TL Note: This author’s note was from back on October 23, 2020. The author has stopped working on the web novel version, and the last released web novel chapter is Chapter 290. I plan to finish translating the web novel up until Chapter 290 and then move on to a different project, which I have yet to decide on at the moment.

I think this chapter is written from a third-person point of view.

Galafegorn hadn’t taken a single step since waking up, but he was keeping his eyelids peeled, scanning the surroundings.

Even when approached by an enemy, Galafegorn hadn’t moved at all. Perhaps it was the reason Galafegorn was called the ‘Lazy Turtle’ by others, or maybe it was just that moving was too troublesome.

Galafegorn had begun to emit an intimidating pressure as soon as he had woken up, causing all of the creatures within a 100-kilometer radius to rapidly flee the area. This was the manifestation of the aura of a powerhouse. It was a reflection of Galafegorn’s nature as a turtle at the top of the food chain.

Perhaps this was why Galafegorn hadn’t been that wary after Bouchi Hiro and the others approached. Galafegorn had self-confidence, since he had always managed to fight off anyone who provoked him up until now.

Moreover, they weren’t even S-Rank. Galafegorn didn’t feel that he was at the disadvantage in the slightest.

What was surprising to Galafegorn was the existence of a human among the enemies he was facing. No, in Galafegorn’s world, it would be a huron.

He had experience fighting them countless times in the past, but gradually there were fewer and fewer people who came to challenge Galafegorn, and now no one dared to come anymore.

‘The Tragedy of Zafa’ was a time when the hurons attacked Galafegorn and the glacial region of Zafa en masse. The humans had 5 million people.

They attempted to take down this old Galafegorn, an S-Rank monster, by taking advantage of their sheer massive numbers.

However, the result was a disastrous defeat for the hurons. The death toll at the time exceeded 4 million—in only 10 hours, too.

The hurons had assembled a team of skilled adventurers and had prepared a variety of artifacts for the challenge, but they were overwhelmed by Galafegorn in every single way.

After that, the hurons came to the conclusion that Galafegorn wasn’t an existence they could handle and stopped all attempts to mess with him.

Fortunately for them, Galafegorn wouldn’t act against anyone who wasn’t in his territory. Plus, since he rarely moved from one spot, let alone within his own domain, the hurons were safe as long as they left him alone.

That was why Galafegorn couldn’t understand this situation. Even after teaching them all of those lessons in the past, there were still hurons coming towards him. And it was only one person with a few monsters in tow. The sheer recklessness of the situation made Galafegorn feel wary at the start.

But after confronting him, Galafegorn understood. To him, these were really just a bunch of trifling, insignificant beings.

They could do nothing but run away when Galafegorn attacked them. They were weaklings who showed no sign of potential. It was impossible for Galafegorn to understand what they had come here for.

To Galafegorn, that monster that had challenged him a while ago was much better. That big bird.

That big bird was flying around Galafegorn’s domain, shouting and squawking, so Galafegorn decided to give him a bit of an unspoken warning—to try and tell him to hurry up and leave this place at once.

But Galafegorn had no idea what that guy was thinking when he decided to send an attack towards Galafegorn. With that, Galafegorn could no longer remain silent.

However, Galafegorn felt that the bird was stronger than he had expected. That bird was probably as strong as an S-Rank monster.

Still, it was no match for Galafegorn. After fighting off the bird, Galafegorn decided to trap it in the iceberg on his back.

This was not an ordinary iceberg. It was known as the <Ice Turtleshell Cage>, which could slowly absorb energy from the prey trapped inside and convert it into nutrients or energy to attack.

There were countless creatures trapped inside this mountain-like prison. Rather than killing them and eating them directly, it was much more efficient to trap them this way. To put it simply, they would last longer and make it many times more efficient for Galafegorn to acquire energy than by acquiring nutrients directly from eating food.

This was why Galafegorn could live without moving at all. Galafegorn could receive energy little by little from the creatures that he had stored this way. Like this, Galafegorn could cut down on the predatory behavior that many creatures needed to engage in to survive.

This was the lazy, efficient method that Galafegorn had devised so that Galafegorn could simply stay put and sleep.

“…..?”

Something suddenly caught Galafegorn’s attention. Off in the distance, Galafegorn could see multiple dots floating up ahead.

But they were not just dots. Sol had increased to several dozens in number.

Galafegorn suddenly narrowed his eyes.

So they came again… he thought to himself.

Sol was a B-Rank monster. Even if there were hundreds of this ‘Sol’, they would still be far from the power of an S-Rank monster. So Galafegorn wouldn’t waver.

Galafegorn compressed the energy extracted from the <Ice Turtleshell Cage> and shot it at the Sols.

The name of this flash of light was <Vitality Light Beam>.

The Sols took evasive action and scattered in response to the incoming <Vitality Light Beam>. Some of them were unable to react to the speed of the attack in time and were swallowed up and disappeared.

To Galafegorn, they looked like a bunch of annoying flies.

Galafegorn unleashed a number of small <Vitality Light Beams>, taking out one Sol after another.

But while Galafegorn’s attention was focused on the air, there were some figures rushing towards Galafegorn from under the sea, unbeknownst to him.

There were several Killer Turtles rapidly approaching him.
