Extra Chapter: Fantastic… Monster’s and where to Find Them!

<corny attention noise>

[Do we seriously still need to do this? Like doesn't everyone know what this is supposed to be about?] - Rose

[Just imagine them naked! It always works for me! Mmmmm... naked...] - Veronica

[That's cause your a pervert Ver, that... Wait why do I feel like we've had this conversation before?] - Malaise

[...Repeat.] - Shade

[What is this, a running gag or something?] - Rose

[Don't blame us for the author's lack of imagination!] - Veronica

[I agree, it's not like we would reveal that they literally sat in front of their computer for like an hour trying to figure out how to lead into the Q/A chapter before throwing their hands up in the air and deciding to reuse an old joke from an earlier chapter. No, we'd never talk about how said author is a lazybones procrastinator who waits until the last minute to write something because they agonize over where the story is going to go next. Or how they don't actually know the specific's behind how bracket tournament's work so they looked up the rule's and because they're not really a sport's person they didn't really understand them and are just planning on winging it. Ahem! Yes, we'd never talk about that stuff.] - Malaise

[...Passive Aggressive.] - Shade

[Yeah Mal, you really laid into our creator there.] - Veronica

[Well it's not like said lazybones, procrastinator, unoriginal hack of an author hasn't thought about those things before...] - Malaise

[O-Okay let's move on to something more lighthearted with our second episode of What in the World of Miscalis, Monstergirl Edition.] - Rose

[Right, okay so our lazybones... ahem! Our creator told me that this time they got quite a few questions, in fact they got quite a bit more than they were expecting so this chapter may be a long one as far as Extra Chapter's go.] - Malaise

[Maybe that means this novel is becoming more popular?] - Veronica

[I doubt it, I mean have you seen the writing style?] - Malaise

[Okaaaaaay... Well our first question came after the first chapter with undead in it and my comment about a certain large breasted lich shopkeeper, since these are all connected questions I'll go over them one at a time and answer all of them at once since some of the answer's will be the same for multiple questions.] - Rose

[What do the liches of this world look like generally? What are a lich's racial talents and abilities? How powerful is a lich on average? What is the society of liches like? How do liches reproduce?] - Rose

[Wow that's a good string of questions! Ahem so let's start with appearances. So liches of this world range in appearance with the most powerful resembling either their original form or one that they craft for themselves. These ones are the most dangerous not only because of their abilities but because they are nearly indistinguishable from the living races. As for less powerful liches... imagine a rotting corpse and you'll get the idea.] - Malaise

[Okay next is the racial talents and abilities question. So becoming a lich is actually a result of a complex spell involving blood sacrifices and the mantling of a higher dimensional being, generally once without an actual awareness. The author will eventually explain what higher dimensional beings exist but suffice to say that other than receiving immortality there isn't really any other unique abilities beyond normal undead ones. They do retain near invincibility to physical attacks similar to skeleton's but their magical abilities nearly negate their weakness to fire so that's not particularly useful in damaging them.] - Rose

[As for the last few questions I've answered most of them in detail but I'll go over them loosely. So the average power level of most liches is around an A-Class Adventurer with the range being between B-Class and going even above S-Class with the most powerful being similar in power to lesser dragons. Legend has it that the most powerful lich even ascended to godhood and now stands with the God's but that's just a rumor so no one is sure whether it's true or not. As far as reproduction and society for liches they're pretty much nonexistent. Liches are solitary by nature, requiring a lot of research to achieve afterall, and since they are undead they lose the ability to reproduce. Although it's been said that the highest class lich is able to give birth so perhaps at the highest rank they gain that ability back?] - Malaise

[Phew that was quite a few related questions but we have another couple sets of them so hold on tight!] - Rose

[This next set also has to do with undead, this time it's more general however so they've been separated from the topic above. Anyway... Is the origin of the undead in this world natural or artificial? Do the undead of this world have spell formations within their bodies that animate them? What are the classes of the undead in general? The undead of this world have a magical version of an immune system to prevent decomposition, insects and etc...?] - Malaise

