“Don’t cry, Korin! You’ll attract more zombies otherwise!”

Ten minutes into my exploration in the horror dungeon ‘Underground Tomb of the Shinigami’.
I was wandering around the dimly lit passage while pulling along Korin who was shaking in her boots by hand.
“I mean, I feel the same, you know? I already took down so many zombies, but I haven’t got the special item…”
It was getting boring and exhausting.
I lost count of how many times I’d been through the same passage, of how many zombies’ heads I blasted into pieces… but I hadn’t even got any clue about the special evolution.
I had even tried to break down the walls a few times, thinking that there might be a hidden area somewhere, but I’d only get nothing but [※Dungeons are indestructible] messages in return. Haa~.
“What about you, Korin? You’ve killed a lot of zombies too. Have you got the ‘Cursed Ring’?”
“Sniff… not yet…”
Korin’s cat ears drooped.
Yeah, the rare drop that she was looking for was the same ‘Cursed Ring’ that was the core item of my build.
Oh, of course, I’d already got 36 of them. Low drop rates were nothing in the face of my extremely high Luck.
“…I can give you one of mine if you want to, you know?”
“Thank you for the offer, but I can’t accept it, Yuri-san. –After all, I’ve joined the Goddess’ side.”
Saying that, she showed me the short sword in her hand.

–And so, in spite of promising to kill each other, we walked through the tomb in harmony.

We had made zero progress, so we sat down in the corner of the passage.
Pieces of zombies were scattered around us, but Korin’s sense of fear seemed to have dulled. She released a deep sigh “Haah~” without an ounce of fear on her face. “I’m so exhausted after killing so many of those disgusting zombies… Say, Yuri-san, I have a suggestion.”
“What a coincidence, me too.”
With that, we turned our eyes to the door to the ‘boss room’ standing imposingly in front of us.
Now that I thought about it, I’d never explored the room before. After taking down the boss ‘Living Armor Knight’ last time, I’d immediately logged out and gone to bed because I’d been extremely exhausted.
“Looking back, I’ve never taken a proper look around other boss rooms, either. I mean, you wouldn’t have time to when you were duking out with the boss and you’d be able to teleport to the entrance of the dungeon once you’ve defeated it, so who wouldn’t get out right away?”
“Right~. I’m thinking that maybe the boss monster will have a higher chance of dropping ‘Cursed Ring’ than the zombies as well. I’ll make short of work it!” Korin was uncharacteristically confident.

The heavy door then opened with a deep rumble. She steadily advanced along the long, dark passage that was revealed behind it.
I followed right behind her, but… Hang on a second.
“I think the door immediately opened to a hall where the Armor Knight was waiting the last time I was here…”
“Really? Well, the developers must have changed the layout with the update.”
“Is that really the case…?”
Korin continued to walk ahead, seemingly didn’t care much about it.
She had been crying like crazy until just a few minutes ago. She sure had grown.
“Hehehe! I may be bad with zombies, but moving armor isn’t scary or disgusting. Don’t you worry, Yuri-san. I’ll quickly defeat it, so you won’t wait long~♪.”
–Dozens of seconds later.
As we walked straight down the seemingly endless dark path—at that moment!

There was a roar that almost burst our eardrums!
I immediately searched the surroundings with wary eyes while being hugged by the frightened Korin…!
Then, in the next moment.
Balls of blue flames appeared in the room and with their eerie glow, the enemy became visible!

Korin screamed as she looked up.
And this time, I couldn’t keep my cool, either.
I mean, there was a massive spider with thousands of ‘Armor Knights’ growing all over it like hair hanging above us–!
The black Armor Knights were wriggling like maggots sprouting from the flesh of the dead, and their red eyes, hidden behind their helmets, all glared at us…!
“—Okay, you’ve gotta keep your word, Korin. Kill it! You can do it!”
“There’s no way I caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan?!”
……A scream as loud as the spider’s roar resounded in the underground tomb.
