Chapter 248

248 It’s that bastard!

“Here! Come here!”

The woman told Kairen to come to where she was standing, but Kairen couldn’t do so. Why? Because before he could even think of going there, he was ‘dragged’ there by someone.

“You are making so much noise.”

A man said to the woman as he grabbed Kairen by the collar from behind and dragged him towards a small gap in the walls of the building they were currently inside.

Toss

The man tossed Kairen towards the woman and crouched down behind the wall.

“Aren’t you the one who is making so much noise?”

The woman caught Kairen, who was helplessly flying in the air, and sat him down beside him as if he was a powerless kid.

“....”

.....

He was indeed like a powerless kid when he was with these people.

Who were they? His senior members of The Secret Operations Unit, who were also in this mission.

What were they doing? Supposedly secretly infiltrating one of the locations that were suspected to be a Phliomns base.

From the very first moment Kairen met these two people, he had been dragged here and there forcefully. These two people whose faces Kairen couldn’t even see due to the masks felt too powerful that Kairen wondered why in the world was he even sent on a mission with these two people in it. They were more than capable of taking care of things by themselves.

“Shhh!”

The woman, whom Kairen assumed to be a woman only based on the person’s voice, placed one finger on her face and shushed the two other agents.

“Do you see that door over there?”

She pointed at a door that could be seen through the small broken hole in the wall.

“That’s the entrance of the man building. We can’t go there so we should use the other one there.”

She then pointed at another place.

“The back door, or whatever else it is. There aren’t many people going inside and outside that entrance so it should be fine.”

Kairen and the other male agent both nodded their heads.

“You know what the mission is. We’ve got to go there and find information. We are not here to fight so avoid conflicts at any rate. We’ll go there, search for anything useful, and then come back as if we have never been inside.”

As the woman explained, Kairen got a little bit confused.

“But why aren’t we already attacking this place with all forces?”

The two senior agents turned to him.

“If we know the location, then shouldn’t we attack and capture everyone here? Just like what we did to that base when working on the monster break out in the capital.”

“....”

“....”

The two agents looked at each other before the woman talked again.

“This is different. Back then, we had to make a scene to attract the public’s attention. We also had to act quickly to capture the man behind the monsters’ attack on the capital. Also, that was only a hideout, not a base.”

The woman was explaining all that with a calm and low voice while the three of them were crouched down and curled up in a small space beside the wall of their enemy’s base.

“But now is different. First, we don’t want them to know that we have found out that this place is their base. They will change their plans if they think that we might’ve found out some of their plans. Second, we are not even 100 percent sure that this place is really a base or just some kind of trap. We can’t risk bringing our forces here without first checking everything. And last, attacking Philomns’ bases and capturing them is not our job, but the Special Units’, and as you know already the units are all busy dealing with the war that they won’t have the time and enough forces to attack here as well in the current situation.”

Kairen blankly nodded his head. Seeing his reaction, the woman turned back to look at the door through the small hole in the wall.

“There must be traps installed around that entrance.”

She mumbled.

“Boy, do you sense any magic spells around the door?”

Kairen focused on the area beside the door before nodding.

“Yes. There are a few spells, probably traps.”

“Remove them.”

“...Yes.”

‘You say to remove them as if it’s easy!’

Kairen nagged as he cast a few spells. As he used his mana, a few small and faint cracks appeared in the air, but they soon disappeared. The traps installed around the entrance would be activated if they came to contact with another source of mana, so Kairen had to cast the canceling spell before the traps would go off. That meant, he had only a few seconds to cast 5 spells at the same time.

“Done.”

But doing such a thing wasn’t actually that hard for someone who had to train under Captain Neal.

“Let’s go in.”

Grab

The male agent grabbed Kairen again.

“Yes.”

And just like that, the three people hoped inside the large building.

. . . . .

Tap Tap Tap

The man walked in the hallway until he reached a certain door.

Knock Knock

“Come in.”

After hearing the voice coming from inside the room, he turned toward the little girl accompanying him and spoke in a low voice.

“You wait outside.”

“Yes.”

Claire nodded her head and took one step back. She watched as her Mr. Hey entered to room and the door was closed afterward.

“Hmm...”

Claire hummed to herself as she circled around herself.

“Work~”

She mumbled.

“I hope they would let me as well~”

Tap

She jumped once, stopped circling around herself, and started to move around in the hall while jumping a little bit with each step.

“I want to know what they are talking about~”

They never let her participate in their meetings. Well, not that she expected the master to let such a young and low-ranked girl listen to his plans, but Mr. Hey also never told her anything!

“He isn’t even meeting the master now! The manager of this place doesn’t even have such a high rank!”

And she was still left out of the door.

“I’m just being used as s transportation means!”

She grumbled. Her Mr. Hey always came to her, asking her to teleport him to a place as he had ‘work’ to do there. He never said what kind of ‘work’ he had in such strange locations!

“Anyway!”

She shrugged.

She didn’t mind being used as a transportation means that much. She got to spend time and do a lot of things with her Mr. Hey so she was actually happy. She just hoped that she too could know about the things that her Mr. Hey was doing and help him as much as she could.

Playing around and talking to herself, Claire walked to the other side of the hallway. Moving on a straight path, she arrived at the window at the end of the hall and then returned back to the door of the room where her Mr. Hey went in. Then once again, she walked to the window.

“Where is the next place we will be going... I wonder~”

The girl jumped towards the window and opened it wide.

“The weather here is nice~”

It was a little bit chilly, but not the annoying kind of cold. It felt nice in fact. She opened the window and breathed in the fresh air.

“It’s much better than that small and stiffy hideout-”

Claire, nagging to herself about how small her room was, closed her mouth shut.

.....

“....”

Gulp

And gulped her saliva.

“What’s that...”

Narrowing her eyes, she looked at a small black dot that was moving right under the window. Was that a dot? It was a person!

‘What is going on?’

The window was built in a corner of the hall where it couldn’t be opened completely. It seemed that it wasn’t used much as a lot of dust had piled up on its handle and edges. Claire wanted to poke her head out of the window and see what that person was doing in a corner between two walls of the building, hiding behind the bushes, but couldn’t do so as the window couldn’t be fully opened.

She had no choice but to narrow her eyes even more and look down through that small gap.

“Seriously, what the hell?”

She muttered as she saw one person forcefully dragging another one as they followed the first person.

“Well, not my problem what these Phliomns people do.”

She shrugged again and turned to leave.

“Eh?”

But she had to stop moving again.

“Cracks?”

It was because she saw something strange. Something strange yet familiar.

There were a few small and faint crack-like things floating in the air around the person who was just being dragged by the other. She stared at the cracks before gasping.

“I-isn’t that...”

Her eyes widened from shock.

‘That’s the bastard that broke my Mr. Hey!’
