Chapter 128 3 Options

"Hello? I'm here at the location you provided," stated Xavier upon answering the call.

"Hahahahahaha! What a loser! You really cycled here in an hour from wherever you were, which I assume is somewhere near that rundown building that you contacted us from. To add to that, you look like you're just a kid, even if you have that hood and mask on."

The voice was hoarse and borderline robotic. This made it clear that whoever was talking was using some sort of voice modulator. However, from the method of speech and just out of a gut feeling, Xavier could tell that whoever was talking was a female. Or at least had a high-pitched and soft voice.

They also didn't seem mature or aged from the way they spoke. This surprised Xavier almost as much as the fact that they were able to find Zack's location and see him.

"Is that duffel bag you're carrying filled with money? You expect me to believe that an idiot like you who showed up on an old bike could have enough money to afford anything we supply? And even if you did, are you really stupid enough to show up here alone in the middle of the night with that much money?"

Xavier was starting to get annoyed but didn't respond. Instead, he started to look around, before noticing a slight glint of light very far off into the distance that was barely noticeable and most would've missed.

"Are you there, idiot? I thought it might be fun to trade with you since you aren't my typical customer and whoever got in contact with me for you has quite some skills that I struggled to get past, but it seems I was wrong."

"I usually don't do this kind of thing myself, but I guess I should get going. What a waste of time. You're lucky I'm..."

"I'll tell you what you are. You're just some spoiled brat. To think that the famed supplier is just some little girl that has some hacking skills and money," interrupted Xavier while waving in the direction that he had seen the glint of light.

There was silence for a moment before the person on the other side of the phone burst out into laughter.

"It's been a while since somebody has amused me as much as you have. I'm impressed that you spotted where we were stationed and managed to figure out that I'm a woman. But it doesn't matter. I have..."

Before she could even finish, Xavier spoke over her with a smile on his face. He was also starting to get more interested in who exactly was on the other side of the phone.

"Let me guess. You are about to threaten me and claim that you have a sniper aimed at me right now and can kill me at any time, right?"

"I do! And don't test me."

"I don't doubt that, but if you wanted me dead, you would've gotten your men to shoot already. And from the sound of it, you are used to people being afraid of you and doing things from a distance. But that won't work for me."

"What are you trying to say?" she asked, curious as to where Xavier was going with what he was saying.

"In this situation, you have 3 options. Your first is to shoot and kill me right now. If you do, you'll have to deal with my body. I also guarantee you that the person that contacted you on my behalf and quite a few others will one day return the favour. Or you could let me go and risk the fact that you are a little girl being exposed. Or you could agree to meet and do some business, as well as form a relationship of sorts with someone that will certainly prove useful to you in the future."

"First of all, I'm not a little girl. And don't try giving me 3 options like you're in a position of power here..." she responded before trailing off and taking a moment to think about what to say next.

The call fell silent, and they seemed to have muted it on their end.

Xavier gave them time to talk. He was sure that she hadn't gotten to where she was without a group of skilled and capable individuals that she trusted with contacts all around the world.

But after a minute or 2, he decided to speak.

"I'll take it as you couldn't make a decision, so I'll just head back and get some sleep. Thanks for wasting my time, little girl," he said before getting back on his bike and starting to pedal away.

"I told you, I am not a little girl. And I have decided to meet you. Stay where you are and a car will come and bring you to me."

Xavier smiled and so far, although he had no leverage in the slightest, things seemed to be proceeding according to his will. He also couldn't help but be excited to see how things would unfold. Meanwhile, he was relieved that he wasn't actually going to have to cycle back and was hoping that he could negotiate a ride home afterwards.

-

Getting off the bike and planning to leave it there, Xavier sat on the ground and waited for a car to show up. It wasn't long after that a large blacked-out SUV showed up, and Xavier expected nothing less.

Out of the car came 3 large men wearing suits conducting themselves in a similar fashion to those working for the Wolf Gang at the Wild Dog Fight Club. 2 of them were wielding assault rifles, while the third, who was the driver, had a pistol that had been attached to his waist.

Putting his hands up and allowing them to pat him down and also confiscate the duffel bag full of cash, in case it contained weapons or an explosive of some sort, Xavier remained calm and relaxed.

Upon inspecting the contents of the bag, the driver placed his index finger on the centre of his ear before stating, "Cash of around half a million dollars has been confirmed in the target's possession. Please advise next actions."

Somewhere in a penthouse in the city centre lay the one behind it all on her sofa while laughing to herself after hearing that he truly did have the money with him.

"He's either an idiot or fearless. Either way, it'll be interesting to meet him and I've got nothing better to do," she said to herself before instructing her men to bring him over.

At first, she instructed them to kill him if he was bluffing about having money in his duffel bag. However, since he had brought a decent sum of cash to her, the least she could do was to hear him out.

"You've extended your life for a few hours. Let's see if you will live to see the sunrise," she said to herself before laughing and preparing a few things, also excited to see how things would unravel.
