Chapter 134 Horde Invasion: Race To The Base
Lee Seng held the injured Rose in his arms and picked up speed. The older gentleman easily kept up with him while Ritsuka, Felicia and Jason closed the back side of the group. They began to slightly turn right. The sounds of the three black veined goblins screeched behind the group. Lee Seng's ears twitched and he turned to look at the branches to their left.
"One's chasing on the branches above to the left!" Lee Seng shouted.
"Is that so?" The older gentleman chuckled. "I hope you aren't wrong!" The older gentleman began to draw runes on his left hand. Lee Seng noticed the runes were simple but quickly became more complicated as time passed.
"Don't destroy the whole forest, Sir Xavier." Rose shouted.
"When did I ever destroy anything, Rose?" Sir Xavier chuckled. He turned to look up at the trees. The form of a black veined goblin quickly moved from branch to branch with ease. "Young ones, you might want to get ready for a loud impact."
"Ah fuck, sir! Why do you have to do--" The sword warrior began to shout when Sir Xavier released the rune spell. A loud and large blast of wind ripped the trees apart to their left and sliced away at the black veined goblin.
"Holy shiit!" Ritsuka shouted as wind whipped at them. Lee Seng readjusted his hold on Rose as they continued.
'The old man is seriously strong!' Keng spoke. Lee Seng watched the black veined goblin began to rip into pieces in the air, quickly disappearing.
"Runic magic." Lee Seng spoke. "I never thought I would see a rune spell that strong."
"You're familiar with it?" Sir Xavier asked.
"Yes, sir."
"Good, good. You know what to expect then. I can't hold back with the runes I draw, so youthful ones, bear yourself more attacks." Sir Xavier started to draw eight similar runes and then released them. "Protection, eight." A yellow aura enveloped the eight and Lee Seng could hear Felicia 'wow' in surprise.
"You're not just a Glass?" Ritsuka asked. "But a Observer as well?!?"
"And why do you say that?" Sir Xavier asked.
"You just did a protection rune spell, right?"
"And what if I did?"
"Sir Xavier, now's not the time to play around with the students!" Kory shouted. "We're almost there!" The group continued forward as the screeching black vened goblins slowly started to gain speed. Rose glanced behind and shook her head. She lifted her hand and pointed it at the goblins.
"I hope you can take the shock effect of my power, student." Rose said. Before Lee Seng could even ask what she was going to do, Rose let out a bolt of electricity that arced past Ritsuka and Jason. Electricity crawled across Rose's body and onto Lee Seng. The bolt of electricity hit one of the black veined goblins, forcing the goblin to temporarily freeze in its stun and tumble onto the ground.
Lee Seng shook his body as the electricity continued to climb around him for a bit longer. He made a uncomfotable face as Rose moved her arm back.
"That feels... weird." Lee Seng shuddered.
"Welcome to my world. You get used to it enough without the necessary gear on." Rose spoke. A loud screech in front alerted Lee Seng and the group quickly came to a stop.
"There's goblins ahead of us!" The sword warrior shouted.
"Kory, Tristan, kill them. Students, we'll have to stall the remaining black veined goblins!" Sir Xavier ordered.
"Alright, let's let loose!" Kory happily swung his staff. Kory and the sword warrior rushed forward and began clearing the goblins. Lee Seng turned around and watched as the black veined goblins came closer.
"What do we do? We couldn't even dent one of them hard enough alone." Felicia reminded the group.
"What's your powers?" Sir Xavier asked.
"Pyrokinesis." Jason answered.
"I can summon soul weapons." Ritsuka raised his hand.
"I can create a growing shield with the amount of damage I take or block." Felicia answered.
"And you?" Sir Xavier glanced at Lee Seng.
"I can manipulate gravity." Lee Seng answered.
"You can set me down, student." Rose tapped. Lee Seng nodded and slowly set down Rose who used Sir Xavier to stand straight.
"Three Fighters and a tank." Lee Seng answered Sir Xavier's next question before he even spoke. "I'm a Specialist. I can fight both front and back."
