CH 3.3

Some people looked at Si Luoqing and then turned to look at Ning Qingqing. After comparing the two of them, both of them seemed to have their own merits.

Si Luoqing looked like a delicate and beautiful princess, but even though Ning Qingqing was dressed plainly, she had a charm that someone all dressed up couldn’t have.

Many students in the class knew that she is from the south1 and rumored to have grown up in Jiangnan2. When she’s just sitting, she almost had no presence, but once you catch a glimpse of her, it’s difficult to look away.

Like ink3, she makes people feel tranquil and at peace.

That is an aura that no amount of makeup could replicate.

The song “You Are My Star” had already started playing, but because no one was singing, the accompaniment sounded monotonous and uninteresting.

Just as the atmosphere became more and more awkward, the class president hurriedly picked another duet, skipped to it, and smiled as he tried mediating the situation: “Senior Shen, you can’t say you don’t know how to sing this song, can you?”

“Yeah, I know this one.” Shen Zhiqian picked up the microphone.

It was not the first time he sang this song with Ning Qingqing. One of them had a deep magnetic voice, and the other had a voice serene like water, so they complemented each other well. Toward the end, many students couldn’t help applauding.

So, when the song ended, a classmate asked with a smile, “Senior Shen and Qingqing sing with such harmony4; when are you two planning to get married?”

With this question, the two of them became the center of attention again.

Ning Qingqing didn’t speak, her eyes reflected the flickering lights of the big screen in front of her. Under the lights, the man in front of her seemed to blur.

She heard Shen Zhiqian say, “Why do I keep being asked about getting married recently? I almost mistakenly believed that I am not 26, but 36!”

Everyone laughed: “That’s right, how can the crown prince5 of the Shen clan carelessly marry?”

The classmate might have spoken unintentionally, but soon everyone turned their attention to Ning Qingqing.

All the students present knew that Ning Qingqing transferred to Beijing from the south for school. She dressed simply even during their school days, so her family’s financial situation seemed to be average.

She herself seemed to have never mentioned any of her family members, so presumably, they are not presentable. And even if they really were middle-class, her and Shen Zhiqian’s family backgrounds would be worlds apart.

But the girl was still quiet and indifferent as if she didn’t hear anything.
