When Old Master Lian saw his daughter vomit blood, his icy expression immediately dissolved into shock. He hurriedly asked Fu Xiao to bring her for a checkup.
Shen Yin limped over to the Old Master’s side. “Grandpa, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have acted without thinking.”
“Good girl, there’s no need to say anymore. Nian Nian and I were outside the door just now and heard everything.” Old Master Lian sighed and patted Shen Yin’s shoulder comfortingly. Then, he held Shen Nian’s small hand tiredly. “Nian Nian, don’t leave me, okay?”
Shen Nian batted his eyes and looked at Old Master Lian pitifully. He pouted and said, “Mommy will be bullied if she stays here with me.”
“No.” Old Master Lian coaxed Shen Nian with a smile. “No one will bully your mother as long as I’m around. Don’t worry, I will protect you and your mother in the future.”
Shen Nian did not relent. He only turned his gaze on Shen Yin. He was already furious after hearing those words. Besides, his mother had been the one who was hurt. He could not decide on her behalf.
Shen Yin sighed. She could not bear to see the Old Master beg at his age. “Don’t worry, Grandpa. Nian Nian will remain to keep you company.”
Old Master Lian felt that she had left something unsaid. She only mentioned Nian Nian, but had not made any promises about herself. He still wanted a promise from Shen Yin about whether she would stay. However, he remembered Lian Jing’s gloominess over the past two days, and decided not to meddle in their affairs.
As long as his great-grandson did not leave.
Old Master Lian held Shen Nian’s hand comfortingly and asked the butler to bring the thermos containers over. He smiled and said to Shen Yin, “I specially asked the chef at home to make this. I wanted to eat with you, but my unfilial daughter has caused trouble. I had better visit her. You don’t have to wait for me.”
Shen Yin lowered her eyes and said apologetically, “Grandpa, I’ve caused you more worry. We’ll wait for you to come back and eat together.”
Old Master Lian sighed and did not insist. With the help of the butler, he went to visit his useless daughter.
Shen Nian helped Shen Yin to sit down before squatting down and caressing her ankle with concern. “Mom, is it very painful?”
“It’s alright.” Shen Yin pulled Shen Nian to sit next to her, her heart warm.

Shen Yin looked down at him and said with a relieved expression, “Nian Nian, although we are your biological parents, we are not an ordinary married couple. So Nian Nian, you don’t have to worry or doing anything for me. We just have to get along peacefully with each other, just like strangers.”
“But I can tell that Daddy likes Mommy very much!” Shen Nian leaned into Shen Yin’s arms obediently and said softly, “Daddy will learn how to cook for you and will listen to your every word. Oh right! I saw on the Internet that Daddy is bringing you to the gala!”
Shen Yin looked at him in shock. “That charity gala? You’re mistaken. Lian Jing never mentioned it to me.”
“How could that be?” Shen Nian muttered in confusion. “The Internet clearly said that this is the first time Dad is bringing a female companion to an event. Who else besides you could receive such special treatment from Dad!”