[Wow so this is much more general knowledge of Undead so I'll answer this in one go. Ahem! The answer to the first question also answers the second question and is both, in most cases when you run into an undead it's a natural result of a large amount of mana animating a dead body, in essence you're not really facing the body itself, instead you're facing the driver and unless you destroy the source it'll just move to a new body in an endless wave of reanimating bodies. Technically said creature is referred to as a spirit but since it was never a living being that's not truly correct. It's more correct to class it as a monster similar to a slime if anything. As for classes they have as many as the living do but with the added condition that they can only be as powerful as the original owner of said body so they're limited by the availability of powerful dead bodies. As for the last question the answer is no, since the body is being controlled by a "spirit" they just continue to force the body to move even as more and more of the flesh, in the case of zombies, rots away. There have been reports of more intelligent undead sun drying their bodies to make them last longer however so it's entirely possible that certain undead have been using the same body for far longer than would be normally possible.] - Malaise

[Holy hell really? I thought undead were like the souls of the dead rising out of jealousy for the living or something!] - Rose

[No. Actually when you die, unless you have made preparations for it, your soul is immediately taken to heaven for judgement. Some spells and rituals can trap a soul in an object or vessel but most are either illegal or only used in rare circumstances.] - Malaise

[Okay so this third set of questions have to do with slimes and although we've answered some of these questions already I'll answer them here in detail so everyone can see them. Is what the author told me.] - Rose

[Moving on! What are slime bodies made of? How do slimes reproduce? Are there any kinds of slime that can eat only dirt while leaving the rest unscathed, such as stains on a kitchen apron? I remember that in The Man Picked up by the Gods there was a variant of slime called cleaner slime that could do that. Can Slimes gain extra bodymass by absorbing food or liquids? ] - Rose

[Oh why don't I answer these one's?!? It's about me afterall.] - Karen

[Oh Kare Kare! I didn't realize that you were here too, you wanted to join in?] - Rose

[Yeah, plus I love nerdy overcomplicated answers like these so....] - Karen

[Well take it away my nerdy tomboy!] - Rose

[Right! So the first question is about slime bodies in general but I'll also answer slime reproduction as well. Slimes are actually made of specialized cells that are able to act as sensory organs for sight, sound, and touch all at once. Basically each cell is identical to the next one. It would be accurate to call slime's bacterial colonies on enormous size that have the ability to think as well. The thing that make slime's interesting though is their relationship with mana, or magic radiation in the atmosphere. Slime's are spontaneously born from a high concentration of mana particle's in an area and use it to survive. Because of their size slime's are unable to use diffusion to properly move materials for life around their body and as such they use mana flow within their forms to move nutrient rich fluid throughout their body without a circulatory system. While most of the slime is made of a viscous fluid with a rubbery outer layer the slime core, the so-called heart of a slime, is the only truly solid object and it is also the primary weakness of a slime. A lot of adventurer's think that breaking a slime core is the only way to truly kill a slime and while they're right about it instantly incapacitating them when destroyed as long as a single cell of the core is remaining the slime will eventually regrow itself back to it's original size. Realistically, barring complete annihilation, slime's are effectively invincible with the weaker one's in a constant cycle of destruction and regrowth.] - Karen

[Okay so the last two of the slime questions have to do with their eating habits so I'll answer them together. For the first one about slime's preferentially eating only dirt while leaving the rest of whatever is in their body intact I'll say no they can't. While slime's can adjust their acidity to a certain extent the amount of fine control needed to make themselves only acidic enough to eat dirt while leaving clothing, or people, intact is beyond their abilities. It would be possible to absorb a small outer layer of something but that is only useful on the larger scale such as using slime's for sewer cleaning duty which is currently done in most larger cities. Since slime's can eat just about anything they're extremely useful for sanitary purposes and some cities are known to have absolutely massive slimes roaming the lower portions of it. As for the last question the short answer is yes they do add to their own mass. The long answer is that only non-humanoid slimes grow without limit as most of the intelligent ones condense their body size to keep from getting too large. However! As we saw in a recent chapter humanoid slimes have the ability to rapidly grow in size by allowing their compressed mass to expand again, leading to a giant human shaped slime.] - Karen

[By the way I'm sorry about going ballistic like that, I should have controlled myself better...] - Karen

[W-We'll talk about it in the main story but you don't need to apologize for anything Karen.] - Malaise

[That's right, you're the victim in that situation and besides that you saved us so we're all good anyway!] - Veronica

[...kept us safe.] - Shade

[O-Oh... T-Thank you...] - Karen

[Ahem! Anyway let's move on!] - Karen

[R-Right! So getting back to supposed undead, this time with Vampire's being the main topic. Our questions here is: If they're in your world, are vampires classified as "undead/the living dead" or are they more akin to a species that simply requires blood as sustenance?] - Malaise

