CH 21.3

Do You Still Hate Her? 11 – Where do you get the confidence that I would pick up trash like you?

“Chi Yan?” Shang Lu was surprised by his presence, but she didn’t have time to ask many questions. Instead, she reached out her hand towards him and said, “Give me back the strawberries.”

Chi Yan didn’t quite understand Shang Lu’s action. He lightly shook the strawberries in his hand and asked, “But you don’t like eating these, do you?”

Shang Lu replied earnestly, “But these were given to me by someone who likes me.”

“Huh?” Chi Yan’s expression instantly turned shocked, then a little anxious. He asked, “Who? Who likes you? Is this liking worth this box of strawberries?”

And he’s the one who bought it! Even borrowing flowers to offer Buddha shouldn’t be done like this, right?

“What are you talking about?” Shang Lu felt bewildered and pointed to the nearby staff member, saying, “She’s a very cute girl, maybe she can be considered half my fan?”

Upon hearing the words ‘girl,’ Chi Yan’s expression became somewhat stiff. After opening his mouth for a while, he squeezed out a single “Oh.”

Shang Lu didn’t notice Chi Yan’s discomfort. She handed him the script and took back the box of strawberries, then she headed to the rest area assigned to her by the crew.

Director Han Cheng approached and asked, “Mr. Chi, do you have any…”

Chi Yan interrupted the director directly, waving his hand. “I’m fine, you do your thing, I’ll just wander around.”

After saying that, Chi Yan took a couple of steps and caught up with Shang Lu, asking, “Why are you alone here? Don’t you have an assistant?”

“The assistant went to the hotel. Even if we stay only for half a month, we still need to buy some daily necessities,” Shang Lu replied and then asked him back, “What about you? Weren’t you here for work? Why are you following me?”

“It’s work, but there’s nothing specific to handle. I left it to my assistant,” Chi Yan said, extending his hand and once again snatching the box of strawberries from Shang Lu’s hand.

“Chi Yan!” Shang Lu stopped in his tracks, looking at him with some incomprehension. “Are you really fixated on this box of strawberries today?”

“What are you thinking?” Chi Yan pushed open the door to the lounge and turned back to look at Shang Lu, who was standing there with a suspicious expression. He sighed and said, “Come in, Miss. What I mean is I’ll go wash them for you.”

Shang Lu leaned on the back of the sofa, watching the man washing strawberries by the nearby sink.

He was still wearing a white shirt today, with the sleeves rolled up. Shang Lu didn’t know where he found a bag of edible salt, but he was rinsing and soaking each strawberry one by one. Although his movements were slightly unfamiliar, the process was complete, and he seemed very focused.

Shang Lu was somewhat surprised and commented, “Mr. Chi has indeed improved his living skills during these years abroad.”

Back in high school, she was shocked to learn that a young master like Chi Yan had someone to take care of his every need, and he never took any public transportation.

Chi Yan’s response to this was, “You’re just realizing that now?”

Then he brought the box of clean strawberries over. When Shang Lu reached out to take them, his other hand suddenly extended from behind and successfully launched a surprise attack, splashing water onto Shang Lu’s face.

Shang Lu : “…”

Every time she felt that Chi Yan had become more stable and different from before, he would use practical actions to remind her—

But this familiar feeling inexplicably put Shang Lu at ease.

Shang Lu looked up at him, with a wry smile on her face, and said, “You should be grateful that I don’t have a film shoot today, or else you would have ruined my makeup, and I wouldn’t forgive you.”

“Don’t worry, I’m not the kind of person who has no sense of proportion,” Chi Yan said as he sat down next to Shanglu. He then held up a strawberry in front of her and said, “Here, have some.”

Shanglu looked at the strawberry in front of her, and her eyebrows furrowed tightly.

Indeed, even though this was a strawberry filled with love…

It was still just a box of strawberries! That was an unchangeable fact!

Seeing Shang Lu’s thoughts, Chi Yan ate one directly and praised, “The taste is really good.”

Shang Lu gave him a disdainful look, then reached out and took a strawberry and stuffed it into her mouth.

