Chapter 52

Tong Yunrou sneered. If her mother, Chen Meihua knew what was happening now, would she regret having sponsored Bai Chu at that time?

Uncle Li had parked the car and coincidentally overheard Tong Yunrou and Tong Qingyan’s conversation when he entered the gate.

He could not help but frown as he said, “Miss Yunrou, , when the old madam was alive, I heard that she used to transfer money to Miss Bai Chu not because she had sponsored her. I believe it was to thank her!”

Tong Yunrou was overtaken by anger and she sneered before speaking to him in a mocking tone. “Before my mother passed away, she was a powerful woman in Sea City. Why would she need to show gratitude towards an orphaned child? Uncle Li, you’re just a driver. Who allowed you to comment on our internal matters? Get out.”

Other than sponsoring her as an orphan, Tong Yunrou could not think of any other reasons for her mother to transfer money every single year to that woman!

A flush of embarrassment spread on Uncle Li’s face and he left without saying anything further.

Tong Qingyan covered her lips in astonishment and looked at her aunt. “Could it be that this Bai Chu is the woman who snatched Uncle Xiuqi from you?”

Tong Qingyan was only eighteen years old and vaguely knew about her aunt loving the Duan Family’s third young master. She was not aware of the full story.

Tong Yunrou had a complicated expression on her face and she said in a solemn tone, “Qingyan, don’t mention this to anyone. This has to remain a secret between us.”

Tong Yunrou shivered in trepidation. If Duan Xiuqi got to know that Bai Chu had returned, then it would be useless even if her father used his death as a threat!

Tong Yunrou looked at the repayment letter and chuckled in disdain.

From the looks of it, Bai Chu was not having a good life and hence had become thick-skinned enough to ask the Tong Family to give her money.

Tong Yunrou went looking for the courier’s delivery bill. Couriers nowadays were all registered with the sender’s real name. Perhaps she could find some leads from there.

Tong Qingyan stood at the entrance and the shadow of her pretty figure was elongated under the indoor light’s reflection.

She suddenly wondered that there were too many people with the surname Bai these days!

After Bai Chuwei came out from the bath, she went to walk around the storeroom on the third floor. When she smelled the spiritual aura radiating from those piles of ingredients, she sighed and said, “It’s really a relaxing scent.”

Snowball, who had climbed up her shoulder squeaked. “It’s the smell of money.”

It was worth three hundred million yuan for goodness sake!

When Bai Chuwei recalled Duan Feihan’s generosity, she revealed a gentle smile. “Since you’re so handsome and generous, I will definitely cure your father.”

Immediately after, Bai Chuwei returned to her room and turned off the lights.

When Snowball saw Bai Chuwei closing her eyes, he was so surprised as if he had found a new continent. “Dear Ancestor, you’re sleeping!?”

Snowball believed that the most useless thing in this attic was the bed. It had to be known that Bai Chuwei had lived for five thousand years, and with the exception of sprouting wings and ascending to the heavens, there was basically no difference between her and a celestial being. Otherwise, she would not have casually given him wisdom just to relieve her boredom.

Sleep?

Only normal humans needed to sleep. It did not matter if Bai Chuwei slept or not.

The last time she slept was probably four to five decades ago.

Bai Chuwei lazily responded. “En, I’m going to find Liu Zhen.”

The pack of medicine which she passed to Duan Feihan was insufficient to cure old man Duan’s stomach cancer. The illness required the usage of both the Spiritual Thirteen Needles and the medicine for him to be cured. However, she honestly did not wish to step into the Duan Family and therefore, she could only look at the next best option, which was to send an apprentice to carry out the acupuncture.

Even though Liu Zhen was not good enough as per her standard, he was considered a master in the world of ordinary people. Under the circumstances, it was best for him to do this.

Before they left the medicine hall, she had left a word with the still trembling Liu Zhen. “I’ll find you in your dreams tonight.”

The art of entering dreams was very simple and it posed no challenge for her.

However, Liu Zhen did not seem to be sleeping at this moment. After she waited for a minute, she became impatient.

Her slender fingers touched her chin and a trace of interest flashed in her beautiful eyes. Should she go take a look inside Duan Feihan’s dreams to see what he was dreaming about?
