Chapter 15

As Mu Qianyue strolled around the Imperial gardens alone, she found herself losing her way! Her grandfather had been summoned to go to the Imperial Court, and before leaving his only instruction to her was to head to Xuande Hall.

How would she know where the Xuande Hall was when this was her first time in the palace?

This time, the Emperor was holding a banquet, and the ministers were allowed to bring their family. It probably wasn’t anything good, for it sounded like a treacherous plot.

Just as Mu Qianyue was strolling leisurely, the clear and icy voice of a woman entered her ears. “Nalan Jing, who do you think you are? You are merely a blind man, and yet you dare to talk back to me, a princess?!”

Her brows gently creased. Nalan Jing? Was someone making things difficult for him? She couldn’t help but walk forward and hide behind a large tree.

“I… I didn’t do it on purpose…” This was a soft and meek voice, carrying with it aggrievedness and fear.

Looking up, she saw a person clad in white and pristine clothing, his gorgeous and exquisite face looking flustered. His lowered lilac eyes dimmed as though they had lost their luster.

“Hmph! How dare you talk back to a princess? Is this something that can be dismissed by saying you didn’t do it on purpose?” A sneer appeared on Nalan Liuxin’s face. “Someone, teach him a good lesson!”

“You… you can’t hit me. I’m your older cousin…” The meek voice didn’t at all carry an air of authority, but no one saw the fleeting killing intent and mockery in that lowered gaze of his. Underneath his white robe sleeves, his long and slim fingers were tightly gripped together. Yet, he slowly relaxed his grip. Now wasn’t the time to retaliate yet…

“Hur… older cousin? You’re merely a blind fool. How could I have an older cousin like you? Oh, nearly forgot. You’re also trash. Your existence is simply an insult to the Phoenix Shadow Nation!” Nalan Liuxin mocked, before shouting at the two guards nearby.

Bam! One of the guards sneered and threw a fist towards Nalan Jing. The other party was merely a blind man who didn’t know how to retaliate. Word on the street was that despite being a grown man, he didn’t know how to cultivate at all.

A red mark now appeared on that fair and clean immortal-like face from the punch.

Stupid! Mu Qianyue scolded softly. She swiftly snapped a tree branch and with a flick of her finger…

“Tsch…” A muffled sound rang, following which that chunk of tree branch pierced right into that guard’s wrist with 100% precision, going right through like a hot knife through butter. Blood suddenly came gushing out, causing that guard so much pain that his face turned pale as he let out an agonizing cry that sounded as though a pig was being slaughtered.

“Tch, tch…” Another two wind-breaking sounds rang. Those two guards cocked their heads sideways and dropped to the floor, unconscious.

“Who…” Fear and panic appeared on the startled Nalan Liuxin’s beautiful face. She gazed around, yet she didn’t see anyone. Just then, a black gunny sack suddenly descended from the sky and fell over her head. Immediately following that, punches rained upon her relentlessly.

“Aaahhhhhh…” An anguished cry rang out. Shortly after, she fell silent and all movements ceased. Clearly, she was beaten unconscious.

The young lady before her was clad in a purple dress with red plum prints, and her hair was combed into a simple style, while her petite face was shrouded in coldness. A wicked grin flickered across the depths of Nalan Jing’s eyes.

It’s her!

Mu Qianyue got to her feet and dragged Nalan Jing away without a word. Only until they walked a fair distance away, did she stop to take a look at him. Her delicate brows were tightly furrowed, and she seemed very angry. “You’re blind, not stupid. When others hit you, don’t you know to retaliate?!”

Even now she couldn’t figure out why she was such a busybody.

“I… I am no match for her…” The youth bowed his head like a child who had done something wrong, his gaze extremely innocent. Mu Qianyue’s heart couldn’t help but throb in pain. Sigh…

“In the future, if anyone dares to bully you, deal with that person using this!” She declared angrily as she retrieved a small green bottle from her clothing and stuffed it into his hands.

