Chapter 1 – Part 2 out of 2

Wang Haiyan replied, “You eat first; I will tell you after.” Jiang Tao used the time while the head nurse responded to her message to quickly eat a few mouthfuls.

When she was halfway through her meal, Wang Haiyan put away her phone and looked at Jiang Tao with a smile. “You are so good-looking, and you don’t have a boyfriend yet?”

Jiang Tao had a bad feeling about the familiar topic. She shook her head in response, lowering her head to stuff food into her mouth.

Wang Haiyan asked, “There must have been many boys chasing you when you were in college, right?”

Jiang Tao replied, “There were only five boys in our class, and all of them had girlfriends.”

Most of them were boys from other majors.

With Jiang Tao’s small face, she could have been a candidate at any college, and there was no shortage of suitors.

But the fact was that Jiang Tao really did not have many suitors. She had an introverted and quiet personality and hardly participated in any club activities. She had basically been in the dormitory, teaching building, library, and cafeteria for four years at the university. It was difficult for boys from other departments to get in touch with her, while the boys in her department were either already taken or not to her liking.

After graduating, she rotated at a hospital in the Imperial Capital for two years to study and accumulate experience. She was so busy that she had no time to fall in love and then returned to her hometown, a third-tier city, as planned.

“Have many people introduced you to a blind date?” Wang Haiyan asked Jiang Tao.

Jiang Tao nodded slowly. Not only did relatives and friends inquire about her, but even the old ladies, whom she only met a few times in the community, tried to set her up on dates. Jiang Tao realized how popular nurses are in the dating market after returning to Tong City, second only to teachers, civil servants, and doctors.

Her grandmother hoped she would get married soon to a good man who was reliable in all aspects. Jiang Tao did not resist marriage, so whenever her grandmother found a suitable blind date, she would try to connect with them.

However, the monthly pace of blind dates made Jiang Tao resistant to the word. Too many failures have led her to become somewhat resistant to the word “blind date.”

Although Jiang Tao had successfully convinced her relatives and friends to stop screening her, she didn’t expect the head nurse to find her.

“Xiao Tao, we are all busy, so I won’t play around with you. I like you,” the head nurse said.

Jiang Tao had to admit that the head nurse was really gentle with her.

“Of course, I like you. First, because you are good-looking and never play tricks. Second, because your professional skills are strong enough, and you seldom make mistakes. It’s not because I’ve been thinking about introducing you to a blind date.”

The words made Jiang Tao laugh, and she relaxed a lot.

After eating and drinking, Jiang Tao’s white cheeks turned light pink, like a peach on a branch, just about to ripen. Wang Haiyan thought, “Who wouldn’t like such a girl?” She went straight to the point and introduced Cao An, her cousin’s son, to Jiang Tao.

Jiang Tao looked at Cao An’s photo with curiosity. The man in the photo was casually dressed, sitting on a sofa, peeling an orange, with his elbows on his knees and his head down.

Jiang Tao politely praised him.

Wang Haiyan continued to introduce Cao An’s other conditions. He graduated from a key university in the capital and had been helping out in his family’s company since he came back. He was thirty years old, a little older than Jiang Tao, but he had a very good figure, as seen in the photo. He was rich, and the two shopping malls in their city belonged to his family.

His character was good, and he hadn’t been in a relationship until now.

“With such good conditions; I’m afraid they’ll look down on me,” Jiang Tao said awkwardly.

Wang Haiyan encouraged Jiang Tao to give it a try, “If you are interested, try to have a meal together first, and don’t worry about anything else.”

Jiang Tao was hesitant, but the head nurse was so enthusiastic that she did not refuse.

She asked in a low voice, “He really doesn’t mind my family background?”

Wang Haiyan replied, “Absolutely not. I am reliable in my work.”

Jiang Tao blushed slightly and said, “Then, please arrange it for me.”

After dinner, Grandma went out for square dancing, and Jiang Tao cleaned up the kitchen before sitting on the sofa to rest.

A notification sound came from WeChat, a new friend application. The nickname was “Cao An” and the remarks said, “Introduced by head nurse Wang Haiyan.”

Jiang Tao clicked “Agree.”

Cao An’s profile picture was a night sky, and his circle of friends was blank.

At this time, the other party sent a message: “Nurse Jiang, good evening.”

Jiang Tao replied, “Good evening.”

Cao An asked, “The head nurse showed you my photo?”

Jiang Tao replied, “Well, I saw it.”

Cao An asked, “Can you accept it?”

Jiang Tao was stunned but replied, “Yes, is there any question?”

Although she didn’t see it clearly, Jiang Tao was sure that Cao An looked good. His complexion was dark, and he was not ugly at all. She was too tall, only 1.65 meters, and probably could only reach his shoulders, but this was not something she could not accept. What mattered was how she felt after meeting him.

Cao An responded, “No problem. She also showed me your photo.”

Jiang Tao knew that Cao An was interested in the photo of her work badge that the head nurse showed him, so the head nurse came to discuss it with her and introduce them.

Jiang Tao asked, “Is there something wrong with my photos?”

Cao An replied, “It’s beautiful. I mean, since you and I are comfortable with first impressions, can I treat you to dinner?”

Jiang Tao responded, “Of course, blind dates are like this.”

Cao An asked, “When are you free?”

Jiang Tao flipped through the shift schedule and replied, “Wednesday and Sunday at noon are fine. Which day is convenient for you?”

Today was Monday, and Cao An chose Wednesday.
