Mob High School Student Bets

“Alright! It’s over!”

“Now everyone is done right. Good work Akari-chan.”

“Reika～! It was so hard! I hate classical Japanese!”

Ichinose-san pretends to cry as she clung to Eihashi-san.

“Aah, Reika, you are so comely～”

“Fufu, Akari-chan is quaint too you know.”

I can understand the feeling of wanting to use new words you just learned in a foreign language. I guess that also applies to classical Japanese as well. Well, I think that some words are so characteristic that it can be used to tell what kind of person the speaker is too.

Also, I thought that everyone would be dying to make a normal modern conversation after they are done with classical Japanese, like why using comely instead of beautiful now, but that might just be me.

When I was thinking about that, Masato muttered this with a serious expression.

“Aah, seeing this is most wondrous.”

“Nn?”

“Well, seeing two girls hugging each other like this……it’s most wondrous right?”

“No, it’s not like this is picturesque or anything right.”

Besides, rather than picturesque, when two girls are hugging each other, it’s more lily (TLN: Lily = Yuri) right?

No, Eihashi-san and Ichinose-san are just playing so there’s no lily element in the first place, right? That’s why rather than wondrous, it’s more like—-……..yup, it seems my study is still not enough.

“It’s 6pm already huh….. Alright, it’s time for dinner so do you want to grab something to eat?”

“Right. Do you have any place in mind?”

“I am fine with anywhere but it would be better if it’s not too far!”

“Hmm….if it’s me alone then I would have Seiya make something for me……then should we go to a family restaurant?”

Nn? Masato, you just said something I can’t let go.

“No wait, why do I have to cook for you if we are alone.”

“Don’t worry, I will buy the ingredients for you.”

I like cooking so I am not really against the idea of cooking for someone. Rather, if I can cook something good then I want someone to taste it.

However, it’s not the problem of me liking to do it or not. To say this clearly, I don’t want to start cooking now.

“Hiura-san, you’ve always cooked for yourself so I am curious about your skill but…….wouldn’t it be better to find some family restaurant nearby for today?”

“Then let’s go to the family restaurant today. I am expecting your handmade food for the after-party when the test is over okay!”

“That’s nice. Let’s go.”

Right right, let’s go to the family restaurant today, then after the test, I will—–NO WAY!”

“Wait wait wait, what do you mean after the test! What after-party!?”

“Eh, it’s normal to have an after-party when you study together for a test?”

“That’s right, absolutely right! It’s obvious that we will have an after-party! Right, Shiraki-san!”

“Eh? Ah, ye, yeah. Of course. It’s only common sense, right? Don’t you know that, Seiya?”

“No, from the earlier reactions, it was something Ichinose-san just came up with right!”

Or rather, combining with what Masato said earlier, a study group is only something that was used for students to have fun together before the test and the after-party is for them to go wild afterward.

So it’s only a tradition for extroverts who have too much free time huh.

To be honest, cooking for four people is not that much of a problem since no one will see me.

But If I agreed to this after-party, I will be scheduled for the next class change.

I haven’t collected rumors about me so I don’t know for sure but there’s still no blackboard eraser dropping on my head or anyone who borrows my eraser and use the unused edge so far, at least for now my class is not cursed one like the enviable mob or the neglected mob yet.

After a week of turmoil, my class finally settled as the favorable mob.

A favorable mob is a class that will give benefit to those that said mob gets involved with, something like a support class.

By the way, the skill that this class can use is to give the involved party a favorable impression.

“Hello, Hiura-san.”

“Uwaa, Eihashi-san is talking to that guy. She’s so kind that to talk to someone isolated in the class!”

“Hey, Hiura-kun!”

“I heard that Ichinose-san treats everyone equally but that guy……he’s……she’s such a good person to talk to a guy like him as an equal……”

That is probably what I am doing these days but this skill is too costly for a mob.

The cost to activate this skill is insufficient for the mob but unfortunately, this skill is the type that automatically activates.

To replenish the cost of this skill, you need a catalyst. That’s why you must collect them.

There are many forms of catalysts but when you spend them, they all transform into the same thing.

After you used the catalysts, they all transform into [Hate] (TLN: For English audience, I think the word is [Aggro]). it has the effect of affecting people’s emotions. In a negative way that is.

Anyway, if I don’t say anything now, I will end up with an after-party for sure. Still, with it being three against one, I see no way to avoid this.

It’s not like I hate the idea of the after-party itself so I can’t just refuse it. In the first place, I have no memory of refusing someone harshly before so I don’t know what to do anyway.

In other words, I know what to do but I just don’t know how.

This is strangely similar to the time I went to the bookstore with Eihashi-san the other day. I failed last time but this time I have already prepared the perfect excuse.

“How about we do the party after we get the result back from the test? Like, let’s have a party if everyone’s ranking goes up? It would be too late to wait for the complete score to arrive so let’s compare our raw score to the one we got before. If I win I can even throw a takoyaki party at my place you know.”

Since I studied more than usual this time I should be able to do it…….with that thought in their head they, might think that they stand a chance even though this condition is almost impossible to achieve.

In fact, if it’s just Masato and Ichinose-san then that would be easily achievable

However, Eihashi-san has always stayed in second place.

In other words, to achieve this condition, Eihashi-san has to rank first.

I felt a little bad but this is also what I must do to maintain my peace……if Ichinose-san agrees to this condition then Eihashi-san will end up agreeing to it by default!

When I thought so, Ichinose-san raised her voice with a bitter expression.

“But then—–.”

“I understand! Certainly, I shouldn’t be satisfied with only second place after we have studied together on a precious holiday like this! I will do my best. So, if I can get the first place, I’d like to make one request, is that okay?”

When Ichinose-san was about to say something, Eihashi-san suddenly raised her voice.

Eh? This is kinda different from what I expected though……

“Well, I ended up studying today more than the amount I did for the whole earlier test so I think my rank will surely go up by a lot too.”

I knew it. No, I know that he didn’t study much in the past but I didn’t know that he neglected his study so much. Still, his reply is as I expected.

“Hmm…..well, if Reika is okay with that then there shouldn’t be a problem huh? Studying so early should make my rank go up too……….Ah! If Hiura-kun’s rank goes down and others go up, you still have to participate okay!”

Yup, Ichinose-san seems to have noticed my aim.

……eh? But, wasn’t Ichinose-san tried to get me away from Eihashi-san before?”

“If my rank goes down while everyone’s is up then I promise to join the party. Also, I will accept any request from Eihashi-san too. As long as it is reasonable that is.”

I glanced at Ichinose-san while saying that but it seems that she is discussing something with Eihashi-san in a whisper.

“Fufu, it’s been a while since I can study with a goal in mind. I haven’t studied so much for an exam for quite some time already! I will do my best in this one week!”

That’s strange. Why do I feel like she is going to pull it off? Why is she so confident in the first place?

Well, there is this guy that maintains his position in the first place for a year after all, it should be fine…….
