CH 14

Yu Cheng accompanied Qin He until late into the night. The next day, Yu Cheng continued to follow Qin He silently, only buying food during meal times and watching him eat.

Regarding what happened that night, the two of them tacitly didn’t mention it. Yu Cheng still ran around Qin He, but Qin He didn’t say much. However, that promise became Yu Cheng’s goal to strive for, deeply remembered in his heart…

After the funeral was handled simply, Qin Wanclear fell ill due to excessive grief and was taking medication. Yu Cheng watched Qin He tirelessly worked day and night, worrying that he would get exhausted, so he took the initiative to recommend himself to take care of him.

“I’ve been chasing after you; I should do something to show you, shouldn’t I? Can’t just rely on words.” Yu Cheng spoke frankly, and his reasons were solid.

Yu Cheng’s tireless efforts were noticed and appreciated by Qin He, who leaned against the door and looked outside at the budding branches.

“Yu Cheng, I agree,” Qin He said.

The two of them were momentarily speechless. Yu Cheng stared with wide eyes, and the playful words on the tip of his tongue were halted. “Agree?”

Qin He had never been a troublesome child; he had never done anything out of the ordinary. But every time, it was because of Yu Cheng. In an era where their relationship couldn’t be openly acknowledged, Qin He chose to follow his own heart when faced with opposition.

Life, accidents, illnesses, these uncertain things, Qin He wants to grasp what he can be certain of. He likes him, doesn’t he? Qin He has been living for others’ opinions for eighteen years, following his mother’s advice and bearing the heavy burden of life. Now he has something precious to him, and he wants to hold onto it.

“You didn’t hear wrong, Yu Cheng; we’re together.” On a sunny and warm afternoon, looking at the growing branches, “I want to hold onto you.”

Qin He gave Yu Cheng’s head a firm pat. “It’s really prickly.” He smiled at the dazed Yu Cheng and walked away. He had found his hope, and his smile was particularly bright.

“Then I’ll grow my hair longer so you can touch it more.” If Yu Cheng had a tail, he would probably be wagging it ecstatically like a dog that wants its owner to pet it more.

The two of them were inseparable. When Lu Ran went to say goodbye to Qin He, he could see Yu Cheng standing proudly next to Qin He. Something seemed to have changed in a place that he couldn’t see…

After school started, with Qin He as his ‘cheat code,’ Yu Cheng made rapid progress. After all, he had a boyfriend. Yu Cheng no longer looked fierce but instead always had a smile on his face wherever he went, even surprising his family. When asked if he was in a relationship, Yu Cheng would just smile and say no. After all, this relationship couldn’t be made public yet.

“Qin He, Qin He, can you change how you call me?” Yu Cheng pouted in the dorm room, his hair gradually growing longer and becoming fluffy. “Couples usually call each other like this.”

Qin He pushed Yu Cheng’s head to the side, and Yu Cheng made a grumbling sound: “Change it, change it, to ‘boyfriend’.”

“Alright, alright, little hedgehog, is that okay? It’s a bit prickly when touched,” Qin He teased with a faint smile. While other boys usually became more angular as they grew older, Qin He seemed to have become gentler.

“Change it, change it to something nicer,” Yu Cheng said, biting Qin He’s finger and speaking unclearly.

“What do you want to be called then?” Qin He blushed as Yu Cheng licked him and tried to pull his hand away.

“You can call me ‘Cheng Cheng,’ others have repeated syllables in their names, so I’ll call you ‘He He’,” Yu Cheng said, becoming more clingy lately and wanting to get close to him whenever they were alone.

Qin He was taken aback. “Just a little hedgehog, nothing else.”

Yu Cheng remained silent, lowering his eyebrows and eyes.

“Then can I call you ‘gege’ (brother)? Only in private, though. ‘Cheng Cheng’ sounds too strange; I usually call you Yu Cheng,” Qin He said, feeling somewhat fearful of this person. Every time he expressed dissatisfaction, Yu Cheng would lower his eyebrows and eyes, making it hard for Qin He to resist.

“Sure, then what should I call you? Boyfriend, Little Qin Teacher, Baby, Good Boy,” Yu Cheng listed one nickname after another, watching as Qin He’s face grew even redder. He leaned in to kiss him, and Qin He seemed dazed for a moment before turning his face away and avoiding his gaze.

Feeling unsatisfied, Yu Cheng turned Qin He’s face back and kissed him. He had wanted to do this for a long time, but they had to be careful in public and couldn’t even hold hands. Yu Cheng always treated Qin He with great care and tenderness, afraid of hurting or upsetting him.

The petals were kneaded and ravaged, their colours becoming even more vibrant. Dewdrops fell on the petals, making the delicate flowers seem as if they might slip away. The fragrance of the flowers filled the room; it was intoxicating and irresistible…

“You’re so sweet.” Yu Cheng hugged him, his face full of contentment. Feeling the rise and fall of Qin He’s chest, Yu Cheng slowly calmed down in his embrace. Yu Cheng suddenly felt reassured. “Darling, let’s go to Changlian Mountain this week and pray for a bracelet. It’s said that as long as two people go together to pray, they can be together forever, even in the next life. What do you think?”

“We haven’t finished this life yet, and you’re already thinking about the next life,” Qin He chuckled lightly, feeling as if he had eaten candy. His voice carried a lazy tone. This person made him feel comfortable and at ease just by leaning against him, like a cat that had just woken up.

“Yes, I want to be with you forever. You are so much more talented and excellent than me, so of course I want to keep you tied to me,” Yu Cheng said, holding Qin He tightly, his pride evident in his words.

“What do you like about me?” Qin He pondered this question for a long time without finding an answer. He was cold and indifferent, and he didn’t understand what this person saw in him.

“Everything about you is wonderful. You are handsome, gentle, attentive, intelligent, and kind; even though you may appear cold, you are soft inside, like a sandwiched candy, incredibly sweet.” Yu Cheng listed all the good qualities of Qin He, it seemed that, in his eyes, everything about Qin He was good. He was someone who would feed cats and also someone who, despite being aloof, would extend a helping hand. Yu Cheng liked him dearly.

For the first time, Qin He realised that he was seen in such a way by someone else, with so many merits that he himself couldn’t see. It was the first time someone had bluntly told him that he was worthy of all the best things in the world.

Yucheng said and did it, and over the weekend, he took people up the mountain. He begged for a red bracelet, with white clouds all around, and the spring was full of vitality as birds perched on branches and flew away.

“Help me put it on.” Yucheng just received the bracelet and reached his hand out to Qinhe. He flicked the bell with his fingers, making a clear sound. “You can’t separate from me now; even if we have a fight someday, no matter where you go, I will be able to find you. But I’m sure I won’t be angry with you.”

Hand in hand, the ringing and clanging of the bell made people feel joyful, as if it were singing for their eternal love.

People in passionate love always believe in many things, longing for a long-lasting and inseparable relationship.

The word “forever” has a fatal attraction to them, as if it is the only wish in their lifetime.

The sincere love of youth is intense, and they start thinking about forever from the beginning…

Happiness has blinded their minds; they are immersed in a honey jar, forgetting the malice around them…

Xian Nan Zhi
