Chapter 126 Closed

Eventually, after Tryndall had offered that the two of them should team up on the quest they were doing, the two of them went their separate ways, reminding each other to keep each at least once a day. With that, Valyr left the restaurant with a light smile on his face as he waved Tryndall goodbye, thinking about how nice it was to catch up with an old friend.

Though, once he turned his head to face away Tryndall, this smile was quickly replaced with a solemn expression as two thoughts lingered in his mind. The first one was regarding the quest Damian had given to him.

Naturally, with how the two of them reminded each other to keep in contact before they left to do their own devices, it went without saying that Valyr had agreed to the proposition, even after considering the fact that there was a chance the reward would be split between the two of them. After all, he had no clue how to even start the quest.

He had no leads to follow at all.

On the other hand, Tryndall, being part of the Adventurer's Guild, was surprisingly given a lead to follow regarding the quest, which he unhesitatingly shared with Valyr once the latter had accepted to the proposition. According to the intel the Adventurer's Guild had given him, the Clossbay Killer was determined to have either a class or a subclass that was related to cooking.

As to how the Adventurer's Guild had reached that conclusion, Tryndall explained to Valyr that the guild had recorded all of the incidents that involved the Clossbay Killer, noting down how the latter went about their way in killing their targets. From what he was told, the Clossbay Killer made sharp, clean cuts in between their target's joints, as well as a plethora of other reasons that eventually certified that the person had great knowledge or experience in cooking.

Aside from that, he was also told that the Adventurer's Guild wouldn't have been able to reach this clue if not for the aid of the Mercenary Guild, which answered one of the questions he had early on regarding how he and Tryndall got the same quest even though their quests came from different guilds.

Then again, after taking a look at the sun's current position, Valyr decided to place the thought regarding the quest with the Clossbay Killer for now, soon focusing on the other thought that lingered in his mind.

Of course, that thought was none other than the two titles he could obtain from the city, his original goal.

"If my memory serves me correct, the place I have to find in the city is the city's Combat Training Hall," Valyr muttered to himself, trying to recall as much memories as possible regarding him traversing the city in his past life. "Hopefully it's still open by the time I get there."

With class guilds being established in order to certify that one had a class aligned with the class guild they entered, it went without saying that a need for certification regarding various skills eventually came to fruition, with training halls being the answer to that problem.

Similar to class guilds, training halls could be found all over the world of Veldanyr, with the smallest level of settlements housing them being towns. However, unlike class guilds, which stood as a separate entity from the kingdoms and empires that were scattered all over the planet, training halls were buildings set up by the settlements themselves, being directly funded by the settlement they were located in.

Then again, that did not stop training halls from being similar to class guilds in another aspect, which was to have all things that each training hall owned to be accessible from any training hall, may it be a technique, a skill, or even a piece of equipment. In any case, the thing that separated training halls from class guilds the most was the fact that there existed only two types of training halls.

On the other hand, the types of class guilds numbered in the hundreds.

With there only being combat and production training halls, it was no surprise that each type of training hall catered to a wide array of skills. Combat training halls catered to multiple fighting styles, combat arts, and weapons, while production training halls catered to multiple lifestyle skills, as well as professions such as forging, tailoring, and the like.

Unfortunately, even though Valyr had employed most of his AGI stat, by the time he had found where the city's Combat Training Hall was located, he was left standing at the closed entrance of the hall with a somewhat glum look on his face. Looking at the position of the sun before returning his vision to what was in front of him, Valyr could not help but let out a light sigh. "So close."

"If I headed straight to the training hall rather than talk about the quest with Tryndall, I would've probably gotten the two titles already." With this in mind, Valyr could not help but scratch his head in slight frustration. After that, he asked one of the people that loitered near the hall as to when it would open, which he obtained without much fuss.

Reminding himself to head to the training hall early tomorrow, Valyr decided that he should find an inn to stay at while he was in the process of obtaining the title, as well as completing the quest from Damian. Walking down the streets, the somewhat glum expression on his face lingered, finding it somewhat regrettable that he missed the chance to get the titles earlier.

After some time, Valyr lightly shrugged his shoulders as he spoke his thoughts out in a soft mutter. "The only thing I'm losing from not getting it today is the extra time I could've used to enhance the title. Comparing it to the fact that I met up with an old friend and even found a lead to follow for the quest Damian gave me out of nowhere, I've definitely gained more than lost."

Thud.

Just as he was lost in his thoughts thinking about what had transpired today, Valyr bumped into a young girl without him knowing, making the latter fall on her butt as she slightly sobbed. Noticing what he had done, he quickly apologized before extending out his arm to the girl to pull her up. "I'm sorry. I didn't know where I was looking. Are you alright?"

However, just as the girl was about to grab onto his arm so Valyr could pull her up, the young girl's gaze shifted towards his face, prompting her pupils to slightly shrink in fear as she stood up on her own before hastily wiping off the tears that started to stream down her face.

"Yes! I'm fine! Apologies for bumping into you!" Stammering her words, the young girl swiftly responded to Valyr's question before hastily leaving the premises, leaving the latter in a bout of confusion as he could only stare at the young girl's gradually fading silhouette.

"What the…?"

"Did I do something wrong?"
