Chapter 109 - 109 - The Campus Security

Zou Yue sat up with an energetic smile. "Thank you so much for that enlightening message." He got up and started to pull his bags over his shoulders.

"Um where are you going?" the blond girl leaned down and looked at him curiously.

"I'm leaving to g city to find my family. I don't think I have time to waste," he mumbled, tightening the straps of his backpack.

The blond girl cleared her throat. "I don't think you might be able to leave today,"

Yue passed. "Why?"

"Today was scavenger run, so the gates will be filled with those things. You might have to wait until they are cleared,"

Zou Yue frowned slightly. "It's okay, I can fend them off,"

"oh, easy said than done. Those things are not that easy to fight when they come at you in a group," the other kind awkwardly whispered, dwindling with her thumb.

Yue did not answer much after that. 'I have to leave here as soon as possible. Because I need to know... if my family survived or not,'

Besides, Staying here was never a long-term plan.

He walked out of the girl's dorm towards the gates. As the college gate it was fully barricaded with a huge truck and other miscellaneous articles like chair and other stuff. He slowly walked around the campus. This place had a seven-feet wall. This was the reason that the zombies could not enter that easily.

A few groups of students as a part of the vigilance team went around the walls, checking for any rogue zombies.

They all noticed him and just nodded his way.

Yue did not react much to them.

He just glanced at the walls. 'It's too high, I won't be able to check the zombie activities. I need a higher vantage point.'

His eyes directly went towards the huge towering building to his right.

This whole place was shaped like a huge circle; with the centre building as the nucleus and the other faculty buildings surrounded it.

This was also the tallest building, having roughly four floors.

'Wonder what that place is?'

Without any hesitation, Yue walked towards the building. The inside of this place was shaped like a dome with beautiful glass fixtures at the top. It cast colourful shadows whenever the sun hit the ceiling.

Yue held his hands out. in the ray of sunlight, the beautiful colours of the glass work reflected on his delicate looking palm.

'This really is a magical place,' he glanced up. Right at the centre of the dome, there was a weird shadow. It was small. 'Might be a bird or something,'

A huge winding corkscrew like stairwell ran from the centre to the top of the dome.

He noticed a small plaque in the corner that was covered in dust. Cleaning it up snd read its contents. 'This place was an old church but later it was re-modified huh....'

There were only a few chairs, music equipment and other things stored here.

His feet led him over to a small area with a raised floor.

This place was most likely an old chapel. But now it had been renovated into a storage area for things that were not needed.

'Such a beautiful space. But beauty doesn't serve a purpose in this harsh world anymore..'

He started to climb up the stairwell. On the second floor, he noticed few men working on barricading the glass windows.

They all looked his way with a peculiar glance, but he did not bother with them.

He went straight to the terrace. The doors were locked.

'It's not a big thing to break this lock right,' he glanced around. None of the students were walking around the stairwell. 'Oh well, here it goes,'

He clutched the lock and gripped on it tightly. The lock creaked loudly and snapped into two pieces.

'Strength is also a good ability, ah,' he tossed the lock to the side and entered this place.

Suddenly, the hair on the back of his neck stood up. A weird feeling filled his being.

A feeling like he was being watched.

Yue glanced all around. There was no one here.

Even so, he decided to go around the terrace to check for assurance. The huge dome was situated right here. Maybe this terrace was made to make cleaning of the glass work easier. He walked around the circular dome searching for any signs of an intruder.

No one was in proximity to him. He let out a breath of relief. 'false alarm. Wonder why I feel this way.' he massaged the back of his neck.

Zou Yue tossed the bag filled with guns down and shuffled through it carefully.

"I saw Ray tossing in a scope in here," he mumbled, taking the guns out one by one carefully. Most of them were loaded by the security was in place. It was not in a risk of going off on its own.

After a minute of shuffling through, he found wide lens scope inside.

Since he did not have a binocular, he had to improvise. A scope that is used for precision shooting can double as a binocular substitute.

He walked to the corner of the terrace and looked through it. He could see past the wall at the huge hoard of zombies that had collected outside the campus.

'Darn, that is a huge number.'

The zombies crawled on top of each other, trying their best to climb up. Few students pushed the zombies with a stick.

'Why is no one trying to kill them off?'

As far as he had noticed, the students did not kill them off rather, they are only diverted the zombies into another direction.

They might think it's humane, but this was just a stupid decision on their part. The diverted zombies can easily wander back. But along with them, another hoard of zombies might come along.

His eyes peered at the zombies that were banging on the walls aimlessly.

Zou Yue lowered the scope with a deep frown on his face. "Every side of the campus is surrounded. The walls are too high. Jumping down will cause bone breakage... it really is hard to leave this place," he mumbled softly.

Suddenly, he noticed movement at the certain side of the wall. He swiftly glanced through the scope.

Four youngsters stood there with huge luggage of some sorts. They pulled out something from inside.

"What is that?" he peered at it intently. He could spot wheels on it.

"Is that a car? A remote control car?"

He watched as the youngsters toss the car outside.

Yue shook his head. "Tossing it out carelessly is not going to help," he mumbled softly.

But to his surprise, a small parachute opened up for that remote car and it landed at a safe distance from the zombie hoard.

A few of them noticed it and moved close.

Right then, the car started up with blinding lights and a loud blare.

Yue's mouth dropped open. "Oh fuck! They are using the sound and light to pull them away!"

He watched at the youngster control the car away. The few zombies in the outer layer of the crowd followed after the loud sound, leaving behind a part of the wall slightly zombie less.

"These people! How are they so amazing!" he watched all this in complete awe.

The college students drove the small car around until the zombies were moved to the nearby streets. After which, the blaring sound stopped. The car soundlessly drove back and entered the campus through a small dog hole.

The students blocked the hole with a huge boulder as soon as it entered.

"That was just awesome!"

The initial stage of the zombie apocalypse was the worst part. Most of the world's population got destroyed due to their ignorance and fear.

Mostly ignorance.

They did not analyze the zombie's movements.

"If everyone was like these youngsters, then surviving might be very easy," he whispered to himself. He packed all his stuff.

The wall was being cleared. In a day or so, he will get a clear path to escape out of this place.

He walked away.

But unknown to him, a dark figure was watching all of his moves with a dark intent.

After he left, that dark figure jumped down from above the dome and looked at the spot where Yue was sitting on. "That girl had some good stuff. Wonder who she is. I have not seen her before,"

He licked his dry lips just thinking about that girl's small figure. "Looks like I have a new cat to play with. But this kitty might have some claws,'

The man hummed softly and walked down the winding stairwell with a hop in his steps.

Few of his cronies were working meticulously near the windows. as soon as they spotted him they began to shiver in fear "Find out everything you can about her. She is mine,"

the man laughed loudly and walked away.
