Chapter 35 Convince
“Cut the crap and beat him up. Let him know the consequences of not paying us!”
The driver realized that something was wrong and quickly stood in front of Lu Han.
He held his phone and threatened, “Don’t come any closer. I’ll call the police!”
His attitude has spiked the anger of the workers. They surrounded Lu Han and the driver.
Lu Han had no choice but to retreat until his body was close to the metal frame. There was no other way out.
The contractor took two deep puffs of his cigarette. He said in a hoarse voice, “We only want money…”
Bang! Boom… The scaffolding on the outer wall of the stairs shook violently. Two metal rods fell from the sky. The workers were too scared to react. Lu Han subconsciously pushed the driver away, but the metal rods smashed on him. Blood gushed out of his head. His consciousness gradually became blurry.
The accident made everyone panic, and some even tried to escape.
The driver rushed to Lu Han’s side to perform first aid treatment for him. He lifted his head and glared at the contractor, shouting, “Call an ambulance!”
“If anything happens to Mr. Lu, you will not get a single cent and have to be responsible for the accident at the construction site! Do you understand?”
The ear-piercing sound of the ambulance horn on the TV made Lu Qi worry.
She stared at the phone screen as if she had sensed the accident in advance until the driver called.
Hearing that Lu Han was injured and was in the hospital, the remote control slipped out of Lu Qi’s palm. The bowl in Xie Jiao’s hand dropped, and her body swayed. She could not stand properly.
Mo Chen frowned and asked the housekeeper to arrange for the best physician in the hospital to perform the surgery on Lu Han. Then, he drove Lu Qi and Xie Jiao to the hospital. Mo Chen saw Lu Qi pretending to be calm through the rearview mirror. He felt sorry for her.
In the VIP ward, a thick gauze wrapped Lu Han’s head, and he wore a net-shaped hood. A rubber tube from a ventilator ran down his nasal cavity.
The doctor briefly relayed the patient’s current condition to Xie Jiao. “Mr. Lu’s surgery went smoothly. His body is fine. He needs to rest in peace, and he will be back to normal soon. If anything unexpected happens to him, you can look for me…”
Xie Jiao sent the doctor away after thanking him profusely. Standing by the bed, Lu Qi pondered and felt it was not a coincidence.
She looked straight at the driver and asked, “What exactly happened? Don’t leave out any details. Tell me everything!”
The driver nodded. “Yes, Miss Lu.”
Half an hour later, Lu Qi wore a windbreaker, and she tied her wavy brown hair into a ponytail and headed out. Then, she stepped onto the gravel floor of the construction site in her high heels.
Lu Qi looked at the workers squatting anxiously in the distance. She raised her hand, took off her sunglasses, and asked in a loud voice, “Who’s in charge?”
The contractor stared at Lu Qi suspiciously and asked, “Who are you?”
Lu Qi smiled and said faintly, “The Lu Corporation sent me to deal with the problem… which one of you is going to talk to me?”
The contractor rolled his eyes and decisively threw away the cigarette butt. He walked to Lu Qi and examined the seemingly weak girl.
“Ask a man to talk to us. We don’t want to confront a woman.”
Lu Qi snorted mockingly. She looked at everyone and spoke with a cold voice, clearly conveying the purpose of her visit, “Lu Corporation has already paid the project funds and the workers’ salaries. It’s impossible for them to pay again!”
The contractor immediately raised his hand and pushed Lu Qi’s shoulder angrily. He said fiercely, “Why?”
“Boss, stop reasoning with her. I think I saw her in the Lu Corporation’s news! She’s Mr. Lu’s daughter. If we kidnap her, we’ll get the money…” A few workers urged, “Yes! It’s the Lu family that owes us our pay!”
The contractor hesitated for a moment. Then, he quickly picked up the iron rod and walked toward Lu Qi.
“Don’t fight back. We won’t hurt you. We want the money.”

“Who else wants to come up and compete with
