Chapter 178 A Solemn Departure

By the time Valyr woke up from his slumber, his body felt surprisingly energized, prompting him to get out of his bed just as the warm rays of the sun were about to peer through his window. Inwardly laughing to himself that he had gotten out of bed before the sun's rays peered through his window for once, he then went through his usual morning routine, only to recall in the midst of his showering that he would be leaving the village today.

"Ah, fuck." Cursing at this realization, Valyr's mood swiftly soured after that, only returning to normal after he had changed into a new set of clothes and made his way to the barracks' cafeteria.

Looking around the cafeteria, which was somewhat devoid of other people due to how early he had gotten up, Valyr went ahead and grabbed a hearty breakfast, thinking about the long journey he would take to get back to Clossbay. While doing so, he could not help but think about the village once more, and how he was going to miss it.

Fortunately, unlike yesterday, this slight forlorn feeling he felt swiftly disappeared, allowing him to finish the breakfast he had ordered within minutes. Nevertheless, he pondered as to why this feeling disappeared so quickly today, while it lingered for quite some time yesterday, eventually attributing it to the joyous and festive atmosphere surrounding the village during the celebration.

With that, he returned the now empty tray back to the cafeteria workers, thanking them before making his way back to his dormitory room to grab all of the items he would need for his stay in Clossbay. Unsurprisingly, he decided to bring the set of Intermediate Reinforced Elixir he had gotten from the dungeon to the journey, thinking that there was a possibility for him to break through to Rank 2 while at the city thanks to the Experience Pit.

Aside from that, he also grabbed all of the items he usually carried when in a long journey, eventually slinging a large bag around his chest before double checking to make sure that he had brought everything he would need during the journey, as well as his stay at Clossbay.

Once he was certain that he hadn't forgotten anything, he then made his way out of the barracks, being one of the only few people to be out and about in the village during this time of day. While making his way to where the carriage and horse shop were located, Valyr could not help but think about Tristan and the others, certain that Tristan and Damian would have definitely wanted to give him a farewell before he made his departure to Clossbay City.

"Then again, I've already talked about my departure today to Alfaera and the others yesterday. Plus, I've also spent most of the day yesterday along with them." With this thought in mind, Valyr could not help but chuckle to himself, thinking about the incidents that had occurred yesterday with either Damian or Tristan being the culprit. "Pretty sure that's more than enough of a farewell for them."

As he continued thinking about the stupid things the group had done during the celebration yesterday, Valyr eventually arrived at where the carriages and horses were being sold, glad to see that the shop owners were already awake. Apologizing to them for having them wake up early, he then got the carriage and the horses for the journey sorted with the help of the shop owners, lugging in all of the items he had carried onto the back of the carriage before doing a few last minute purchases for a few necessary items.

Thanking the two shop owners once more for their help, Valyr eventually got onto the carriage he had rented and signaled to the horses pulling the carriage to start moving. With how long it had taken for him to get to Clossbay in the past, Valyr decided to invest in one more steed pulling on the carriage, now having three steeds to pull on the carriage instead of the previous two.

Though he was unsure if a third steed would reduce the time it took for him to arrive at Clossbay and return to Astarto, the price he paid was more or less the same as paying for two steeds back then, solely thanks to the effects of [Astarto's Beacon of Hope].

With that, it did not take long for Valyr to be in the outskirts of Astarto Village once more, pulling up the system map to make sure the carriage was heading in the right direction before allowing the horses to do their thing.

As he kept a watchful eye on the surroundings beyond them, Valyr went ahead and pulled up the two titles he had gained from the combat training hall back in Clossbay City. While doing so, he recalled the effects of the titles in his past life, wanting to see if anything about the titles had changed once the first public version of Greater Beyond had been released.

Ding!

At the very instant he had finished reading through the effects of the titles, aside from the fact that the titles were somewhat better than the titles he had come to know of in the past, the flames of battle in Valyr's body started to rekindle, his hands itching to fight someone.

Thankfully, this feeling eventually died down as he redirected his thoughts somewhere else, commanding the system to show him what unlocking the Extended NPC Feature Set truly entailed.

Ding!

As a notification sound resounded in his mind, which accompanied a string of notifications that had appeared in his field of vision, the expression on Valyr's face changed to that of interest when he started reading through them, only to change into that of slight confusion as he continued to read.

"Huh."

"That's weird."
