Chapter 182 - Who Was That Poor Guy?

Geeez

Kairen followed the group and walked to the jungle under the direct gaze of a few certain individuals.

One of those individuals was obviously Kain. Fortunately, as unit 6's deputy team leader and the current unit 6's small team's leader, he had to lead the others so he couldn't do as he desired and stick to Kairen's side the whole time.

That was good.

Kairen was happy.

But there was no need for Kairen to worry as a trustworthy individual was doing his job of sticking to Kairen's side. The individual? Of course, it was Reyan.

Kairen peeked at Reyan for a moment before looking forward again.

'Is he mad or am I imagining things?'

Reyan was frowning so hard that one would think he was planning a murder inside his head. He also kept clenching his hands, making Kairen flinch at the thought that he was going to punch him or something like that.

"Sigh!"

Kairen sighed as he walked forward. There was no point in thinking about it.

They were now going to visit the second temple, the Temple of Nature. It was located in a jungle in the central parts of Hainston, a little bit towards the southwest.

If Stlinct Mountain range and the temple there were considered to be peaceful tourist sites, then this jungle would be the complete opposite. The place was full of monsters to the point that it was forbidden for most people to get close to it. There were no cities or villages around this place and even hunters guilds refused to take care of this land.

The reason? There was no end to the monsters of this place.

As a result, unit 5 alone didn't have enough power to pass through it and reach the temple in time.

On the other hand, Monster Hunting Division was busy clearing other places as the prince of Bordkly would visit their country soon so they had to guard every single spot. Also, the matter with temples and Philomns wasn't something that Monster Hunting Division could, or had to get involved with too much. Captain Neal was one thing but they couldn't call other hunters as well and let them know some stuff that was supposed to be secrets. That was why they couldn't accompany unit 5.

And in the end, who would be a better help than unit 6 with the most number of agents?

"We are entering the jungle. Be on guard."

"Get ready!"

Team leader Dains and Kain said at the same time before the two teams set foot in the jungle that was full of monsters.

KIEEEE

GWAAA

The shrieks and screeches of the monsters could be heard even before they entered the dense forest.

"Hey!"

Flinch

Kairen flinched at Reyan's suddenly scary tone.

Reyan took his sword out of its sky blue scabbard and held it with both hands. He took a deep breath and gritted his teeth while glaring at Karien.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

Kairen, busy preparing some spells in advance, tilted his head slightly.

"Yes?"

"You lied!"

Kairen tilted his head even more.

"...Y-yes?"

Reyan looked around searching for monsters while talking in a somehow angry voice.

"I heard it yesterday. No, I actually read the report written by Glenn in his room."

"...."

Kairen glanced at the team leader who was also at the rear part of the team and not too far from them and then at Reyan.

"Heard what?"

Reyan clenched the sword even tougher.

"You fainted!"

"Ah!"

'He is talking about that!'

Kairen sighed in relief.

He had expected to get scolded because of what happened. He was glad that Reyan was only mad because of that and nothing else.

Kairen had indeed not told Reyan about what happened.

Why would he?

Kain was enough for him. He didn't want any unnecessary attention, especially from Reyan. He didn't have the energy to deal with him.

Kairen was about to nod his head in understanding and start to explain things but he had to halt after hearing Reyan's next words.

"For two days!"

"..."

Kairen blinked and raised his head to look at Reyan.

"Y-yes?"

Reyan continued to talk through gritted teeth.

"And was in the hospital for three days!"

"S-sorry?"

Kairen was confused.

"It was because you got injured in the mission! After telling me to let you go with so much confidence you got injured so bad you were sick like that!"

"N-no wait!"

"It said you were in pain for a whole day!"

"What?"

"And had a deadly fever!"

"Oh my god!"

"Your bones were in a state that you couldn't even walk!"

"I-I what?"

"And they had to do a surgery!"

"They had to... huh?"

"You coughed up blood and fainted! But didn't say anything to me!"

"Um... R-Reayn?"

"Why are you even here? Who let you come to the mission?"

While saying that, Reyan glared at him, making Kairen shiver.

"W-who are you talking about?"

Kairen secretly stepped away from Reyan as he seemed to be really mad and dangerous.

"Don't act!"

"B-but I don't know what you are talking about!?"

What was going on?

Who fainted after coughing up blood and was unconscious for 2 days?

And was in pain and fewer?

And had to stay at the hospital for three days?

Also, surgery for broken bones?

That sounded horrible!

Who was that unfortunate guy?

"Ahem!"

They heard an awkward cough from behind them at that moment. Turning around, Kairen could see team leader Dains looking at the air while his lips kept twitching.

'What?'

It was not like team leader Dains to act like this! What was going on?

It was at that moment...

KIEEEE

The shriek of a huge bird gathered everyone's attention. Followed by it, a huge group of flying monsters appeared from behind the trees.

The whole team went into formation almost immediately with the mages and others with a long attack range being surrounded and protected by the aura wielders.

"You stay back!"

Reyan pushed Kairen back when he was just about to launch his magic attack.

"Pardon?"

A hand was placed on Kairen's shoulder.

"Yeah. Weaklings like you should stay back."

Kairen jerked his head towards Serria who suddenly popped out of nowhere like a ghost.

"P-pardon?"

Serria's sword was slowly becoming wrapped in her black aura.

"Not that I care if a bitch like you gets hurt or anything. Actually, I was really happy after hearing that you suffered so much and were about to die, too bad you are back. Tsk!"

"...."

With a dumbfounded face, Kairen stared at the two people who were talking bullshit.

'What is going on? Who was about to die?'

What were these people talking about?

Looking around with his mouth wide open, Kairen saw team leader Dains once again, who seemed to be trying hard to kill the monsters while biting his lips.

"...."

'What is so funny team leader sir?'

Looking at his face, Kairen wondered.

'Why aren't we wearing masks?'

Why did have to see these people's faces? Being in a jungle doesn't mean you shouldn't wear masks! Hide your damned faces!

The monsters were big in numbers, but not too strong. To the members of the two units, killing them was considered a warm-up.

Twenty minutes later, all of the monsters were whipped out completely.

The agents checked the surroundings once more before resuming to walk forward again.

Kairen, who had been uselessly standing around the whole time without doing anything, slowly approached the even angrier and scarier Reyan. Beside him stood Serria, whom Kairen didn't know was happy or mad and didn't even want to think about what was in her mind.

Kairen thought he had to explain things even though he also didn't like to explain how he fainted. It was more than embarrassing to talk about it, but not as embarrassing as this situation.

While walking to their destination, Kairen explained what had happened to him. It was only after hearing his words that Reyan finally stopped glaring at him as if he would murder him at any moment and Serria stopped peeking at him once a few seconds.

"But what was with that report then..."

Reyan asked while slightly turning his head to look at team leader Dains who was behind them.

"Ahem!"

Team leader Dains coughed awkwardly before starting to wiggle with his guns.

"...."

"...."

"...."

'What?'

The three people turned to each other after seeing the strange team leader.

BOOOMMM

"It's another monster."

"Get ready!"

With the arrival of a huge monster the size of a three-floor building, the whole team once again prepared themselves to battle.

After that monster came another, and after that came a group of smaller monsters. The agents had to kill them one by one while walking towards their destination.

Walking the path of the jungle for hours and killing countless monsters in their way, Kairen couldn't help but think about the new kind of trouble he would get into once they arrive at their destination.
