Chapter 244 - 244 The Grown Up Little Girl

244 The Grown Up Little Girl

With the fire tornado doing its job very well, Blake and the group only needed to do the cleanup, finishing the remaining dozens of vultures out of the initial hundreds that came to them.

And with both Blake and Cyra using their flames to throw fireballs and Cyra also using her flames as a flamethrower, the job was finished in a matter of minutes as the dozens of healthy vultures soon followed their kin into becoming charred meat.

Robus did help too by throwing his newly built spears to skewer a few or maybe about ten vultures and Vera helped by throwing darkness bullets, and soon the fight with the hundreds of vultures finally ended in under 20 minutes.

When the group settled down and looked at their surroundings, hundreds of floating dark orbs floated above the bodies of hundreds of dead charred vulture carcasses, waiting for anyone to grab them and consume them.

And with that amount of souls, Blake could instantly evolve again if he ever somehow lost his levels back to level 10. But of course, both Blake and Robus didn’t want to eat any of the souls yet before the little fellow they were traveling with finished her evolution.

Cyra certainly had a low level when the two of them first met considering the number of souls that she had eaten so far. Blake, Cyra, and Robus had been into 2 humanoid demons where they ate hundreds of souls, then they also fought and defeated the necromancer, getting themselves a lot of souls again, which led to Blake’s and Robus’ evolution.

They had traveled to the current nether rich zone, fought with more than a hundred enemies, and they even gave all the souls to Cyra, but she still hadn’t evolved yet.

Blake even asked Vera whether Cyra was a special case because she was a variant, but Vera confirmed that Variant could still evolve just like any other demon. But there were fewer of them that did just because they didn’t have the basic natural instincts of other demons to constantly fight enemies, eat souls, and evolve, each of them was different and they couldn’t be categorized into one.

Just like how Cyra would suddenly decide to follow Blake just because he wasn’t dead when she hugged him real tight and she would rather have fun throwing her flames around rather than eat the souls that came out of her victims’ bodies. She didn’t have that ingrained instinct, one that Robus had to defeat his enemies and eat tasty souls to strengthen themselves and evolve.

.....

And the necromancer was also a case where it was a variant doing whatever he wants where he would rather create an army of undead rather than eat their souls first to strengthen himself. Which led to him being almost a complete weakling if not for the undead wolf that had become his literal feet and saved his backside from dangerous attacks.

However, no matter how unique the variants were, they were still demons and they could also evolve.

Blake began thinking that Cyra really couldn’t actually evolve despite Vera convincing him until when Cyra had finally gone halfway through eating all the vultures’ souls and she suddenly stopped moving.

When that moment happened, Cyra was quite a distance away from Blake and the group as she stood on the pile of vulture carcasses while the group waited for her. But when an abundant amount of nether suddenly rushed towards Cyra’s direction, the whole group, even Robus, all jerked their heads towards Cyra as they quickly found the nether were all moving towards her.

Just like how a dark brownish veil of nether covered Robus’ whole body when he evolved, the same thing happened to Cyra as the pure nether that rushed to her started changing its colors and properties.

Different from the dark brown nether that covered Robus, the nether that swirled around Cyra and covered her body was dark red, symbolizing the fire and darkness elements meshing with each other.

The time it took for the nether to gather around her might be faster than when it was Robus’ evolution, but the higher density of nether in the surroundings clearly played a huge part in that.

And even when the nether in the surroundings had stopped rushing towards Cyra and created the dark red veil, the whirl of nether around her hadn’t stopped moving as more and more of them slowly, but surely seeped into Cyra’s body, enhancing it with nether and making her stronger, fit to be a variant of the second demon realm.

The group waited patiently as they had their eyes locked onto the dark red veil that covered Cyra’s body. They had moved closer to look at the process from up close, even Vera was curious and wanted to look at the evolution closer since she had never seen a variant evolve before with her own two eyes.

The thick veil of nether, so thick in fact that it had almost looked like it was liquid, finally started dwindling down as it started to reveal the silhouette of the demon inside.

The change in Cyra’s body wasn’t anything like Robus where she grew 7 meters taller than her previous height and she also didn’t get robust muscles that enabled her to easily uproot a 10 meters tall tree.

If Blake only took a glance, then it would be hard for him to notice anything different just from her silhouette. But Blake didn’t only glance at her evolution.

Blake observed the process carefully and didn’t stop staring in Cyra’s direction even until now when the veil was getting thinner and thinner.

And just from the silhouette, Blake already knew that Cyra did indeed grow taller.

It was not anything drastic where Blake needed to look up to talk to her, she was still the size of an ordinary humanoid demon. In fact, she still looked rather small compared to the humanoid demons that Blake had found in the first demon realm.

He wasn’t directly in front of her, but Blake could guess that she was now about as tall as his neck, which was a significant improvement from before when she could literally throw her whole body onto him and she would only cover about half of Blake’s whole body.

Cyra was almost done with her evolution as the veil of dark red nether around her had almost become non-existent, but Blake and the group still waited until the process finished completely.

And finally, after Cyra opened up her closed eyes, all the dark red nether around her had disappeared, leaving an evolved dark flame variant demon standing alone on top of the pile of vulture carcasses.

“Cyra? Are you oka-” Blake’s words were suddenly cut off as Cyra jumped off the small pile of dead bodies and went straight into his arms.

Her physical strength had definitely increased considering the distance between her and Blake was more than 5 meters away yet she was still able to cross the distance in a single leap, but the most apparent difference that Blake noticed was instead her physical appearance.

Instead of the usual cute little child that Blake could put on his shoulders and take to walk around the park while playing swings, Cyra had not only gotten much taller, only a head shorter than Blake, but her body had also changed from a child to one that belonged to a teenager.

Her hair was still the same, on the brighter side of red despite it having gotten a shade darker after the covenant with Blake, a tone or two brighter compared to Vera’s crimson red hair that looked like the color of blood.

And with her still jumping directly onto Blake, Blake now had to catch someone that looked exactly his own age in his arms as if he was catching an adolescent.

She still used her dark flames to cover up parts of her body, but Blake certainly was caught off guard by the sudden attack.

Fortunately, remembering the girl leaping into him was the same little girl that called her brother, Blake quickly regained his calm as he accepted her properly into his arms.

“I did it, brother! I evolved! Now I can go together with you and Uncle Robus!” Those were the first sentences that she spoke right after finishing her evolution and landed on Blake’s body.

“Yes, Cyra, congratulations on your evolution.” She patted the girl’s head just like before when she was a little girl, not a single thing changed as Cyra liked the warmness of Blake’s hands and the gentle rubs that they gave.

“Now there’s only me left that needs to complete my evolution so that we can all go together.” Blake looked at the barren land in front of him, way past the dead vultures, and landed on something that seemed to be located on the edge of his vision.

He had never seen it before, but Blake knew that it was where he needed to go as the connection that the system gave him told him to go there.

He was so close and he wanted to quickly finish his evolution.

“Yes, you do need to finish your evolution as soon as possible.” Vera suddenly chimed in. “But the very first thing that we needed to do this instant is to get Cyra some clothes!”

The dark flame covers that she had before were still doing their job properly, but compared to when she was a little girl and right now, the dark flame covers could only do so much when her figure had started changing from one that belonged to a little girl to a proper woman.

With a nod of agreement, Blake quickly sent Cyra to Vera as the latter began searching for the dimensional pouch where she stored all her clothes.
