Mob High School Student goes Cashless

Eihashi-san and Ichinose-san probably went to the 100-yen shop on the third floor. They are selling all kinds of seasonings in 100-yen shops these days so they shouldn’t have trouble finding ingredients for Russian Takoyaki.

Since I had to buy a takoyaki pan and ingredients with Masato, we first headed to the cooking utensils section on the basement floor.

Once we are done shopping, we are all promised to meet up at the cash register.

“Alright, let’s buy the pan first. Hmm, which one should I pick?”

“No, don’t just ask me. I hardly cook myself. Well, since you will keep it at your place anyway, why don’t you pick the one you like, Seiya?”

I had a takoyaki pan at my parents’ house but I remember that it was quite an old model and it could only make a few takoyakis at a time. The coating was already expired so if I didn’t apply some oil to it first, it would be hard to peel the takoyakis off too.

Since I rarely make takoyaki by myself, I want one that can make a lot at a time and doesn’t take up too much space in my room. While I was hoping for such a convenient pan, I found a good one.

“Oh, isn’t this the one that put the takoyaki mold on top of a hot plate! Masato, this one is nice right?”

“Oh? Let me see? I see, if you buy an additional mold then you can make 20 at once huh?”

“Right! Besides, I can use the hotplate for other dishes too…..?”

With a hotplate, I can make a lot of things like okonomiyaki, pancakes, and yakiniku…..hm? Aren’t dishes that you need to make with a hotplate too much for someone who lives alone?

If I eat it alone, I think it would be faster to make those things on a frying pan. Maybe a hotplate is more suitable to cook for a group of people?

At my parents’ house, there was a child around the same age as me who always eats what I made together so I didn’t notice such a thing back then. The child was my little sister who is two years younger than me though.

“For the time being, since you might have to make other things besides takoyaki for us in the future too……….let’s go with this.”

“I don’t get why I have to cook for you but I guess with this model, it won’t be collecting dust in the future huh.”

“Steak made on a hotplate is nice too. Well, it’s not for me to decide though. If you are fine with it then we should settle with this right?”

“You are responsible for the ingredients alright. Anyway, let’s see the price……well, if it’s only 3,000 yen then I guess there’s no problem. I will buy this. This much should be cheaper than the ingredients Masato will buy too.”

“……hey, does the ingredients for takoyaki cost that much? It’s true that if you buy 8 pieces at the food court, it costs 500 yen though…..”

That’s right, Masato has to buy all the ingredients for the Takoyaki Party excluding the ones for the Russian game. Except for the octopus, the ingredients are not all that pricey but he will need to buy 4 portions including the octopus. I think it should go up to about 4,000 yen.

“Well, it’s fine isn’t it? By the way, the price they sell at the food court is close to a rip-off but it’s somehow more delicious. It kind of more crispy than when you make it yourself so I think that it is expensive because they added something special in there.”

“Really……..wait, you sure said it like it is someone else’s business huh!”

“It really doesn’t involve me right?”

“Seriously, whose fault do you think it is that I have to buy all this……”

“I already treated you to a lot of things! Well, you have enough money right?”

“Hmm? I’m not carrying any though?”

“Ha? Then what are you going to do?”

“Using [Pay] right? We are living in a cashless society you know.”

Ah, come to think of it, you can get 5% cashback when using cashless huh.

Although VAT has risen, using cashless would leave us with more money even before the tax increase though. Plus, the Vat on food ingredients didn’t increase either.

I was willing to pay in cash but considering the cashback, going cashless might be better. Let’s charge up the cash cards then.

By the way, to get cashback, I have a credit card made under my name.

I only used credit cards for groceries and other necessities. I use the money I got from work when I go out to play or buy something I don’t want others to know like hair wax.

At first, I was planning to deposit the money directly into my personal account but when I got here, there’s no branch of the bank I originally opened an account back in my hometown so it ended up like this.

Since my work bank account is a net bank, I can withdraw it from anywhere so there is no problem accepting the cashback to that account but even though I already went to the trouble of separating my work account from my personal one, I ended up using it like this since I was told that it would be faster.

Well, since credit cards also count as E-money, they are eligible for cashback. From today, I will charge my cash card and start to use it.

Using a credit card to pay 100 or 200 yen is a little weird but if the deal is good then there’s no choice but to use it.

I bought the hotplate like that and headed to the grocery store.

Let’s just say that after charging and paying for the pan, I ended up hearing a lot of barking.

While having meaningless chats, we headed to the grocery corner and finally headed to the cash register.

In the end, Masato uses his phone to scan the barcode and finishes the payment.

“Alright! The rest is to have a party huh? Rather, next time you pay okay?”

“Well, I think that I did something bad to you this time but be moderate in your revenge okay? I will cut the vegetable myself and we can use the eggs at my place after all.”

In the end, we bought takoyaki flour and octopus but we bought whole vegetables instead of the already cut ones and by using the eggs I already have at my place, the total price didn’t reach 4,000 yen.

By the way, I was told to make Agedama too but I turned it down since we would be wasting the oil and it is quite costly as well.

just fried tempura flour

“Oh! You sure bought a lot! The one in Hiura-kun’s hand is the pan and Shiraki-kun is holding the ingredients right?”

Ichinose-san was waiting for us after we passed the cash register. Still, I can’t see Eihashi-san with her.

“That’s right! Wait….hmm? Where’s Eihashi-san?”

“Reika went home first to prepare the tableware and change her clothes. I didn’t want the sauce to spill on my uniform so I decided to borrow her clothes too!”

Certainly, it might be okay just eating it but if we are making the takoyakis on the spot then a lot of things might bounce off the pan like oil, dough, or the sauces.

Well, I always wear an apron when cooking and Eihashi-san should be bringing her own cooking clothes and aprons too right?

‘WHAT ABOUT ME!!’

When Masato screamed so, I decided to lend him my clothes.

With that settled, we headed to my place while chatting with each other.

My next goal is to have Masato eat the spicy takoyaki.

While I was thinking about my goal, I never realized it. Masato seemed to have his own plan as well.
