CH 4

She’s just a Tool

Once everyone had left, Hua Manman was frantically calling for the system in her mind.

According to the original plot, Prince Zhao should have already had all talks of their marriage cancelled by now.

Why does that cheap father still want her to get married to Prince Zhao on the third day of next month?

What exactly is going on here?

However, no matter how she called for it, the system never gave a response, as if it had crashed.

Now that the plot has deviated from that of the original story, Hua Manman’s heart was in a state of nervous confusion..

Although the supporting female character that she is playing is incredibly brain-dead, this is still a role that’s important to the development of the early and middle parts of “Palace Scheming”. Her entire existence is meant to provide a foil to both the female lead, who is also her blood-related older sister.

The more foolish, brainless, greedy, and selfish she is, the more she can highlight her sister’s cleverness, intelligence, kindness, and generosity.

In other words, she’s just a tool.

When she first read the story, it was from the perspective of the female lead Hua Qingqing. So every time she saw Hua Qingqing vigorously face-slapping female supporting characters, Hua Manman would feel very refreshed. But now that she herself has become the female supporting character that is meant to be slapped, there is only one word to describe her emotions —

Anger!

She’s also a living person with flesh and blood, on what grounds should she be beaten up by people like a living target dummy?

When she first transmigrated, she knew that she had a miserable death waiting in her future. She was unwilling to follow through, and decided to resist.

She wanted to break free from this predetermined line of fate, so that she can live freely and happily.

In the end, she suffered from the system’s merciless punishments.

If she dares to do anything that goes against the main plot, her heart will feel like it’s being stabbed by knives.

Furthermore, the system will occasionally assign her plot-related tasks.

She must complete the tasks as per the system’s instructions, otherwise she will be punished by the system again.

After experiencing the heart-stabbing price of going against the system, Hua Manman gave up on struggling and decided to lie down like a salted fish.

Whatever the system asks her to do, she’ll do. She’ll just live in the present, and live each day to the fullest. Who cares about the rest!

But now that the plot has deviated from the original story, will the system possibly blame her and punish her again?

Hua Manman’s heart was very anxious.

She waited for a long time, and even waited until the next day, but didn’t experience that heart-rending pain that made her wish she were dead.

She secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

It seems like this system is still reasonable, and didn’t force her to bear the blame.

Once she thought about how she wouldn’t have to enter the palace with that many women and share the same limp old cucumber1, Hua Manman’s mood lifted immediately.

At breakfast, she ate two more bowls of congee than usual.

Seeing that Second Miss was in a good mood, Shi Yun cautiously said:

“Second Miss, Master Bo just had someone send over a dress as a gift, when would you like to try it on?”

As long as someone is a woman, there’s no way they’ll dislike beautiful dresses.

Hua Manman is not an exception to this rule.

“I’ll try it on right now.”

Seeing how she did not resist, Shi Yun breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time couldn’t help but feel more distressed. The Second Miss is so pitiful, she clearly already likes someone else in her heart, yet she’s now being force to marry someone else. For this reason, she almost took her own life, yet now she has to put on a strong façade and laugh.

Although she was to be an official wife, she was not to be the head wife, so her wedding clothes could not be a true deep red. Instead, they were a silvery pink.

The chest was embroidered with large peonies, the hem of the wide sleeves hung down her sides, the waist was tied tightly, and the long skirt trailed behind her, both graceful and charming.

The original body of Hua Manman was born beautiful to begin with.

When she wore such a dress, she appeared even more colorful and gorgeous, with almost unbelievable beauty.

It’s just that the wound on her face kills the mood.

When she thought about this, she suddenly remembered the lucky bag that was rewarded by the system.

The system said it was a lucky bag and it really was a red-colored lucky bag, with an ordinary appearance and average craftsmanship.

She opened the lucky bag and found a box of ointment inside.