It was sweet.

But the rough texture when her mouth came into contact with the strawberry made her feel extremely uncomfortable, to the point where the sweetness was overshadowed by this strange sensation.

Rather than the taste, she found it somewhat nauseating.

There wasn’t really a special reason for it, she just didn’t like this fruit, never had since she was little.

But on the contrary, strawberry happened to be Jiang Yi’s favorite fruit, so she had tried several times to see if she could develop a liking for it, but each time ended in failure.

Shang Lu struggled to swallow this strawberry, and didn’t want to eat another one.

Although this has nothing to do with Jiang Yi this time, and there was no plot controlling her, dislikes are still dislikes.

Shang Lu looked at Chi Yan.

Chi Yan also looked at her.

Their eyes met.

Shang Lu looked at the strawberry in Chi Yan’s hand, her face full of pain.

In the next second, Chi Yan quickly grabbed a handful of strawberries and forced a few into his mouth. His cheeks bulged hurriedly, and even chewing was very difficult.

And then, Shang Lu witnessed the fastest strawberry-eating speed in human history, performed by Chi Yan once again.

He quickly wolfed down the box of strawberries, then picked up a bottle of mineral water from the coffee table and took a sip, saying, “No… cough, it’s gone!”

Shanglu couldn’t understand why he was in such a rush to finish the box of strawberries, but still said, “I didn’t intend to compete with you. You can eat slowly.”

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Shang Lu asked, “Who?”

But there was no response at the door.

Shang Lu glanced at Chi Yan.

Chi Yan was taken aback, lowered his voice uncertainly, and asked, “You don’t want me to hide, do you?”

His face was reluctant, but he still got up and looked around the lounge for a suitable hiding space.

Shang Lu replied, “…What are you thinking? You and I have nothing to hide. My assistant will be back from lunch soon. I wanted to ask if it was your assistant knocking on the door.”

“No,” Chi Yan denied, paused, and continued, “He should be busy.”

Just at that moment, someone finally spoke at the door.

Jiang Jing’s voice was gentle as she said, “Shang Lu, it’s me, Jiang Jing.”

Shang Lu was somewhat surprised that Jiang Jing had come to find her, but she immediately got up and went to open the door.

Jiang Jing also held two boxes of strawberries in her hand, smiling lightly as she said, “I heard you only took one box of strawberries. Do you like them? Here, have some more.”

Shang Lu : “…”

No, she didn’t like them at all.

But obviously, Jiang Jing mistakenly thought that Shang Lu liked strawberries, which was why she deliberately brought two more boxes. Faced with such kindness, Shang Lu could only force a smile, preparing to accept them, and said, “Thank you, I…”

“She hates strawberries the most.”

Chen Yan’s voice slowly rang out from behind Shang Lu, adding, “But the box of mangoes in your bag is what she likes. If you’re willing, you can give it to her.”

Jiang Jing looked somewhat surprised at the source of the voice, quickly recognizing the person inside, and hurriedly greeted them politely. With some apology, she took back the strawberries and handed the mangoes to Shang Lu.

Jiang Jing said, “Then I won’t disturb you.”

After Jiang Jing left, Shang Lu held the box of mangoes in her hand and turned to look at Chi Yan, asking, “Why did you say that just now?”

Chi Yan shrugged and replied, “I was telling the truth. Since you felt awkward refusing, I helped you say it.”

Shang Lu didn’t answer but instead lowered her head to open the box of mangoes.

Originally leaning against the sofa, Chi Yan suddenly sat up straight, appearing very alert, and asked, “Are you unhappy?”

“No,” ShangvLu denied, placing several mangoes on the coffee table and then pondered for a moment, saying, “I just feel that it’s not very polite to refuse when someone has good intentions.”

“You didn’t refuse, didn’t you accept the mangoes?” Chi Yan countered. “Since you said she had good intentions, do you think she would want to do something bad? You’ll be in the same group for a long time, what if she offers strawberries to you again?”

That’s true.

Shang Lu thought Chi Yan had a point, so she stopped thinking about these things and instead asked him, “How long are you going to stay here?”
