Do You Still Hate Her? 12 – Chasing wife to the crematorium

With only a thin layer of skin separating Wang Rong’s rough fingertips from the delicate blood vessels on her neck, a chilling sensation instantly made Shang Lu’s blood run cold.

Father Shang once held her neck like this. Of course, he didn’t have any intention to kill her, nor did he exert much force. He just knew that using this method could easily make her stop crying and never dare to cry or make trouble in front of him again.

The instinct of the body is the desire for life. She tried to grab Wang Rong’s hand and push him away, then weakly knelt down on the ground.

Following that, self-doubt and self-questioning started to emerge—

If nothing had happened, if everything had ended, would it have been a good outcome?

Wang Rong kicked her legs as if he was treating her like trash that should have been discarded long ago.

Xue Zishan quickly stepped forward to stop him, and her lines were slightly modified due to this detail. She said, “That’s your daughter! Besides, marks on the neck and face can be seen by others!”

Shang Lu didn’t confront her parents, but instead, she curled up weakly in the corner, slowly extending her hands to hold her knees.

In that moment, she was somewhat unable to distinguish between reality and acting.

As Jiang Jing had directed, in that instant, she finally truly became Song Yanxue.

Tears fell without any pattern, no longer considering the aesthetic presentation of the camera, but rather real, making every person in the audience hold their breath involuntarily.

They empathize deeply, and if this weren’t a performance, they would eagerly rush forward to grab Shang Lu’s hand, taking her away from this suffocating and oppressive family, becoming the one who saves her.

This is not a scene from the script.

The assistant director glanced at Han Cheng, wanting to say something, but Han Cheng waved him off.

Supporting herself against the wall, Shang Lu slowly stood up, unable to comprehend as she asked, “If I obediently listen to Dad and Mom’s words and fulfill all Dad and Mom’s arrangements, will Dad and Mom love me?”

“Of course,” Mom replied, reaching for a tissue to wipe away the tears on Shang Lu’s face and comforted her, saying, “You are our only child. As long as you do everything right, how could your Dad and I not love you?”

In an instant, Shang Lu’s beautiful eyes reflected confusion, hesitation, and a choice.

She was so afraid of death.

But she was equally afraid of living.

She began to reminisce about the only day in over twenty years when she considered giving up on life, although it had nothing to do with Father Shang.

It was the most complex intertwining of emotions that made her turn to the mirror beside her, constantly attempting to wear the most obedient smile, just like she used to, with a false mask on her face.

Although she was smiling, there was a sense of relief in her eyes because she had made the final decision, even though it was a bit crazy to do what she knew she shouldn’t.

Her voice was hoarse as she said, “I understand, I will do my best.”

As the scene was finally completed, just as Shang Lu had expected, it was done in one take.

Jiang Jing had also arrived at some point, probably watching for a long time, and she handed Shang Lu a bottle of yogurt with a gentle smile, saying, “I knew you could do it.”

Wang Rong and Xue Zishan also admired Shang Lu, amazed that someone of her age could portray the character at such a level. It was truly remarkable.

Even Han Cheng looked at her and casually complimented, “Not bad, keep it up.”

A faint smile appeared on Shang Lu’s lips.

It felt great to receive so much praise and recognition from her seniors.

And it felt great to turn her past weaknesses into tools.

Due to Shang Lu’s excellent performance, the filming schedule for the drama <Life’s Journey> became shorter. Two days before the recording of the fourth episode of <The Most Hated Her and Him>, Shang Lu officially wrapped up. Coincidentally, it was the same day as Cheng Zhe, so the production team prepared flowers and cake for both of them to celebrate the wrap.

Shang Lu held a sunflower and stood next to Cheng Zhe, posing for a group photo with the crew.

Cheng Zhe, as always, resisted any interaction with Shang Lu. He hadn’t watched any of Shang Lu’s performances these days, and the two of them barely had any contact. So, at this moment, he could only smile politely at the camera for the group photo and didn’t spare Shang Lu a second glance.

Shang Lu didn’t pay much attention to Cheng Zhe either. After all, Cheng Zhe had helped her, so even if he disliked her, he should still be a good person.

Apart from Cheng Zhe, Shang Lu got along well with everyone else on the set.

Xue Zishan was especially good to her, treating her like a younger family member. Xue Zishan spent the most time with her on the set. Even Wang Rong jokingly said that Shang Lu was stealing his wife.

Shang Lu was easy to get along with and didn’t put on any airs when she didn’t have scenes to shoot. She was like a lucky audience member with a VIP ticket, enjoying other people’s performances. The crew members’ impressions of her improved over time, and someone would save her favorite mango whenever fruits were distributed.

Yu Qi also liked Shang Lu a lot and would occasionally initiate discussions with her about other characters because she knew that Shang Lu had a deep understanding of the entire script, even the supporting roles.

So when it was time for Shang Lu to finish filming and leave, Yu Qi felt a little regretful and said, “Why is it so soon? If I had known, I would have written more scenes for your character.”

Shang Lu, holding a skewer of roasted rice cakes given by the crew, answered while eating, “I haven’t left yet. You can still talk to the director and add more scenes for me.”

Han Cheng couldn’t help but laugh at her audacity and said, “What do you take my crew for? Forget about it! But we can consider working together in the future.”

Shang Lu’s eyes lit up and he asked, “Really?”

Han Cheng showed an impatient expression and replied, “Why would I lie to you? I have a good script in my hands, but Yu Qi hasn’t finished writing it yet. There’s a character in there that suits you well. Come for an audition when the time comes.”

Shang Lu : “!!!”

With such a good opportunity presenting itself, Shang Lu naturally agreed without hesitation, saying, “Okay.”

In the harmonious atmosphere of the entire crew, a staff member suddenly hurried over with a worried expression and said, “Teacher Shang, it’s not good.”

Shang Lu looked at her in confusion and asked, “What’s wrong?”

The staff member hesitated and said, “Outside, someone is looking for you… It’s Mr. Jiang.”

Shang Lu responded with a questioning look, “?”

The staff member continued, “And there’s a truck filled with sunflowers.”

Shang Lu : “??”

“They’ve already started unloading them, and they’re all piled up outside on the ground.”

Shang Lu : “???”

Shang Lu felt like her ears were about to go deaf. She had never heard of such a ridiculous thing in her life.
