Mo Yu was really driven mad at Ye Wei this time.

He knew. He knew that Ye Wei was a hypocrite long ago. Just, he never imagined she was so shameless that she could invert black and white right in front of his face.

Mo Yu took a deep breath and sighed. “Mo Yuan, don’t listen to her nonsense. She can only spout baloney……”

Ye Wei asserted, “Nonsense? What nonsense? Aren’t I telling the truth?”

Mo Yu may have some opinions on the current Ye Wei, but he was someone who didn’t want to square accounts in every detail. Moreover, they were once in love with each other. They may be separated now, but even if he couldn’t be friends with her, he didn’t want to be enemies with her.

Mo Yuan narrowed his eyes at Mo Yu. “Shut up, did I allow you to talk?”

Mo Yu, “……”   

In less than 5 minutes, he got the second order to shut up. No matter how dense he was, he could discern Mo Yuan’s rejection and hostility toward him. 

He understood that his identity was embarrassing. Out of the blue, the news broke out. He couldn’t accept it right away, let alone Mo Yuan?

For Mo Yuan, he was an outsider who stole a place in Mo-jia

Ye Wei hid behind Mo Yuan and secretly peeked at Mo Yu. 

Mo Yu’s face was unsightly. His dark eyes showed clear disappointment at her, as if he regarded her beyond saving. 

Ye Wei skirted from his gaze with a guilty conscience. Every man for himself, and the Devil takes the hindmost[1]. Please understand this reason.

Mo Yu who strangely understood Ye Wei’s meaning just by her eyes, …… Ha. Ha.

Mo Yuan ordered, “Go out. Wait for me.”

Ye Wei appeased in a compliant manner, “I understand. I will wait for you outside.”

She fished her bag and stepped a hundred steps back.

This was the first time that Mo Yuan and Mo Yu really faced each other.

Mo Yuan didn’t like Mo Yu. He created lots of obstacles for him at work. Though, Mo Yu solved all those effortlessly. Of course, Mo Shizong’s help was indispensable. And that fueled his hatred for Mo Yu even more. How he wished for Mo Yu just to vanish from this world forever.

He stared at Mo Yu with his gloomy eyes, “So, you are the bastard that my father keeps outside?”

His words were not minced. Mo Yu was caught off guard. He recovered and said, “I only learned of this recently. I am sorry. I know it’s not easy for you to accept it.”

Mo Yuan, “Since you know it, stay away from my Mo-jia. It’s best if you never show your face in front of me again.”

Mo Yu hadn’t expected Mo Yuan to be so blunt. He clarified, “Be at ease. I won’t rob you of anything. Our identity may have changed, but nothing else will change. Everything will be as it is.”

“Heh.” Mo Yuan sneered, “What a saint. Do you really believe that everything will develop as it is? Of course, after all, for you, a lot of things will still be served to your doorstep with a silver platter even if you don’t wish for it.”

Mo Yu peered at him with uncertainty, “What do you mean by that?”

What Mo Yuan hated the most about Mo Yu was, he was a good man who prided himself on being upright and honest. What’s more, everything that Mo Yuan once wanted, Mo Yu could get it without doing anything or wishing for it. 

Mo Yuan no longer hoped for those things. However, if given the chance, he would rather discard those things away than let others put their hands on those things.

Mo Yuan gave a derisive chuckle and whispered, “If you are smart, just get out of here. Otherwise, a good life will only be a far-fetched dream for you. Am I clear?”

The malice in his words was undisguised. Mo Yu shuddered. He stared at Mo Yuan with eyes widened from fright. Mo Yuan’s handsome and fair face sported a smile. The smile was evident, but it didn’t reach his eyes. Mo Yu’s hair stood on end when he realized he was the receiver of such an ice-cold smile.

He initially thought that Mo Yuan just didn’t like him. He thought Mo Yuan would accept him and soften up after he was given time. Undoubtedly, his thought was proven wrong. ‘Dislike’ was an understatement. Mo Yuan presumably couldn’t wait for him to drop dead……

He hated him so?

Because he robbed his father?

Because he thought he would rob him of his rights in the future?

But he wouldn’t…. He never thought about doing so.

“Is there any misunderstanding between us? This should be our first meeting.”

Why did he harbor such deep malice towards him at the first meeting?

He couldn’t understand the reason. Did Ye Wei say something behind his back? He couldn’t be blamed if he thought so. Ye Wei, this woman, could even slander him in front of his face, not to mention behind his back?

Mo Yuan conveyed, “There is no misunderstanding. If you really wanted to prove that you won’t rob me of anything, leave Mo-shi.”

Mo Yuan didn’t reply a word. He spun around and walked away with his cane. Mo Yu wanted to catch up to him, but he was blocked by Xue Zhao. He could only watch Mo Yuan and Ye Wei get in the car and leave.

On the other side, Mo Yuan leaned on his seat with his eyes closed. His tone when he asked Ye Wei was far from warm,  “Today’s matter. Explain.”

