Mob High School Student makes a promise
And thus, I am now alone with Eihashi-san…….alone with her? Isn’t this bad?
“So Hiura-san uses this road to go home too…..I asked about it when we were at the mall the other day so I knew that you would use a path near the main street but…….”
“R…….Right. Well, I live alone so I looked for a good place that is within 30 minutes’ walk from school when I moved here you see.”
“Is that so? Come to think of it, I did search for my apartment under similar conditions too. It is a place with good security so it was a little expensive though.”
“Yeah…..I chose a place with moderately good security too. Well, since I mainly wanted it to be within 30 minutes’ walk to school, I only didn’t put much thought into the security at first thought.”
Since I am a man, the minimum amount of security is good enough for me. However, Eihashi-san is a girl. It would be better if she has a place with very good security.
At my condominium, you need to have a passcode to enter the place so its security is decently high.
I wanted a place that is closer to school than this one but since the school was near the train station, the places around there are quite expensive so I gave up.
By the way, I thought that I found a good place at first because I thought that I would commute to school using a bicycle. I thought that since I am going to buy one, I should go for a sportbike but a year has already passed and I still haven’t bought one yet. Well, since I never got around to buy one, I still walk to school like this.
“My place is straight ahead from here. What about you, Hiura-san?”
“Mine is straight ahead too.”
“Come to think of it, even though it has already been a week, I’m sorry that I haven’t read the book yet……Umm, I did borrow it from you because I wanted to read it but can you give me a little teaser to help increase my motivation?
The book I lent to Eihashi-san is the SeishunUshi. It is one of my personal top ten favorite light novels but it was some time ago that I read the first volume.
It will be hard to gauge how much of the protagonist’s secret I can give away huh………
“There might be some spoilers but will that be okay with you?”
“Yes. Please, I think I can enjoy it even with a little spoiler. Ah, but please keep it to the things that would make me want to start reading it right away okay.”
Fufu, Eihashi-san said so with a quiet laugh.
“That’s quite a tall order huh…..”
The keywords here would be modern fantasy but how should I explain it to her…….
“Alright……first of all, the story is basically about the male protagonist rescuing the heroine but the stage for this series is set at a school.”
“A school is it? Like the one we are attending?”
“Yeah. It is set in our time after all. The protagonist is in his second year of high school. Also, another thing is that people in this story possess strange abilities.”
“Strange abilities? Is it out in the public? Or is it only a few people who have to keep their abilities a secret?…….Ah, my place is still straight ahead, what about you, Hiura-san?”
“Mine too. That said though, you sure noticed a good point huh! In this story, people start acquiring special abilities around their second year of junior high school to the third year of high school, and it only occurs to a limited number of people. Also, even if you obtained a special ability, it will disappear after you finished your third year of high school. In other words, the adults in this story don’t believe in special abilities.”
“From the second year of junior high school to the third year of high school…..I see! I understand! It is a story about teenagers who possess special abilities and abuse them without understanding the consequence and the protagonist is there to help them right! Ah, I have to turn right here.”
Eihashi-san seems to be more familiar with this kind of fantasy story than I expected.
In this story, there are only two adult characters, a police officer and a reporter. Both of them possessed special abilities before and the other characters are basically all teenagers.
However, unfortunately, Eihashi-san’s guess was a little off.
Rather, at her level of understanding, Eihashi-san should be able to enjoy herself more than enough with this story.
“Sorry but that’s not it! I think I can say this since it was written on the back cover but the ability they got is like an embodiment of their wish. There are only a few characters who can manipulate their abilities as they want. That’s why the main focus of this series is to rescue the heroine who got taken in by her own ability, I think?……it’s alright, I’m turning right too.”
“I see. Hiura-san is so good at explaining. Now I really want to start reading it right away…….by the way, my place is just straight ahead of here……..”
“…….mine too…..”
It took about 5 minutes to reach my place from here but no matter how much our path overlapped, isn’t this too much………
For some reason, we walked in awkward silence until we reached the next T-junction.
“I’m going left here, what about you Eihashi-san?”
“….I’m going right. Uhh, my place is only about 5 minutes walk from here. We live surprisingly close to each other aren’t we?”
“Mine is about 5 minutes from here too…….it’s really close huh.”
Come to think of it, I didn’t really pay attention because I was tired from dealing with those playboys but I do remember that it didn’t take me long to get home after I parted ways with Eihashi-san back then too.
Rather, after I take this left and turn right at the next crossroads, my place is right there. If I walk straight a little bit more and turn right, I would reach the place that I parted ways with Eihashi-san the other day.
…..don’t tell me, it’s the apartment in the back? Is Eihashi-san’s place just behind where I live?
No, I can’t say it out loud. Even if that’s what I think, I must not say it. Some flags should never be raised in this world…….
“Maybe Hiura-san’s place is behind my apartment?”
“I thought that might be it too but don’t you say it out loud!”
“Eh, did I say something that I shouldn’t have…..?”
Eihashi-san was a little surprised because I suddenly raised my voice and anxiously asked me so.
“No, I was just surprised because I was thinking the same thing…..”
…….just now, it was totally my fault. Eihashi-san apologized but it wasn’t her fault at all. Still, she just planted a flag.
“Then that’s fine but……by the way, this place is like a back street so if we turn left and go straight from here, we will reach the main street right?”
“Nn? Yes, it’s the main street. What’s wrong with it?”
It’s indeed the main street that I always used when I return from the mall but is there something wrong with it?
