CH 74

Supporting High School Student Walks By

There are many food stalls only a short walk from the wave pool but since we can’t carry our wallets with us, we went to grab them at the locker room which is located nearby first.

After that, we decided to walk around to check out our options.

“Wow, there’s a lot more stalls than I thought here!”

“Yeah, they built this area for the leisure pools after all. Well, I think the fact that it’s summer also plays a part though.”

“I guess not that many people visit a pool in winter huh!”

“Still, this place has a temperate indoor pool and sauna so I think it’s an exception though.”

“But I don’t think that there will be this many stalls here in winter. The outdoor pools are only open in summer after all.”

“I guess so.”

While we were having that discussion, we went around and see what we can buy at these stalls.

The outdoor stalls sell snacks like Churros, and Popcorn, as well, as the food you can normally buy at festivals like Frankfurter Sausage and Hotdogs.

For the time being, I ordered a cinnamon-flavored Churro. It comes at a price of 300 yen per piece but I wouldn’t feel like I’m at the pool if I don’t have one.

I like them so much that sometimes I want to visit the pool just to have some.

I would buy it in a heartbeat if I spot stalls that sell it but I rarely see any stall sell this thing at summer festivals and it is tricky to make so I have no choice but to buy it here.

“…….when you eat the churros like that it seems really delicious but, is it that good?”

“Well, calling them good wouldn’t cut it. I like their texture and how crunchy their crusts are……….Also, the cinnamon complimented it really well so it leaves quite an aftertaste. There’s nothing more delicious than this.”

“T, that delicious huh…….I feel like I have to try one now………”

Apparently, after hearing how I described it Suzuka wants to try some. She is now looking alternatively between the one in my hand and the Churro Stall.

Cinnamon provides the food with a strong scent so a single waft should make this thing seem really delicious.

Suzuka seems like she never had one before so she looks like she is hesitant to try it but I only bought one for myself.

Still, if I think about it, this is an opportunity to spread the word of the Church of Churros, there’s no way I’m going to overlook this.

“Hey, do you want to take a bite of mine? If you like it then we can buy another one together. There’s no way that you wouldn’t like it though! We don’t have to buy another if you don’t like it too.”

“Eh, Ehhh? I can?”

“Yeah, do you want to?”

“I, I do! Let me try it!”

“S, Sure…..you don’t have to be that enthusiastic though. Here, have some.”

Saying so, I offered the Churro to Suzuka. However, she doesn’t try to eat it immediately. When I wonder why she doesn’t take a bite and glanced at her, her eyes are simply darting around before the offered churro.

“What’s wrong? You’re not going to eat?”

“Ugh, I will, but……”

“It’s fine, just take a bite.”

She said that she would eat it but Suzuka still showed no sign of that at all. She does open her mouth to eat but she always hesitates and turns her eyes away.

It was kind of funny seeing her like this but after a while, Suzuka’s finally faced the Churro with a serious expression as if she just made the determination to eat it.

“Okay…..I’m going to eat it…… I’M GOING TO EAT IT…….!”

“I don’t think that you need that much willpower but…….well, do your best.”

“Alright……! I’m eating it!”

She took a bite off the Churro, chewed it, and swallowed it down.

“So? Delicious?”

“It’s delicious……I think……”

“You think………that’s vague. Still, the cinnamon works very well with it right?”

“Pr, Probably……..”

The Churros dough itself was mixed with cinnamon and although I think that they add plenty of cinnamon powder, Suzuka still only gives me an ambiguous answer.

“Probably?…….so do you like it or not? Do you want to buy another one? What do you want to do?”

“I, I couldn’t tell! But I will go buy another one now so wait here okay!”

“You couldn’t tell?…….then I think we don’t need to buy another on-……”

My words didn’t reach Suzuka as she already sprinted toward the food stall and I was left alone there.

That being said, it seems that she really intended to buy one since I can see that she is currently buying another cinnamon-flavored churro at the stall.

The Churros Stalls have their Churros lined up already so the owner simply packed one in a bag after she paid for it.

“Thanks for the wait! Yup! Churro really is delicious!”

“Nn? Eh, Well, I’m glad you like it…….”

“What is it? You look like you want to say something.”

“No, it’s just you that you said you couldn’t tell how it tasted earlier.”

“T, That doesn’t matter right! More importantly, this is enough for our lunch so let’s go to the next pool! ……..I’m full in more ways than one too……..”

Suzuka runs off while eating her churro so I have to chase after her.

“———going to eat?”

“Let’s eat the Churros! We’re at the pool so we have to eat some right!”

“Is that so. Then, I will——”

“Eh!?……….just my imagination huh……..”

When I heard a pair of familiar voices belonging namely to Eihashi-san and Ichinose-san, I hurriedly looked in their direction but there was no one I could recognize from the direction of the voice.

“Seiya-kun, hurry up! I will leave you behind you know!”

“W, Wait, I’m coming!……there’s no way they could be here anyway……”

I think I was overly conscious since I saw them at the shoot earlier. I dismissed the voices I heard and headed off to join Suzuka.
