the core of the Dragon Zombie that seemed to be in pain.

What I could see now was just its temporary body. If there was no soul, an undead couldn’t be born. I quietly activated the skill and aimed it at the soul.

【Necromancy】.

Like a signal marking the end of the battle with the dragon zombie, that voice echoed in my head.