Ye Wei peeked at him gingerly and explained, “Mo-xiansheng, don’t get me wrong, I can’t bear to see Mo-xiansheng getting upset over Mo Yu every day. So I went to him today, I hope to have a chat with him and drive him away.”

Mo Yuan stayed silent. The corners of his lips tugged up. He slightly opened his eyes and side-eyed her. 

He had to admit that Ye Wei was indeed a remarkable beauty. He had seen many beauties, but none of them could compare to Ye Wei, who was as magnificent as the blazing sun. 

Even when she was bad, even when her eyes were whirring with calculations, he still thought that she was beautiful.

Mo Yuan caressed her head, not quite believing, “Really?”

“That’s good. I don’t like betrayal.”

“No way. How can I betray Mo-xiansheng? Mo-xiansheng, I won’t let you down. That will never ever happen.”

“I know you won’t betray me. After all, you can’t afford the consequences.”

Ye Wei leaned scrupulously on Mo Yuan’s shoulder, just as a little bird perched upon a man[2]. More or less appearing to be afraid of being found out by him.

The smile on Mo Yuan’s face remained. He closed his eyes once again. His thoughts were obscured. His hand rested on her head, stroking her soft hair like a pet.

Back at Mo Yu’s side, he had returned to the company. He had worries piled up in his mind. Mo Yuan’s last word before his departure haunted him. It made him brood over his previous efforts. Were his efforts tampered with?

He was proud of his performance, he regarded it as an affirmation of himself. Now Mo Yuan said those words, how could he not care?

Mo Yuan also mentioned Mo Shizong, could it be……

His thoughts clouded. At this time, Yang Zijian came over and told him that Manager Chen was looking for him to discuss the development plan for the North City. 

Manager Chen had been on a business trip. He just came back after two days of business trip.

For this project, he spent grueling efforts to take it. He stuffed down his doubt and went back to his word mode. 

Yet, the first words Manager Chen said to him when they met was, “Congratulations. I didn’t expect you to be Chairman Mo’s son.”

Mo Yu thought his words were a bit off. He probed into it in a roundabout manner, “I didn’t know about it before. The Chairman told me everything. Thank you for your care…”

Manager Chen waved his hand with a smile, “This is all due. The Chairman personally found me and told me to take care of you. If something goes wrong with you, I will not live up to the Chairman’s trust. ”

Mo Yu managed to display a smile, “……Thank you very much.”

His fingers curled on his palm. However, he knew that just this couldn’t prove everything. All in all, he worked for Mo-shi. It was not that weird for Mo Shizong to direct his employees to pay more attention to him.

When Manager Chen looked at Mo Yu, he inevitably recalled Mo Yuan, who was gloomy and was hard to approach. He considered that Mo Yu was way better than Mo Yuan and couldn’t hold back his sigh. “The Chairman really cares about you. He has done a lot of things for you. Miao Shuya didn’t understand what Mo Yu was talking about. Nevertheless, her heart ached when she saw him like this. She held his hand and led him to her office. She poured him a cup of coffee and watched him sip it a few times. Then, she said, “Are you better? Have you calmed down?”

Mo Yu rubbed his forehead, “I only discovered today that everything turned out to be an illusion. ”

He divulged everything to Miao Shuya, everything that Mo Shizong had done for him. “Don’t you also think I’m a good-for-nothing? I thought it was because of my efforts. Yet, now I realize that it is because of my ‘relationship’.”

It was a bombshell for Miao Shuya. She was stricken dumb. Seeing Mo Yu’s tangled and pained expression, she comforted, “I don’t.  Although the Chairman gave some helping hand to you, it’s still your own efforts that made it a success. You did a good job, which shows that you indeed have the strength. Don’t deny your achievement just because of the wrong beginning. Besides, the Chairman has no ill intention. Don’t misunderstand his kindness.”

Mo Yu covered his face with his hands. Miao Shuya told him that, but he still couldn’t accept it.

He understood that Mo Shizong only did it to give him a chance and nothing more. But, his own efforts were not entirely his. Mo Shizong had a hand on it. He met him on the stairwell and talked about things with him. He told him about the difficulties he encountered at work. Then, Mo Shizong would help him. 

“Do you know. I just told Mo Yuan that I relied on my own strength. I didn’t expect to be slapped on the face with the truth this soon.”

Miao Shuya was astonished, “You met Mo-zong?”

“Mn, I did.”

“Was he the one that told you about this matter?”

“Is there anything wrong with it?”

She ignored her colleagues’ words and went back to her office.

Though, deep inside, she still worried about Mo Yu. Mo Yuan had a treacherous mind and was proficient in scheming. Someone popped out without warning and threatened his position. That person could rob him of everything. Could he accept it just like that?

Just when her worry peaked, she received a call from Ye Wei. Ye Wei was as impudent as ever, “Leave Mo Yu.”

Miao Shuya, “……”
