Chapter 33: The Macho Man

Proofreader: Prof Zhu Yuan

The next day, little Watermelon opens his eyes in Song Shilin’s arms. Because he cried so much last night, his eyelids are swollen after getting up in the morning.

Song Shilin frowns and tells Secretary Chu by phone, “The meeting this morning will be postponed to an hour. I’ll go to the hospital later. Contact the children’s department.”

Secretary Chu is just about to remind that Song Shilin has a family doctor, but he is silent when he hears that he should contact a pediatrician.

Song Shilin enjoins Secretary Chu, then hangs up, turns around and sees little Watermelon standing barefoot in the living room in a daze.

“Papa... Uncle, I don’t want to go to the hospital.”

Song Shilin looks at him and says lightly, “What hit your head?”

Little Watermelon is stiff, and tears are rolling in his eyes.

Song Shilin doesn’t continue to ask him, “Eat the breakfast on the table, and I will send you to the hospital.”

“May I look for my Papa?” Little Watermelon always thinks about that. He hasn’t seen Bo Yu for four or five days. His upsetting and grievance need to be appeased.

“I can try to contact him.” Song Shilin turns on the computer, begins to deal with the work mail and says without looking at little Watermelon.

The well-behaved little Watermelon finishes the milk and bread.

The doctor coughs awkwardly. In the face of the powerful young father, he always feels unconfident.

Secretary Chu, holding little Watermelon, stands behind Song Shilin, silently reads the phone number of Bo Yu in his heart and prays that Bo Yu doesn’t delete him in WeChat App.

Song Shilin says coldly, “What about the check-up result?”

“There’s nothing wrong. He is just hit by something. I’ll prescribe the unguent for him later. He will recover soon.” The doctor whispers and doesn’t dare to directly look at Song Shilin’s eyes.

“Is there certain food he should avoid?” Song Shilin looks down and asks.

“No. Just pay more attention in the future.” The doctor thinks that this should be the first time for him to be a parent. It is just a little bit of skin injury. He shouldn’t have taken his son to see the specialist. It is a waste of money.

Song Shilin nods, takes little Watermelon from Secretary Chu and says, “Take the unguent.”

Secretary Chu takes the prescription from the doctor and leaves quickly.

Song Shilin just comes back to the car with little Watermelon in his arms and receives a call from Bo Yu.

When the phone is connected, Bo Yu asks blankly, “What’s up?”

“...” Song Shilin hands the phone to little Watermelon.

Little Watermelon feels aggrieved when he hears Bo Yu’s voice. He says all his distress that he suffered in Mo’s house yesterday and complains in a low voice.

Bo Yu remains calm and gently comforts little Watermelon, and then asks why he stays with Song Shilin.

Little Watermelon explains stutteringly.

The child returns the phone. The two adults hold their mobiles, waiting for other’s opening.

Bo Yu clears his throat. “Thank you for that. I... I will come back in thirteen days.”

Song Shilin is silent.

Bo Yu curses in his heart, but for the sake of his stupid son, he can only say, “May I beg you to take care of him in those days? I will come back as soon as possible.” He doesn’t dare to leave little Watermelon to Mo Anyu anymore.

Song Shilin says coldly, “I will ask you for the same reward.”

After saying that, the macho man hangs up without any guilt.

Bo Yu, “...”

Secretary Chu turns his head to look at Song Shilin from time to time. He hesitates in speech.

Song Shilin pretends to fall asleep with the calm expression in the face of crumbling Mount Tai, letting little Watermelon hold his arm.

Mo Anyu looks all over the house and doesn’t find little Watermelon. His reason wanders on the edge of anger.

Dandan lies on the carpet and pretends to be dead.

“Find him!”

“Find the little boy for me! Or all of you get out of here!”

Mo Anyu is furious at the man on the phone.

However, Mo Anyu just orders his employees to look for little Watermelon, and then Bo Yu happens to call him.

“Hello, it’s me.”
