Chapter 36

“Why are you here?” To think he managed to find her so accurately with so many people around. Wasn’t it like finding a needle in a haystack? Although his ears were more sensitive, that was still quite surprising. She didn’t think she would be able to do that.

As though reading her doubts, Nalan Jing said with a smile, “My dear, have you forgotten? I rely on my sense of smell. Your fragrance is very unique and different from the rest. You have the nicest scent among everyone, and it’s also my favorite scent.”

Mu Qianyue’s mouth twitched. “I think even the Howling Celestial Canine’s nose isn’t as sharp as yours.” As she spoke, she tugged at his hand and made him sit down beside her.

“What is a Howling Celestial Canine?”

“Err… it’s a dog with an incredible sense of smell.”

“My dear, are you talking about me?” Nalan Jing asked in a gloomy tone, his expression darkened.

“Pff! No, I wasn’t.” Mu Qianyue nearly spat out the tea in her mouth.

Nalan Jing retrieved a handkerchief from his sleeves and helped her wipe away the tea at the corner of her lips.

“A piece of trash and a blind man. What a match made in heaven. Seems like you two are getting along pretty well.” An unharmonious voice disrupted the peace as Nalan Jie walked over with a scornful sneer as he shook his fan, the lewd intent in his eyes obvious. “Mu Qianyue, I wonder if a blind man can satisfy you? Can he even find where it is?”

A trace of coldness flickered across her lowered eyes, but Mu Qianyue didn’t look up and merely wrinkled her nose. “Jing, do you smell something strange?”

Jing? Nalan Jing’s body froze, a radiant splendor emitting from the depths of his eyes. She actually addressed him as Jing. Suddenly, he felt that this name sounded very nice. After a momentary pause, he snapped out of his trance and cooperatively creased his brows and said, “My dear, I do detect a foul odor. Ooh… I think a dog just farted in front of us. What a revolting smell…”

“Mm. Moreover, it’s a male dog.” Mu Qianyue nodded her head, surprised that Nalan Jing knew to play along with her.

Countenance darkening, Nalan Jie was enraged! “What are the two of you yammering about?” To think he was being insulted by a useless person and a blind man!

“My dear, this dog is barking so fiercely. I’m scared…” Though Nalan Jing claimed to be scared, there was a contemptuous faint smirk on his face.

“Be good. You don’t have to fear anything. I will protect you and won’t let that mad dog bite you.”

Singing the same tune, the duo cooperated seamlessly.

By now, Nalan Jie’s face turned an unattractive shade similar to that of a pig’s liver. With a terrible countenance, he raised his hand and was about to swing it at them…

But before he lowered his hand, Mu Qianyue grabbed him by the wrist, her lips curled in an icy arc. “Third Prince, are you itching for a beating? If you are, I don’t mind treating you of that.”

“Just you wait…” Seeing that he had aroused the attention of the surrounding people, Nalan Jie let out a scoff and turned around to leave.

After he left, Nalan Jing grabbed Mu Qianyue’s hand and meticulously wiped it with a handkerchief, a murderous intent flashing across his eyes for a fleeting moment. “My dear, don’t bother quarreling with a madman like that in the future. You’ll only dirty your hands.”

“Mm, got it,” Mu Qianyue said with a smile. Just now, she had taken the chance to sprinkle some medicinal powder on Nalan Jie as he left. Hmph, she would make him pay the price for offending her!

“My dear, I need to relieve myself. I’ll be right back.”

“Be careful.”

Nalan Jing nodded, deep affection and an unprecedented joy in his eyes as he gazed at the young lady. It was nice to have someone concerned over him.

Nalan Jie had just left the battle arena when he felt the onset of a stomach ache. He hurriedly ran to the toilet. He had just taken down his pants and squatted down when suddenly, a gust of fierce wind leaped at him from the front. Startled, Nalan Jie wanted to dodge, but to his horror realized that he had lost all of his True Essence Energy!

Under this bizarre and strong wind, he couldn’t exert any strength at all!

Bam! With a dull bang, Nalan Jie fell into the manure pit and found himself faced with a retch-inducing stench and a swarm of disgusting insects!

“Aahhhhhhhhhh!….” Letting out an agonizing cry, Nalan Jie nearly broke down. When he raised his head, he saw a white figure staring at him from above, icy murderous intent in those long narrow eyes peeking out from the silver mask. “Remember, there are some women you shouldn’t be lusting after. Thankfully for you, I’m in a pretty good mood today, so I’ll simply punish you by treating you to some feces. If there is a next time, you won’t be so lucky. Hmph!”

With the fluttering of his white robes, that person swiftly left, disappearing from Nalan Jie’s vision like a gust of wind.

As the dueling contest had yet to begin, with nothing better to do, Mu Qianyue strolled about aimlessly. Suddenly, a black figure stood in front of her, obstructing her from going forward. Raising her head, she found herself staring at a gorgeous youth who seemed seventeen or eighteen years of age. He had neatly trimmed sideburns, beautiful brows, eyes that shone like lacquer, and scarlet lips. Wearing a black robe, he exuded a cool and domineering air, steady yet restrained.

There was gentleness and affection in the eyes of that man, who was staring at her with a smiling face this very moment.

Mu Qianyue fell into a daze. Why was this person looking at her with such a gaze? Did she know him very well? To her, this was only their first time meeting!

“Yue’er, so it turned out you were here. I’ve been searching for you for a long time,” the man said with a gentle smile.

Yue’er? Her grandfather and older brother were the only ones who addressed her this way. But she really had no idea who this man was! Could he be a lover of the original owner of this body?

F*ck!

“Why were you looking for me?” Mu Qianyue asked calmly, suppressing the shock in her heart.

The young lady’s aloof and distant tone made Nalan Ye freeze. “Are you blaming me for returning too late? I know you must be mad at me for being away for three years, right?”

Returning too late? Mu Qianyue abruptly recalled the letter she had received two days ago. On that jade pendant, the Chinese characters were written simply: I’m back.

Her countenance changed subtly and she replied blandly, “I’m already Prince Jing’s consort now.”

The intent in her words were obvious: I’m already a married woman now, so regardless of whatever relationship I had with you in the past, it’s over now.

“Yue’er…” A trace of pain flickered across Nalan Ye’s eyes. He went up to grab Mu Qianyue’s hand. “Yue’er, I’ve only been gone for three years. Why are you so distant with me now?”

“Please show some respect for yourself.” A cold glint flashed across Mu Qianyue’s eyes as she retracted her hand. If it weren’t on account that this person was an old acquaintance of the original owner of this body, she would long have walloped him.

As the delicate hand retracted from his own, Nalan Ye felt an empty sensation in his hands, mirrored only by the painful void in his heart. He went up and grabbed Mu Qianyue’s shoulders with both hands, refusing to give up. “Yue’er, I won’t leave again. I will stay by your side and protect you. I won’t let anyone bully you again. Don’t be mad at me anymore, will you?”

She stuck out her hands and kicked out her legs, agilely executing a shoulder throw, yet Nalan Ye dodged it with ease. Nonetheless, Mu Qianyue succeeded in distancing herself one meter apart from him.

“Regardless of whatever happened between the two of us back then, please stop looking for me.”

“Yue’er!” Nalan Ye grabbed her hand. “I was forced to leave this place back then. If I hadn’t done so, the only fate that awaited me would be death. Now that I’m back, I will definitely seize back everything that belongs to me. I will give you an exalted status, this country, everything. Only you are fit to stand next to me and rule this world!”