[Oh! I know this one!] - Veronica

[Okay go ahead Ver.] - Malaise

[Right! So vampire's are a race just like Succubi and are not considered undead, in fact they're actually subjects under the Succubus Queen Lilim Lilith except for a few isolationists. They do require blood for food however according to my mom they're also able to use "other" bodily fluid's for sus... susten.... to eat. Supposedly there is an entire country of them on another continent but I'm not sure...] - Veronica

[Well that was... surprisingly informative Ver.] - Malaise

[Does she always mention sexual stuff like that?] - Karen

[...yes.] - Shade

[Let's move on to our next set of questions! Our next set is about succubi in general so we'll have Veronica take over on this one as well.] - Rose

[Oh so let's see what we have... Hmm so we have: In this world, succubi are a branch of the demon race, right? I once heard that demons have a cuticle-like skin at the base of the horn that is as sensitive as a beastkin's ears. Are succubi like that too? What are the racial characteristics and skills of succubus? How long and thick is Veronica's tail? How strong is Veronica's tail? If Veronica was using her tail as if it were a third arm to pull the string from that big bow. This means that her tail is not delicate or sensitive enough to prevent her from using it to attack or hang from a branch, right? How are traditional clothes from the country of Veronica?] - Veronica

[Wow there were quite a few about me specifically, is that okay Author?] - Veronica

[They say it's fine but a few of the follow-up questions won't be answered unfortunately as they will be revealed later and a few of them get into spoilery territory.] - Rose

[Oh... well okay then! Ahem so the the first one is only a myth in my culture but Rose confirmed it for me. Apparently Succubi were once a conceptual being called Lust, that represented... Lust. According to Rose and her Grandpa we mated with elves at the time and merged to form what we are now... Wait does this mean I'm related to Fae?!?] - Veronica

[I assume so? Is that important?] - Rose

[Actually yes it is. Fae are super rare on our continent and finding out that an entire race of them was just hiding under our noses this entire time is a bit of a shock!] - Malaise

[O-Oh... well let's answer the next question before we get even more distracted.] - Rose

[So the next few questions I'll merge together since they're all related and answer them all at once. So Succubi in this world look like what you'd expect them to with horns and a tail as well as some of them having wings depending on their evolutionary rank. They're naturally resistant to mental magics as well as having a eye ability that allows them to pinpoint weaknesses in whatever they are looking at. Their entire body is more sensitive than most of the other races with a small patch of skin around their horns being slightly more so. Their least sensitive body part would be their tail which is quite thick and muscular as well as being dexterous, allowing them to use their tails as a third hand. As a result of this yes they would be able to use it to hang from stuff quite easily. Oh and Veronica's tail specifically is 4 feet long and 7 inches around at the base.] - Veronica

[As for the last question about clothing... we're nekkid! Like everyone is naked all the time! Seriously no clothes whatsoever! Boobs and penises flopping everywhere and...! OW!] - Veronica

[Stop lying! Ahem, I'll answer this question since Ver is... indisposed. So the traditional clothing of the succubus country is actually quite thick because of their higher latitude. Being so far north means that the entire country is quite cold so most of the year they are forced to wear fairly heavy furs. That being said there IS quite a few people that go nude during the summer months so my unconscious friend is not completely wrong. Nudity in our homeland is not considered implicitly sexual unless you're doing it to be and as such most Succubi at least are fine with being naked. My own family never subscribed to that though and you know it so wipe that grin off your face Ver!] - Malaise

[Right so moving on to our next question we'll let Shade answer this one since it has to do with her.] - Rose

[Mhm... I'll... do my best... Can shapeshifter change their form to anything or are there restrictions for example by available mass?] - Shade

[...answer is... mana used for large things... run out of mana if too big...] - Shade

[So you use mana for anything larger than your own mass and if it's too big you can't do it?] - Malaise

[Mhm... not as good as... Mother's skill.] - Shade

[Well okay then our next set of questions is about... Wait Lamia?!? Oh damn it's about me!] - Rose

[Hehehe! It's your turn to reveal all the embarrassing details of your race...!] - Veronica

[Ahem... I agree with Ver in that Rose should answer questions about her own people in this instance...] - Malaise

