Chapter 650 Four Pillars: Forming Connections

Chapter 650 Four Pillars: Forming Connections

Looking at the notification that he had received from the system, Valyr beamed a smile as he looked at the being that stood before him.

While he was wondering how he would be able to communicate with the being in front of him and make sure the other side would understand his words clearly, the young man was reminded of a feature that almost everyone heavily used in the past.

As Greater Beyond was a game that was played by everyone all over the world in the past, that meant there were often times where players from two differing countries would talk to one another, only to not understand what the other side was saying due to the language barrier.

Fortunately, the game's system had a built-in chat feature wherein one's words would be automatically translated to the other side while messaging.

Because of this, players from all around the world were able to band together for a common purpose, such as in the case of the final battle had taken part in.

However, the auto-translate feature was not only limited to the languages on Earth.

In fact, it also applied to the various languages the races in Greater Beyond spoke as well.

Though language skills were mandatory if one wanted to speak with other races without a worry in the world, the auto-translate function was more than enough if one's goal was to only have a short conversation with the other side.

Such as in the case of what Valyr was currently trying to achieve.

"Hello there. Can you understand what I'm saying?" Opening up the chat function in front of him, Valyr went ahead and sent a greeting message to Vlrvadh.n/)0vElb1n

Ding!

In response, a screen popped up in front of Vlrvadh as a sound accompanied its appearance. Looking at the screen, the being did not understand the words that were being displayed, only for it to be converted into the language it understood not long after.

Finally realizing what the unknown being in front of it was trying to do, Vlrvadh looked at Valyr with its eyes widened in slight disbelief as its body language showed a hint of vigilance.

"I can." Though it seemed like Vlrvadh had not interacted with the system's chat function before, the being did not take too long to send a short response back to Valyr, causing the latter to smile widely.

Then, sometime later, the being sent another message, prompting Valyr to choose his words wisely. "What are you? You don't look like any of the other people I've seen before."

"I am a human. To be more specific, I am a human from the surface." Thinking about his response for a bit, the young man eventually decided to be blunt with his words.

"I accidentally stumbled across this place after a hole connecting the two had been made. I have no intentions of causing you any harm," he added not long after.

"A human from the surface..." As Valyr's messages were considerably long, it took a while for Vlrvadh to read through all of it. However, once it was finished reading, it looked at Valyr with immense disbelief as it frantically sent another message.

"You really came from the surface?"

"I did." Responding to the question, Valyr nodded as he flashed a slight smile at Vlrvadh. "Would it be possible to know who you might be?"

Reading through Valyr's first reply, the being's expression turned jubilant as it seemed to be relieved. Though, after seeing that Valyr was still looking at it, Vlrvadh recalled the question the young man asked that came after.

"Though most of us here don't have names, I have been given the name Vlrvadh by the Sapient One." Punching a series of characters on the screen with its nails, the being eventually sent a reply back to Valyr. "What is your name?"

"Valyr. Nice to meet you as well," replied Valyr with a slight grin. "Now, as someone who has come from the surface, I have a lot of questions to ask you as I don't know much about the underground."

"However, if I'm understanding your words correctly, it seems like it would be better for me to ask the being called the Sapient One instead?"

Reading through Valyr's words, Vlrvadh looked at its screen for a bit before sending a reply back. "Though I am quite intelligent compared to others, you are indeed correct in assuming that the Sapient One is the one that knows the most out of all of us."

"Would it be possible for me to talk the Sapient One, then?" asked Valyr once more, only to receive a reply from Vlrvadh that caused him to smile once more.

"It would be no problem for you to do so. I and many others have been tasked to search the paths for traces of your kind, after all."

"Wollof em." Moving its screen to the side, Vlrvadh turned around as it beckoned for Valyr to follow after it.

Though, before it could take a single step, the being realized something as it inputted a few characters into its screen.

"Follow me."

Inwardly letting out a chuckle at the being's actions, Valyr faintly nodded as he followed Vlrvadh from behind, sending a message to the party chat not long after that he might not be able to meet with them at the agreed upon time.

After receiving a response from the others that it was fine, only then did Valyr return his attention to where Vlrvadh was walking as they began to head deeper into the Dimlight District.

...

"If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by your earlier words that you were tasked to search for traces of our kind?" Continuing to walk through the narrow corridors of Dimlight District, Valyr decided to pass the time by conversing with Vlrvadh.

"I meant what I said." Looking at the screen that appeared before it, Vlrvadh stared off into the distance for a bit before replying. "We have been tasked by the Sapient One to take a look through the various paths in search of possible traces from the surface."

"Did the Sapient One send out such a task just recently or does this happen quite often?" asked Valyr in response. Though he knew it was more likely for it to be latter, he would undoubtedly be astounded by the sheer coincidence of it all if the being answered the former.

It took some time for Vlrvadh to respond, having to maneuver through a few twists and turns on their path along the way. "The Sapient One had sent out the task long ago. In fact, I and many that came before me have searched the corridors for a long time already."

"Fortunately, as someone who has spent over 10 years in continuously searching these corridors, I can finally bring joyous news to the Sapient One."

After sending those words, Vlrvadh then explained that the Sapient One had sent out the command to them over a thousand years ago after a couple of scouts have found out that the surface was free from the apocalypse.

Though the scouts also mentioned to the Sapient One that the city ruins were now filled to the brim with beings that only resembled them, the Sapient One still pushed for them to routinely search the corridors of Dimlight District for traces of actual humans.

Naturally, many were against the command since they felt like doing such a thing would end up to be futile. Only a few among them were optimistic that they would find traces at some point, such as Vlrvadh.

Then, after explaining their people's reasons for exploring the corridors, Vlrvadh began to ask Valyr a few questions regarding things about the surface, which the latter unsurprisingly answered without problems.

After the being explained to Valyr that the questions had been given to it by the Sapient One in order to make sure they truly came across someone from the surface, the young man then told Vlrvadh the reasons why they were on the surface.

Of course, he did not mention anything regarding the Triad Gates, or their other goals in exploring the place.

While doing so, he also mentioned the fact that he and his people were inside the inheritance.

Though, surprisingly, such information did not surprise Vlrvadh at all, as if he already knew such information beforehand.

"We're here." Eventually, after walking through multiple narrow corridors for around an hour or so, Valyr and Vlrvadh had finished their journey, with the former looking at the sight before him in admiration.

"Wow..."