"Ahh, this'll be fun then!" Sir Xavier smiled. He started to quickly draw runes and then watched as they turned colorful and flew straight at the goblins. A rush of wind pushed past the group and sliced at the goblins as Rose discharged another bolt of electricity. Wind and electricity stunned the black veined goblins.
"Angerfang." Ritsuka summoned the red scythe. He dashed forward and swung at the right goblin as Jason rushed the left with his burning fists. The two made direct impact with the black veined goblins and sent them tumbling backwards. Lee Seng's ears twitched and he turned left to watch a black veined goblin release its black liquid at Sir Xavier.
"Sir!" Lee Seng shouted. Rose and Sir Xavier turned to watch as the black liquid flew closer to them. Lee Seng felt the familiar rush of vibrations exit his body and a huge gravity bubble erupted around them. The black liquid slowed as Sir Xavier pulled Rose backwards. Once they cleared the black liquid, the bubble popped and the black liquid whipped into the ground where Sir Xavier stood.
"What the hell was that?" Rose asked.
"Just a trick I learned." Lee Seng answered. He pulled his katana out, again and moved to face the black veined goblin on the tree branch. "I guess this is a good time as any to really practice some new moves."
"S-student will you be okay?" Sir Xavier asked. Rose discharged two more bolts of electricity at the two goblins, stunning them again. Angerfang shimmered bright red as he smiled.
"You're dead meat!" Ritsuka shouted. With a quick swing downwards, Ritsuka impaled the black veined goblin with Angerfang. "Absorb." Ritsuka commanded. Angerfang pulled the Dark Matter from the goblin as Ritsuka pulled backwards. The black veined goblin began to erupt in black liquid as it stumbled.
Jason and Felicia started a barrage of attacks onto the stunned black veined goblin, moving it farther and farther away with each punch. Jason slid to the left while Felicia summoned her shield and slid right. The two rushed forward as the goblin snapped out of its stun. Black liquid tentacles shot out of its body and whipped around. Felicia blocked and felt the shield pulse with energy. She grunted as she threw the black liquid tentacles away, creating an opening for Jason.
Jason rushed forward, arms igniting with the warm flame energy. He lifted his arms to block the black liquid, taking impact and burning his way through. Jason swung a right hook into the goblin's face and followed up with a barrage of hits before igniting his foot and slamming it into the side of the goblin.
The goblin bounced backwards, igniting into flames. It began to screech as it rolled. Red runes began to appear around Jason. Jason jumped backwards as huge pillars of flame shot out from the runes, scorching the black veined goblin to bits.
Electricity flew outwards, arcing into the side of the other black veined goblin. Ritsuka twirled Angerfang and held the scythe blade to his left.
"Discharge, Angerfang!" Ritsuka commanded. With a swing, Angerfang released the red energy outwards. The red energy slammed into the black veined goblin and pushed it into the pillar of flames.
Lee Seng's body shimmered and in an instant, his fox mask appeared on his face. He leapt forward and swung diagonally downwards at the black veined goblin on the treetop. With a single swing, a blast of gravity erupted out and severed the trees in front of him in half. The black veined goblin flew backwards with the impact, slamming into the ground below.
Lee Seng twirled his blade and watched as the black veined goblin stood up with a single shallow cut. The goblin rushed forward and swung its back at Lee Seng. Lee Seng and the goblin began to attack and block each other. Black liquid surrounded the bat and each swing shook Lee Seng harder.
The goblin swung downwards as Lee Seng jumped away. The ground erupted into a dirt cloud and the goblin moved forward into it. Lee Seng could hear it swinging again. The metal bat impacted with his thigh, moving him to the right. Lee Seng slammed into a half-cut tree and groaned as the goblin began to rush him again.
The golden and white wisps shimmered loudly in his ears. Lee Seng groaned and jabbed his scabbard at the goblin. Each stab sent out a gravity blast. Lee Seng could feel his Dark Matter draining.
'I'm being really wasteful.' Lee Seng thought as he swept as swing with his katana. The black veined goblin hopped backwards. Lee Seng pushed himself up and grunted.
"Fine." Lee Seng groaned. The scabbard and katana erupted into gold and white. Wisps quietly screeched as Lee Seng smirked. "Test one, does devour work with my katana?"
