Chapter 1

The night in Makar Forest was as cold as steel.

A black castle stood at the end of the forest. Its Gothic spires were like huge iron-armored knights raising spears that pierced the night sky.

Lind caught the scent of pine in the darkness. His hands groped around. There seemed to be soft velvet cushions under his body. Then he opened his eyes slowly and found no familiar surroundings before him.

There was only endless darkness.

“Where am I? Weren’t I working overtime…”

He remembered that he had worked overtime late last night and fell asleep because he was too tired.

Puzzled, Lind raised his hand. His hand seemed to touch something, like a thick plank.

Then, he raised his hand forcefully, and a beam of light fell into his eyes.

With this light, he could finally see what was under his body.

It was a coffin, but it was quite spacious. It could accommodate four or five people lying flat inside. Inside the coffin was a red velvet blanket covered with purple petals. Although it was the first time Lind had seen such petals, he could immediately call out their names.

These were the petals of the Blood Millet Flower. The fragrance was similar to a lit pine tree, and it could heal injuries.

This feeling made Lind feel extremely strange. It was as if there was a layer of dirty gray fog covering his memories. Under the gray fog, something seemed to be breaking through this barrier.

He continued to look around. He was in a spacious room with candles lit on the walls. The bright glow of the candles lit the room as if it were daylight. The walls were made of marble. He followed the patterns on the walls and looked upward. Soon he found the mural above him.

It was a huge mural depicting countless demons, dragons, and terrifying monsters surrounded by countless corpses and pale bones stained with blood. In the dim light, Lind followed the piles of bones on the mural to the end, where a man sat on an iron throne, tasting wine as bright as blood.

The moment he saw the mural, countless fragments surged towards the depths of his brain.

The layer of gray fog disappeared. Memories surged in his mind like a boiling sea!

“I, Dracula, the supreme King of Demons and Vampires, will grant you eternal life. From now on, you will share the power of the Throne of Blood with me. You will become my direct descendant, my noblest subject, and you will hold this scepter with me for eternity. On this path, we will make an eternal oath that we will not betray each other until the end of the world!”

As the memories were awakened, Lind finally understood everything.

The man on the mural was the legendary Vampire King Dracula.

In the “Dark Blood War” more than two hundred years ago, Dracula used his Blood Magic to conquer the entire Demon Realm and finally ascended to the supreme throne as the Demon King.

Before that, vampires were only a group of low-level monsters among the demonic creatures. After that prolonged war, vampires became high-level members of the Demon Council.

The war could be said to be world-changing for the vampires, reshaping the status of all the vampires.

After the war ended, Dracula, the Vampire King, gave his territory to seven of his direct blood descendants and swore a contract with them in front of the throne of the Demon Realm. These seven people were the only seven vampire lords now, and their status was equivalent to Vampire Princes.

Lind was one of the only seven lords, a dignified Vampire Prince.

However, the vampires in this world were different from the vampires Lind had imagined.

In this world, low-level vampires needed to feed on blood to maintain their lives.

However, high-level vampires like Lind didn’t need to consume human blood at all, and they didn’t rely on blood at all. But high-level vampires had an ability called Blood Magic, and Blood Magic required the blood of the caster.

Therefore, to vampires like Lind, blood was more like a storage of magic power than food.

Most high-level vampires still had the habit of storing blood even though they no longer needed to suck blood to survive. Only Lind was a rather strange existence.

Before becoming a vampire, Lind was a doctor and a believer in the God of Light.

In the “Dark Blood War” two hundred years ago, Dracula, who had yet to sit on the Demon Throne at that time, was severely injured. He was only able to escape after exhausting all his blood to release powerful Blood Magic.

He landed in the town where Lind was.

Lind saved Dracula and, through blood transfusion therapy, saved Dracula from near death.

For this life-saving favor, after sitting on the Devil’s Throne, Dracula turned Lind into his blood descendant and gave him eternal life.

Dracula was actually quite kind to Lind. He did not force Lind to become his blood descendant when he was still alive. Instead, when Lind was seriously ill and on the verge of death, he gave him a new life.

After Lind became a Vampire Lord, Dracula also granted him a rather good fiefdom.

To the north of the fief was the endless Sea of the Northern Abyss. To the south of the fief was a vast and fertile plain. The entire territory was enveloped by Dracula’s Blood Magic that blocked detection. As long as Lind did not take risks, he could live comfortably in the territory.

However, as a believer of the God of Light, Lind was unwilling to suck human blood.

He was not too enthusiastic about managing the territory either. Slowly, the entire territory began to be abandoned.

The originally fertile plain was now overgrown with weeds. Many of his subordinates also left one after another, joining with other vampire lords.

However, if that was all, it wouldn’t pose much of a threat to the Vampire Lord who had achieved immortality. But not long ago, when Lind was strolling around the territory, he suddenly encountered a group of demon hunters from Blackwater Town. The leader’s name was Vander, and he was the highest-level Sacred Silver Hunter.

They seemed to have an ability to hunt vampires. They recognized Lind’s vampire identity immediately.

Vander pierced Lind’s heart with a crossbow bolt coated with holy water. Because he hadn’t fed on human blood for a long time, Lind didn’t have enough blood to perform his own Blood Magic.

He could only use the last bit of blood to escape back to his territory and hide in his coffin to recuperate.

In the end, before Lind could recover, his body was occupied by a soul from another world who was also called Lind.

This was the cause of everything.
