59 Chapter 56 - Ragcraf

After meeting the prince, they immediately gave me the opportunity to be a royal guard.

"Ehh? Why should I?" I raised my eyebrow.

"It's an honor to work under me!" said prince Revi.

"I know that, but wouldn't it be better to work under the prime minister?" I retorted.

The prince was ashamed, but it was true. The royalty were basically a joke and the entire country relied on the prime minister's guidance. Without him, the country would have risked being ruined.

'But that wouldn't be smart of me, wouldn't it?' I thought.

"Sure, I'll be your guard," I accepted his offer.

"Wait... Really!?" he prince exclaimed.

"Yeah!" I cheerfully said.

We started introductions and I introduced myself as a wandering fighter, seeking entertainment.

"Emotion Manipulation - Obedience," I lightly muttered.

"Did you say something?" the prince asked.

"It's nothing! Let's go back, shall we?" I smiled.

The prince and I got inside the carriage and we headed back to Elroad.

"Oh-ho? There's a new hero, I've heard?"

"Oh, yes! Prime minister, I've also heard that the prince got him as a royal guard?" responded a soldier.

The prime minister was surprised, "That boy? It's a miracle that he has done. I guess I'll congratulate him or something."

Rubbing his beard, the prime minister walked away to his carriage, where he will be transporting back to Elroad. He was currently dealing with politics with the Belzerg and wanted to cut ties between it and Elroad.

Belzerg was the country that was next to the demon border. Constantly in a war against the demons, their supply of income mostly came from Elroad, in which in return gave finance. Cutting ties with Elroad would be disastrous to Belzerg, meaning they wouldn't be able to defend against the constant attacks.

This was the secret plan the Demon King made up. Cutting off their resources and supply, what can a hungry lion do? With Elroad cutting ties and possibly integrating it with the demon king's territory, the demon king's army might never fall.

Travelling to Elroad by carriages normally takes a few weeks, but Elroad was the richest country. With so much money, they could afford something faster.

"Tell me more about the dragon slayer," the prime minister said.

Releasing a intimidating and heavy aura, the guard responded, "According to our report, he's a young kid."

"Young? Okay, what else?" said the prime minister.

"He can store things somewhere else, destroy things easily, and can use this colorful explosion of lights."

"Hoh... It reminds me of a certain someone..." Ragcraft thought while remembering the Demon King.

"Who could it be?" asked the guard nervously.

Ragcraft glared at the guard, who started getting scared.

"You don't have the qualifications! Be silent!" Ragcraft shouted.

The guard shut his mouth immediately and prayed inside his head, hoping he wouldn't be fired.

I was helping out Ragcraft before he came. How? Manipulating everyone under my control. I first made the prince bring every servant into one building and casted an AOE manipulation magic. Then, I just brought up one by one every guard, official, and nobles until no one escaped my control.

"If my magic could just cover the entire country..." I sighed.

"Do you need me, master?" asked a butler.

"You can go away, shoo shoo," I waved my hands at him.

Slowly on my hand, a thin tattoo was being formed. It was the tattoo that represented I was one of the Demon Generals. According to this country's intelligence network, the Prime Minister is supposed to arrive today.

Outside, sounds of marching could be heard.

"They finally came, huh?" I smiled happily.

I dashed to the main courtroom where they will soon enter.

"Prime minister Ragcraft has arrived!" yelled the guards who opened the castle door.

Ragcraft came in surrounded by fully equipped guards. In his perspective, today had to be calm normal day where they celebrate his success humbly, but no one came. Loud footsteps could be heard from the hallways. From there, servant, guard, officials, everyone you can name ran.

"Everyone! You don't have to rush to see me," said Ragcraft apologetically.

No one answered. They all came in and stood up, nothing more.

"Everyone?" said Ragcraft once again, but this time a bit timid.

"It's finally time Ragcraft that you came. Do you know how long it took you?"

Ragcraft could feel someone hug him from the back.

"Guards!" he said.

"Ah-! Don't worry, they are under my control now," I exclaimed.

Ragcraft turned around to see a young girl who seemed to know him.

"Ragcraft, leader of our Intelligence Division, it's time for you to bow down before me."

Ragcraft was for five years a politician, but for the first time he had never seen some eyes that murky and endless.

"I'm your new demon general, Satou Touma. I was sent by the Demon King to help you. It's nice to meet you," I said happily, showing my insignia on my hand.

Ragcraft smiled wryly.

"You bastard... You didn't have to make it a big deal," he said, with sweat dropping from his forehead.

I laughed back at his comment and gave my hand, which he grabbed on to. It sweaty, but inwardly, I felt Ragcraft's delight on the addition.

- In Axel -

Kazuma took the morning newspaper while Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness were hanging out in the living room.

"Today's news... there's... a new demon general?... some politics with Elroad... and a new dragon slayer?"

Kazuma felt annoyed at the fact there was a new hero. Without hesitation, he ripped the paper in half.

"I wanted to read that later!" complained Aqua.

"You can't even read with your intelligence!" said Kazuma, smashing her head.

With Aqua knocked out, Kazuma dragged Aqua out while Darkness fantasized about it happening to her. Megumin just followed them on the back.

"Guess we'll go back to questing..." said Kazuma lazily.

Bringing the party to the guild, their wild adventure starts again!