“Oh! Thank you!” He looked up and revealed a faint smile. At that moment, it was as though hundreds of flowers had bloomed. At the same time, it resembled the bright moon in the skies. It bewitched one’s soul so much that one didn’t dare to look straight into his eyes. “Sister, we meet again! It seems that we truly have great affinity. Sister, are you here to visit me? Too bad I can’t see what you look like. But, since your heart is so beautiful, I’m sure you’re even more beautiful in appearance, even more so than the fairies in heaven!”

Mu Qianyue froze. Beautiful heart?

She only knew that everyone feared her, everyone said she was ruthless in her ways. Nobody had ever praised her for having a beautiful heart.

“In the future don’t allow anyone to bully you at will. I don’t like that!”

Nalan Jing’s body froze, as though something had barged into his heart. It was a warm sensation, a feeling of joy, slowly melting his heart that was sealed in ice—In the future don’t allow anyone to bully you at will. I don’t like that!

“Okay!”

Looking at that youth’s clear, lilac pupils that didn’t have any focus in them, Mu Qianyue couldn’t help but reach out a hand to touch his eyes. Yet, her hand halted an inch shy of them and she said in an incredibly gentle voice, “Believe me, I will cure your eyes and let you see the colors and vibrancy of this world again!”

Suddenly from afar, a scream plus the sound of guards’ movements were heard. Mu Qianyue’s brows creased slightly. It seemed that someone had discovered the unconscious Nalan Liuxin and her two guards. She instantly said, “I have to attend to something so I’ll be leaving now. Be careful on your own.”

With that, she speedily left.

Gazing at the young lady’s disappearing back view, his lips curled in an elegant and faint smile as his glaze-like purple eyes seemed to glow.

Believe me, I will cure your eyes…

Lowering his eyes, Nalan Jing gazed at the small bottle in his hands. Black Ant Powder? How did she come to possess something like this?

Although the name Black Ant Powder sounded pretty ordinary, its poison was extremely lethal. One who was poisoned with the Black Ant Powder wouldn’t show any symptoms initially, and only one day later would red dots appear all over the victim’s body, as though he or she had been bitten by ten thousand black ants. Finally, when the venom infiltrated their internal organs, they would die within seven days.

Of course, this Black Ant Powder was only effective when used against those below the Venerate Cultivators level.

But how many Venerate Cultivators were there in this palace?

Mu Qianyue had just gone around the fake mountain when a red figure suddenly appeared before her. That face was as seductive as a demonic spirit, yet also more gorgeous than a woman. His thin lips were faintly curled in a wicked grin, and he was suavely fanning himself with a hand fan.

“Aren’t you bold? How dare you attack the princess? You’ll have to face the death penalty if you’re caught!”

She blinked and raised a brow. “Do you have any evidence?”

“I saw it with my own eyes, isn’t that enough?” Nalan Jie walked forward, sizing up Mu Qianyue without any qualms, his lips curled in a ruminating smile that reeked of malevolence. “You’re that trash, Mu Qianyue?”

Mu Qianyue narrowed her eyes. Dammit, he saw what had happened!

“Heh heh, seems like this time, Brother mistook a luminous pearl for fish’s eye.” Nalan Jie said with a smile, a deep glow wavering in his eyes. To think that trash easily beat the daylights out of a fourth-stage True Cultivator? Interesting.

Looking at the man who was moving closer to her, displeasure flickered across Mu Qianyue’s eyes. She quietly retreated a few steps to increase the distance between the two of them.

“I’d urge you to stay away from that blind man. It won’t do you any good to be associated with him.” Nalan Jie’s countenance turned serious.

“That is none of your business,” she replied with slightly creased brows.

Nalan Jie said with a smile, “Surely you didn’t take a fancy to that blind man?”

“Like I said, it’s none of your business!” Mu Qianyue retorted with a grimace.
