Chapter 2854 Apprehensive Atmosphere

The Golden Crow Clan Patriarch, Soaren Goldsun, and Starlight Jade Wolf King, Fenren Jadelight, both surrounded Mo Tian as they protected him from harm's way that was Dead End.

Still, Davis's gaze flickered as he saw the sudden commotion ensuing within the Fire Phoenix Clan.

A Late Stage Immortal King was at the peak and had died just like that without making a sound. Such a thing would cause anyone to shiver and want to hide in their homes.

Nevertheless, looking closely, Davis saw that there was death energy surging out from the dead body's closed mouth and nostrils ever so lightly.

Davis suspected that it was his master, Deathseeker, who did this assassination. Otherwise, it didn't make sense to him. However, how he accomplished it and managed to escape without attracting anyone's gaze was truly marvelous to him, the apex of assassinations he had seen as this was a hall full of atrociously powerful experts.

Even he didn't dare to have that kind of courage to assassinate anyone in plain sight, much less back then in the Central Primesky Alliance's first-ever event.

He was just too weak at the moment.

Nonetheless, his mind rapidly spun, thinking of how his master Deathseeker could've performed this assassination.

There were many screams echoing in the Fire Phoenix Clan, people grieving the loss of an Elder as they cursed Dead End. However, there was also one other bastard whom Davis saw grieve and couldn't help but almost smile.

It was Tegon Zenflame. Seems like Elder Nagon Zenflame was his grandfather, who probably 'looked after' all his needs.

'Master… you knew I had enmity with those bastards and chose an optimal target...'

Davis felt more and more gratified. He started hoping that it was his master who performed this assassination. Otherwise, it didn't make sense.

After all, who else was going to impersonate Dead End, an Anarchic Divergent, if it wasn't for his master who knew he, Mo Tian, was Dead End, but most importantly, Davis Alstreim?

And this feat was performed soon after he revealed life energy, which should've been shocking to his master Deathseeker at the very least, but he chose to take that opportunity to get him out of suspicion in his own way.

Before, he had always looked at Deathseeker with suspicion, but he never knew what kind of person he was as it was always shrouded in prejudice from his mind.

Now, he was greatly interested in his master's past, wanting to know what kind of person he truly was.

Nonetheless, his gaze went back to the corpse that was being checked, and he saw that there were no visible injuries on the body, which meant Elder Nagon Zenflame could've probably eaten something strange which caused him to die.

However, how Master Deathseeker gave him, that kind of toxic food or pill was unknown.

"Quick, seal the palace. Today, we're not letting Dead End escape!"

Patriarch Killian Zenflame roared with fury as he waved his hands. The palace was indeed shut down.

However, it was already the fifth second after the corpse had been discovered, causing many to feel that it was too late.

With that being the case, everyone turned to look at the Mystic Diviner still standing before Mo Tian with shock inscribed on his face.

They saw that the legacy treasure, Mystic Divergent Illumination Lamp, had gone silent. There were no azure flames anymore, causing Patriarch Killian Zenflame to react.

"What's going on? Does this mean that the Anarchic Divergent is no longer here?" His voice was cold as he gazed around, still looking for suspicious people who could be loitering around.

"This…" That Mystic Diviner appeared quite disturbed, "That's not the case. This treasure simply ran out of fuel after detecting the Anarchic Divergent. Dead End could still be here for all we know."

"…!"

The crowd flinched at those words, looking around with caution brimming in their gazes. Every person became suspicious of other powers, even the person right beside them that they started checking each other.

However, not many people were comfortable enough to allow others to check them, having their own secrets like something that could pertain to their weaknesses, which ensured further disorder. However, the Mystic Diviner's words resounded once again.

"But… but this is the first time the azure flames disappeared in five seconds when it could actually last for more than a minute according to the records..."

"What does that mean…?" asked Fire Dragon Clan's Patriarch, his gaze narrowed.

"Could it be that this legacy treasure reached the end of its life?" Asked the Ice Phoenix Clan's leader.

However, Davis saw that it wasn't Cyclonis Blizzara but someone else, a man in an icy-white robe, appearing to be slightly feminine in looks but still handsome.

"No…" The Mystic Diviner shook his head, "That… that could possibly mean… that even among Anarchic Divergents… Dead End is on a class of his own..."

"…"

Hearing those words and looking at the trembling Mystic Diviners chilled the hearts of many. Some even couldn't help but gasp, finding themselves to be out of breath out of pure dread.

However, they saw the Mystic Diviner with the lamp turning to look towards Mo Tian.

"You… I mean, Saint Mo Tian. You said you were in the eye of the storm during Dead End's Immortal Tribulation. What you encountered is an Annihilative Immortal Tribulation that is sent by the heavens to eliminate the Anarchic Divergent once and for all from the face of any world. Regardless of the reasons for this tribulation, can I know how many… Paragon Beasts… did Dead End encounter?"

At the last end of the sentence, the Mystic Diviner appeared to be highly hesitant, as though fearing for his life that he hushed around at the end.

Mo Tian's gaze also shook as though he looked scared. He lowered his head, his shoulders trembling, "This… I'm not sure… I think it could be something along the lines of nine beasts."

"Nine!?" The Mystic Diviners' eyes went wide.

The gaze of the elders of many powers became one of pure horror!

Davis noticed this but raised his head and appeared to be solemnly contemplative.

"Or was it ten…? Perhaps, eleven…?"

"…"

The Mystic Diviners took two steps back, appearing completely horrified that they started to fear Mo Tian himself, afraid that his words that he was corrupted by Dead End's Annihilative Immortal Tribulation could be absolutely true.

The others also moved away from him, knowing that this kind of karmic burden incurred by Mo Tian could only be cleansed if he passed his Immortal King Tribulation but wasn't that the point?

To not make one's tribulation harder by being near an Anarchic Divergent, essentially sealing their path? Isn't that why they stayed clear from Anarchic Divergents' tribulations, not even nearing them?

They couldn't help but suddenly pity Mo Tian. How a Saint incurred anarchic karmic burden was beyond them.

Mo Tian looked as though he had finally noticed the reactions of the people before he raised his hands in surrender.

"I'm not sure how many I saw since I was completely scared for life as I was running around, doing my best not to come into the gaze of these strange heavenly creatures..."

"Ah… that's normal…" The Mystic Diviner awkwardly stopped and nodded, "No one would dare to see these paragon beasts with their own eyes, lest they be inflicted with a huge amount of karmic burden."

'… Stella and her mother probably saw them alright, though…? Is that because they're Divergents themselves?'

Davis blinked, 'But… I've heard of something good. Hehe…'

His eyes suddenly widened, "But at least I can confirm that I saw like six of them, namely-"

"Ah! That's enough."

"There's no need to mention further."

The Mystic Diviners suddenly stopped him with forced smiles, looking afraid to hear further.
