145 A fool's day

[Saturday]

"APRIL FOOLS!" Sean screamed at the top of his voice.

"I didn't fall for it, you idiot," Ethan said kicking him in the head.

"Well, Owen did." I did not.

"Why do you always do pranks? Can't you just have one year off?" Ethan said.

"Because it's my birthday. What did you guys get me?"

April first, was Sean's birthday, because he is a joke. If you wanted to be harsh to him, you could say that his dad calls him a joke, as his dad left because of Sean. This would be a funny joke with the right audience, but on April fools day, it is a known fact that all jokes are funny regardless of how bad they are... wait? What do you mean some jokes are still off-limits? Isn't April fools day like the purge but with jokes?

"So, Sean?" I said holding something behind my back. "Close your eyes. I got you something."

Since it was Sean's birthday it only made sense to get him something, but what to get him was the question. He isn't easy to shop for. He is one of the hardest people in the world to shop for. Not only do I not know what he already owns, but I also don't know what he wants. He never asks for anything or never talks about anything he wants. So I just got the typical, 'I don't know present'.

"Here you go," I said handing him some chocolate.

"Oh Thank you," Sean said accepting it and eating it immediately.

"I also got you something Sean," Ethan said pulling out a neatly wrapped box from his bag.

"What is it?" Sean asked.

"Open it to find out you idiot," I said to the birthday boy.

"Oh? A metal thing? A puzzle? What is this?" Sean said investigating the strange metal shapes interlocked with one another.

"It's a puzzle. One of those ring puzzle things." Ethan said as if he was proud of his gift.

Sean looked at it closely and attempted to figure it out. He tried with every bit of power he had in his body to try and separate those shapes.

"What you've done is basically given a baby something so you don't have to keep it entertained," I said.

"Well, it was the only thing I could think of whilst I was walking here."

"Thanks, guys," Sean said stuffing his face whilst trying to solve the puzzle.

"Alright, I have an announcement." Several minutes later Sean stood up and began to speak to us. "Lily is pregnant and I'm the dad."

Well, that was not what I was expecting.

"Good one, Sean," Ethan said. "Try and come up with a more original prank next time."

"It's not a prank," Sean said with a straight face. "I'm serious."

"Ok first of all," I said ready to destroy this fools whole joke with facts and logic. "You and Lily are not like that. Sure you may like the girl but that doesn't mean she likes you back."

"I don't like her," Sean said with a void expression.

"Good one, Sean," Ethan said. "Obviously you like her."

Sean attempted to deny the claims that Ethan was throwing at him but he couldn't, his face turned red and he was embarrassed at us knowing.

"When did you find out?" he said.

"We always knew," I replied. "It's not hard to see that you are a good couple."

"Yeah, you two are cute together."

Sean hid his face in his clothes and screamed into his shirt before rolling around on the floor in panic. I've never seen anything like this before. His way of dealing with embarrassment. I think this may even be the first time I've seen him embarrassed.

"Alright, guys. April fools, I got you good. This was all a prank, haha,"
