Chapter 212 A Better Class

"The Myriad Prodigies Tournament…" Repeating the part of Wells' statement that had piqued his interest, Valyr rummaged through his treasure trove of memories, eventually finding a memory that tackled the tournament Wells mentioned in greater detail.

Though it was indeed the largest and most prestigious tournament to be held within the Algerie Region, it was not unique by any means. Valyr recalled through his memories that there were similar tournaments held in the other regions of Veldanyr, their purpose being more or less the same, which was to find out who among the talented fighters and the prodigies were the best.

With that, he thought about the rewards one could hope to obtain during the tournament, recalling the rewards some of the players that had reached high ranking spots in the tournament in his previous life.  In fact, he could even remember the reward one player got when that person became the champion of the tournament, the prize the man had received being so precious that it was talked about in the forums for days on end.

Naturally, many envious players tried to snatch the reward from the man's hands, only to realize in the midst of their attempts that the man had not become the champion of the tournament for no reason.

Nevertheless, ever since that day, none of the players dared to steal the rewards of those that had participated in the tournaments and obtained high spots anymore… unless they were confident that they had the strength to overwhelm them.

"That was the true reason as to why they had me return to the family manor." Of course, Wells was oblivious to what was going on in Valyr's mind, instead responding to the murmurs of Valyr from earlier. "If my sense of time and memory still serves me correctly, then the tournament shall be held exactly six months from now."

'Six months…' Hearing these words come out of Wells' mouth, Valyr rubbed his chin as he pondered over it in silence, thinking about the other things he had to do in the Algerie Kingdom once more. 'I need to head to the Algerie Kingdom within three months if I want to progress through my World Quest. That alone means that I'll be at the kingdom way before the Myriad Prodigies Tournament even starts.'

'However, Aster did say that there was the possibility of the Imperial Production Guild searching high and low for any traces of my movements since I'm a suitable candidate for the Four Pillars' Inheritance. If his speculations were true, then I'd be brought to the kingdom far earlier.'

"Should I head to the kingdom…?" Faintly voicing out the thoughts that lingered in his mind, Valyr lightly scratched his head as Wells watched him with a solemn expression.

Fortunately, it did not take long for him to come to a conclusion, recalling that there were a few things still shackling him to the city. "Aside from the fact that I just recently opened up the smithy, there's still that incident. I have to see that one to the bitter end."

"So, does that mean you're heading to the Algerie Kingdom sometime in the near future?" Wells looked at him with curiosity, to which Valyr shook his head in response.

"The opposite, actually. Then again, I'll be heading to the kingdom before the Myriad Prodigies Tournament starts due to some personal reasons."

Valyr let out a slightly awkward chuckle after that. "Now that I think about it, I'm still kind of fulfilling the goals your family gave you when they allowed you to leave your family's manor, even though I'm not intentionally doing so."

"I guess I'm just lucky." In response, Wells shrugged his shoulders before letting out a chuckle as well.

"In any case, what are you planning to do, now that you've escaped from your family's clutches once more?" Valyr looked at him with a curious expression. "Though your family did tell you to stay by my side, you're not really going to follow that, are you?"

"I mean…" Wells shrugged his shoulders once more. "Nothing really changes if I decide to stay by your side or not. After all, I only plan to continue pursuing the one thing I was pursuing back when I was still outside the surveillance of my family."

"The pinnacle of the spear, right?" As these words came out of Valyr's mouth, Wells nodded in agreement.

"Exactly," said Wells in response. "In fact, I feel like I would make greater progress in doing just that if I were to stay by your side. After all, you also use the spear."

"Well, I've already been certified to have reached the Adept level of spear proficiency, so I could definitely help you out on your journey." As Valyr said these words, leaving Wells in a slight stupor, he left the latter for a bit to attend to some of the customers, only to return to where the latter was a couple minutes later.

At this point, Wells' gaze towards Valyr seemed to be glistening, as if the latter was the beacon that would light the way towards his ultimate goal. Of course, Valyr noticed this gaze as well, which elicited a light chuckle to come out of his mouth, telling the former to not go overboard in asking him questions.

"Now that I think about it, have you ascended to Rank 1 yet?" Just as Valyr was about to impart a bit of his knowledge regarding the spear to Wells, this thought popped up into his mind all of a sudden. With his curiosity getting the better of him, he activated [Analysis] on him as the man responded to his query.

"I've already reached Level 10 a long time ago, but the all of the choices that were given to me regarding my Rank 1 class didn't seem to suit the goal that I had in mind." Saying these words, Wells had a bitter smile on his face as he shook his head.

 Ding!

With the information that had appeared in his mind regarding Wells confirming the man's words, Valyr closed the screen before continuing to listen to him speak, somewhat curious as to what choices he had regarding his class.

"I did get Spearman of the Flowing Waves as a possible class choice, which bolsters my strength with the spear, as well as my fighting style. However, in terms of purpose and intent, I feel like it's still lacking that little something." As these words came out of Wells' mouth, Valyr swiftly checked through his memories as to how rare the class Wells had mentioned was, finding out that it was a Rare class a few seconds later.

"What kind of class are you looking for, then?" Hearing the question that came out of Valyr's mouth, it did not take long for Wells to respond, giving off the feeling that he already had an idea of what his ideal class wanted to do.

"If possible, I want it to be similar to Spearman of the Flowing Waves wherein it would focus on a flexible fighting style. However, I hope for the class to not focus mainly on the fighting aspect of wielding the spear. Instead, I want the class to focus mainly on the art of the spear itself, achieving a high level of mastery and understanding with it." Saying these words, Wells' eyes seemed to glisten. Though, not long after, his eyes dimmed as a bitter smile hung on his face soon after.

"Then again, that's only if a class like that exists in the first place." Letting out a wry chuckle, Wells let out a sigh.

"But it does." In contrast to Wells' gloomy mood, a light smirk adorned Valyr's face.

"You mean…?" Reading between the lines of Valyr's words, a faint glimmer of hope appeared on Wells' face, gazing at the former, wondering if the next words that would come out of Valyr's mouth were the ones he wanted to hear.

Fortunately, they were.

"Want me to tell you how to get it?"
