Chapter 443 Obsession

Unlike in the smaller strongholds wear organizations that were formed by people from different origins were needed in order to be able to gain a foothold in the stronghold, it was completely different when it came to the big ones.
For example, in the Devin stronghold, the families that were here were mainly strong. Although there were several other organizations that were present inside the stronghold, the dominating forces mainly belonged to the families.

The storm family in which Alicia belonged to was amongst those that had been there during the time that the genetic program was initiated.
Of course, that did not imply that they were actually involved in the research. Instead, they possessed incredible connections that they used to their advantage to gain the level of strength that they currently possessed.
During the years, they have been trying to improve themselves through marriages, battle merits and so on. But, they had not reached the level that they were able to dominate the entire stronghold that they were in.
But still, they were able to make waves inside the entire stronghold, so, the other forces that were present in the stronghold always gave them respect. But still, although they were respected, that did not imply that they were feared by the other forces.
Inside a majestic and futuristic looking mansion, Alicia was humming happily. She had been in a good mood recently, and she was even completely ignoring David.
Despite the fact that David had been so relentless recently, she was no longer as troubled as before. After all, she had orchestrated something, and she was sure that it was going to succeed soon.
At this moment, Ruth entered the living room. She looked at Alicia who was humming happily and asked, "You did something, didn't you?"
"Huh?" Alicia was not paying much attention to her surroundings. Instead, she had already begun imagining what was going to happen after she and Jack got married.

"I asked, did you do something?" Ruth asked with a stern expression on her face as she sat next to Alicia.

I already informed you that you are not supposed to do anything for now as I am continuing with my investigation. But now, you did something." Ruth let out a helpless sigh as she stated.
Had It been that Alicia had not done anything, then, she would have definitely prevented her from doing it. But, there was no need for her to get angry now. After all, even if she wanted, she could not reverse anything, there was nothing that she could do.
It had already happened, so, all that she could do now was to hope that the results would not be catastrophic. Otherwise, not to mention the fact of there being a marriage between the two families, there might actually be enmity that would arise.
"But... But I did nothing!" Alicia shook her head resolutely as she denied it. There was no way that she was going to agree that she had gone against what her mother had instructed. After all, she knew all too well how her mother was.

"Are you trying to disagree? I have already confirmed that you used the inter-stronghold communication system of the family, and communicated with someone from another stronghold." Ruth stated.
Her words startled Alicia. She had never expected that something that she had done in secret was actually easily revealed to her mother.

She knew that, if Jack and Celine continued to spend time together, then, that implied that the relationship between the two of them would only get deeper.

In this way, during the time that her family would have managed to convince the background that was behind Jack, it would not be difficult for her to convince Jack on the issue of marriage.
Of course, she had come up with a plan. She had to ensure that Celine was the one that broke up the engagement between her and Jack. After that, Jack would obviously blame Celine for breaking his heart.

When Alicia heard what her mother said, her heart skipped a beat a little. After all, that was something that she had never considered before. It was true that until now, she did not know Jack's real background.
For that reason, she did not know if Jack actually had the capabilities to look into the communication between different strongholds.
Additionally, despite the fact that the person that had gone over to help her in completing her plot was from an influential background, just like the one that she possessed, it was also true that he was weak as compared to Jack.
If he messed up even before he met up with Celine, then, it was going to be troublesome. After all, from Jack's previous reaction towards her, it was obvious that he would not hesitate to kill anyone that dared to cause trouble.
"I know that you love him. But we don't know if Jack will really love "Mom! What are you saying? Although I really love him, that does not mean that I am going to act like an idiot. I always act after you. In fact, Jack really hates you. But, you have to ensure that the love that you have for him does not get over your head." Ruth stated.
"Mom! What are you saying? Although I really love him, that does not mean that I am going to act like an idiot. I always act after thinking." Alicia replied begrudgingly to her mother.
"I know what you are saying. But, you have to know that, although it might be true that we are supporting you because we think that Jack is the best candidate for your marriage, but, we have to take every step cautiously.
I hope that you are not obsessed with him. After all, you have to be ready for all results that might come out. He now hates you, and if he ends up finding that you are the one that was plotting something against him, then, this hatred might get even worse.
It might reach the extent where instead of waiting for you to appear in front of him, he might begin looking for you. At that time, there is no way that we can make the two of you get married.
Even if the two backgrounds decide on that, what would be the use of you getting married to someone that hates you? Inside a marriage that contains only one-sided love, nothing good is going to come out of that.
In any case, the love that you would be having for him would end up being the source of your misery." Ruth stated everything clearly.
Silence dominated the room. Alicia did not respond to her mother, but, she knew that what her mother was saying was true. But now, she was not willing to give up on the love that she was having.
This was the first time that she had loved someone, and there was no way that she was going to give up on it. She had planned everything clearly. And if this plot failed, then, she would not hesitate to plot another one.
It was just that, she was going to be more careful. After all, she was not willing to experience what her mother had just talked about.
"I will go out and try to make the changes. I will make sure that Jack never finds out that I am involved in this. If that b*stard fails, then, everything has to be placed on him." Alicia stated before rushing out of the living room.
"I hope you are right with this." Ruth shook her head as she muttered to herself.
