Chapter 122 - The Fifth

The man continued to throw coins here and there.

They watched him move at a fast speed towards where SMF's headquarters was located and create, or summon, monsters in his way.

It was obvious that he was really skilled.

The way he ran so fast. The way he dodged all of the monsters. The way he avoided all of the agents. The way he completed his task without anyone noticing and left the scene.

All of them were pointing out that he was really skilled, or he had trained a lot to be able to do this.

Yet, he was captured by CCTVs.

'Was it intentional?'

If he could complete all of those tasks and run away like this while being careful not to confront any monsters or agents, he could also avoid CCTVs if he wanted.

'What is that coin anyway?'

It was still hard to believe that such a thing could be done with a small coin.

"Do you, by any chance, know what that thing is?"

The deputy commander looked at the person who had asked that. She lowered her head and answered the minister of defense's question.

"Unfortunately, no."

"You don't know who that man is either?"

"We've been trying to track him down since the moment we discovered about this, but it's not easy. First of all, we don't even know how he looks like. That person's whole body and face are covered and we can not even take a glimpse of how he looks like no matter how much we check the cameras. We've been trying our best and will continue to search, but I can't tell you anything right now."

The people frowned even more after those words.

"What about the place where the men came from? The footage shows where he goes after the first time he throws the coin, but where did he come from before that?"

The deputy commander closed her eyes and shook her head.

"We don't know that yet either, sir. We couldn't find any footage before the man appeared in that alley. It was as if he just popped up out of nowhere. Also, the person disappears all of a sudden at some point. We don't know where and how he gets away."

The deputy commander lowered her head with her eyes still closed as if she was ashamed of herself for not being able to answer the minister of defense's questions.

People in the room shook their heads with disappointment and started chatting with each other.

Their voices rose and the room was filled with people's voices in no time.

Suddenly, among the talking people, someone pointed at the screen and asked in a loud voice.

"What's that?"

The video was still being played. People in the room turned towards the screen and looked at what the man was pointing at.

The person who had been throwing coins had run from the city center towards SMF's headquarters.

He then stopped after throwing the last coin and started to run in the opposite direction. That said, he was running towards the city center again.

The person kept running. He blended into the crowd some time and hid behind the mobsters the other time. He skillfully avoided any conflicts and ran at the same high speed.

He ran and ran like that.

"Why did he stop?"

However, the person stopped running at some point. That person stopped so suddenly that it was really odd. He stood in one place and looked at something in the air.

"Huh?"

"What is that?"

When the people turned to look at where the man was looking, they also saw something.

There was something floating in the air.

A small dot was floating mid-air with some smaller shiny dots all around it. There were some shiny lines, like lasers, being shot down from the single black dot.

'.....'

Blink

Blink

Kairen opened and closed his eyes.

'....'

He silently stared at the screen.

'Isn't that me?'

The black dot and the shiny dots around it. No matter how much he looked at them, there was no doubt that it was him and his super weak energy beams when he used Float to move up in the air.

"...."

Kairen felt a piercing gaze on himself.

Once he turned his eyes, he could see Reyan glare at him with a burning gaze. Reyan, who was standing on guard in the opposite direction of Kairen, looked as if he was about to shoot aura slashes towards him through his eyes.

"...."

"...."

The two of them silently looked at each other. Cold sweat ran down on Kairen's back.

'Don't look at me like that!'

Kairen averted his gaze and looked away, only to meet eyes with the deputy commander.

"...."

"...."

Even more cold sweat ran down on his back.

'What?'

Kairen averted his gaze again and looked at the air.

"What is that thing in the air?"

"Is that another one of their tricks? That thing is throwing somethings towards the ground."

"That person is also staring at it. Did he return all the way back to reunite with his companion?"

Kairen bit his lower lip.

'Guys, please...'

The deputy commander glanced at him once again. The edges of her lips were twitching.

"Ahem!"

She coughed awkwardly and looked away from Kairen.

"Don't mind that. That is not important."

The atmosphere in the room heated up all of a sudden.

"What do you mean by that?"

"You don't know about that either? What's gotten into SMF? You can't answer a single question!"

"Deputy commander, how can you ignore such a thing?"

The deputy commander lowered her head and pressed her lips on each other. She opened her mouth and talked in a slightly lowered voice.