[Damn... Fine then our next questions are: Is only Lily so "bodily affectionate " towards her husband or is that something all lamias do? Are lamias hot or cold blooded? Do lamias shed? What's with that first question!?!? W-W-Why do you want to know about Momma and Papa?!?] - Rose

[Come on Austin just answer the question... I want more of your delicious embarrassed face afterall!] - Karen

[F-Fine! U-Umm... S-So I've been told that Lamia are generally very... <gulp> aggressively affectionate to their partner's... Apparently they also tend to m-mate for several hours at a time... Ahem! Let's get to the second question! As for whether Lamia are hot or cold-blooded the answer is the second one. Because of their reptilian heritage Lamia tend to be cold-blooded, with a few exceptions for some of their rank evolutions. As for the last question about shedding... yes. We do shed and it's embarrassing! At first you get this uncontrollable itching all over your lower body and when you finally shed the peeling outer later your scales feel so sensitive for days after!] - Rose

[Oh that's hot.] - Karen and Veronica

[Stop it you two! Let's keep going since we're almost there.] - Malaise

[R-Right...] - Rose

[So this next question is one I'll take over since it has to do with some of the more complicated things in Miscalis... We know from Karen that Evolution Branches are a thing, since hers was set to "Humanoid Slime" by Master Lao Shi. Is this something all Monster Girls have the potential for, so for example is it possible for a lamia to evolve into a gorgon or for a lizardgirl to evolve into a dragon kin?] - Malaise

[Ahem so all Monster Girls, or Demi's, have branching evolutionary paths they can take with what's available to the individual being dependent on both ability and inheritance. So yes a Lamia CAN evolve into a Gorgon and in fact some of the most powerful individuals of each race are subtypes but said phenotype evolutionary changes are not required and this is the reason that human's seem to think that they don't evolve at all since their own evolutionary path doesn't change their physical appearance until much later. As for Lizard-kin evolving into dragons...? Well it's complicated since if you ask a lizard-kin themselves they'll tell you that their ultimate evolution is into a true dragon... However most scholar's believe that this is complete nonsense and the few dragon's that have commented on such myths view them with scorn and derision so it's doubtful that it's true.] - Malaise

[So our last set of questions are random one's that didn't really fit into any specific category so we'll answer them one at a time.] - Rose

[First up is, Are there Shoggoths and if yes can the fuck with reality on a basic level (example: ignore the rules of physics)?] - Malaise

[So according to the author the answer is yes to both questions however none of said beasts are able to make it to Miscalis due to various reasons so while they exist they do so outside of the actual planet... It's a good thing too since each of the Lovecraftian creature's are crazy powerful and would crush just about everything in their path. That being said don't think that they won't feature in the novel at some point. Wait really we'll have Cthulhu at some point?] - Rose

[.....] - ???

[...hello? Author? Strange, they won't answer me anymore...] - Rose

[Okay next up is, Is there, or has there ever been, a race with one or more futanari members in Miscalis? If so, were they natural or artificial? Would a futanari girl also be inside Veronica's strike zone?] - Malaise

[Oh! I'll answer this since I'm mentioned!] - Veronica

[Go ahead... horndog.] - Malaise

[Okay okay... ahem yes!!!! Yes to all of the questions!] - Veronica

[Be more specific Ver!!!] - Malaise

[Oh right... umm, so the answer to the first one is... mine. Succubi actually have a rare condition where certain member's of our race are born with both fun parts at the same time. I've also been told that their IS a special sexy time drug to permanently grow a penis but Mom always told me to not mention it. As for my strike zone...] - Veronica

[Everything that breathes?] - Karen

[Everything that breathes.] - Veronica

[Hah... how am I not surprised...] - Malaise

[And now our last question but definitely not the least, Is there a race of demi-humans with tentacles? If so, what are they?] - Rose

[I'll go ahead and answer this since it's kindof complicated... So there are several traditional races with tentacles including: Roper's, Octo-Maid's, Abyssal's, and Dryad's. You wouldn't think that last one would count but they use their hair vine's in a similar way to tentacle's so I added them. Now the reason these various races have tentacle's is generally for...] - Malaise

[Yeah they don't need to hear that Mal.] - Veronica

[Well we're almost out of...] - Rose

<corny attention noise>

[Oh and that's our time! Thanks for watching this episode of What in the World of Miscalis! We'll see you next time!] - Rose

[Bye bye!] - Everyone