"It's not as you think. That is..."

She turned and pointed at the dot on the screen.

"...one of our agents fighting the monsters."

"...."

"...."

"So don't mind him. It's not important."

"...."

"...."

The people closed their mouths and looked away and continued their conversation as if there had never been a talk about that dot in the air.

'Wait, how does the deputy commander know about it?'

Kairen peeked at the deputy commander. She was looking down while frowning and biting her lips. It almost looked as if she was trying so hard not to laugh.

'What is so funny?'

Why the hell was he even caught in the camera while he was floating in the air?

'They would say I was an alien attacking them if she didn't stop them...'

Kairen didn't think such a thing would happen when he decided to use Float.

'Why does that dude keep staring at me anyway?'

The person who had started everything stood there and watched Kairen for a while, before continuing to run again.

"Ahem!"

The deputy commander coughed again and clapped her hands.

"Nothing is confirmed for sure yet, so I request you not to reveal anything about this footage to anyone. However, as the situation with Bordkly isn't really good, it would be nice if we could talk things out with their president even if it means we have to show them this footage."

She glanced at the president while saying those words and the president slightly nodded his head.

"We need some time to complete our investigation. I sincerely apologize for our lack of intel in today's meeting."

"No. You were able to find out so much in such a short amount of time. That's impressive."

"Thank you, president."

The president nodded and stood up from his seat.

"Then, let's end the meeting here."

The others also got up from their seats and exited the room one by one.

. . . . . . .

DANG

The man put down the glass cup on the table.

"Did you hear that? What they did yesterday was so badass!"

Someone else picked up another glass cup.

"Yeah. We just shoved them how powerful we are."

"Hehehe! Those fools must be killing themselves to find the culprit!"

"Do you know who did that?"

The other man snickered.

"Don't you know? It was The Fifth!"

"The fifth? Really?"

The man leaned forward a little bit.

"Yep! I saw him when he was coming back from the mission. He was unscathed! Not even a small wound! Not a single dust on his hair!"

"Hehehe!"

"They wouldn't know who he was no matter what they do. The Fifth is the best in stealth after all!"

The man filled his cup and raised it again.

"He is The Fifth! He is no joke!"

"Yeah, hahaha!"

The people all around the table continued to drink and laugh.

Creack

The door of the cafeteria opened and two people walked in.

"OH?"

The man stopped his hand midair and smiled at one of the people walking inside. A small appeared on his face.

"Ooh, bro! Isn't it her? That girl?"

The person sitting next to him nudged him with his elbow and laughed. The man put down his cup and followed the girl with his eyes.

"Heh!"

He looked at her up and down and smiled even more. A teenage girl, with soft and white skin.

He couldn't help but get excited.

SLAM

The door was slammed after the next person entered the cafeteria. The person, whose whole face was covered, paused and looked at him for a moment.

"...."

'What?'

The man grabbed his cup with both hands. He suddenly got goosebumps.

He couldn't see the man's face, but he was sure that the man was looking directly at him.

"..."

He felt his back getting wet with cold sweat.

"Mr. Hey! Aren't you coming?"

The person turned towards the girl who was calling him and nodded.

"I'm coming."

He glanced at the man once more before walking to the young girl that was waiting for him.

"...."

"...."

SMASH

The man threw his cup on the ground. The cup hit the ground and smashed into pieces.

The other people in the cafeteria glanced at them for a second before continuing to do whatever they were doing as if they were used to such things by now.

The man clenched his fists. He glared at the person's back and frowned, his face red with anger.

He knew the meaning behind that person's actions.

"That newbie! How dares he! How dares he threaten me like that?"

It was a threat. That person would always act that way whenever he wanted to get close to that young girl as if he was warning others not to get close.

Seeing his reaction, the others also started to curse that person.

"He goes around all covered up! What? Who does he think he is?"

"He is just a coward! A bitch! He sticks to that girl as if he is her owner or something!"

"He thinks he a big shot only because he is favored a little bit by Boss!"

"Haaa!"

The man took a deep breath.

"Fuck this shit! I don't feel like drinking anymore!"

He cursed and got up from his seat.. Glaring at the person's back, he stumbled out of the cafeteria.
