Chapter 289 Leah's Sad Story
"That sounds so terrible. Being stuck in a small cave for days without any food or water, I didn't even want to imagine myself being in their shoes." Elle was visibly surprised that she unconsciously covered her mouth with her hand.
Elle then stared at the women Yuan rescued, they appeared to be in perfect condition as there was not a single wound or visible scar in their bodies and she felt something unusual about it.
'Since they've been stuck in the cave for a few days without any food or water, how come they appeared to be perfectly healthy? It's strange.' Elle thought, finding them quite suspicious.
Since these women have been stuck within the cave for a few days, they appear very weak, fragile, and can barely move. However, that wasn't the case with these women as they appeared to be perfectly healthy and didn't look sick at all, it was as though they'd never been captured by the goblins and stuck in the cave in the first place.
After wondering for a moment, Elle turned to see Yuan and asked, "Yuan, I'm confused here."
"About what?" Yuan asked.
"About these women," Elle replied. "You said they were stuck inside one of the chambers within the cave for a few days without any food and water, right?"
'Oh, I see what she's getting at... After all, witnessing many women who have been trapped in a cave for days without food or water in great health is unheard of. It's no surprise she was staring at them as if they were exotic animals.' Yuan thought, smiling inside.
"Yeah. So what about it?" Yuan made a poker face and acted as though he didn't understand what she was getting at.
"You little...!" Elle's face twisted seeing Yuan making a poker face, but she managed to control her composure as she remembered just how strong Yuan was.
Elle released a long sigh and with a calm voice, she said, "You know very well what I'm talking about. So don't act like you don't know anything." n(.0velbIn
Yuan stared at Elle for a moment, and said, "Well, when we found them trapped inside the cave their condition wasn't very good and they were on the verge of death. But thanks to me, they're healed and in good shape now."
'Healed them? How? What kind of magic did he use to heal them? What tier healing magic did he use on them?' she thought.
"Can I ask how you manage to heal them?" Elle was very intrigued about the spell Yuan used to heal these women, even though she knew Yuan wouldn't tell her anything.
"It's a secret." Yuan replied with a calm voice, as he didn't want to reveal how he healed the women, and continued, "Alright, let's stop this matter here, and do what we came here for."
"Fine by me." Elle reluctantly nodded as she didn't want to get on the bad side of Yuan and his wives.
Seeing the women eager to meet their families, Yuan suddenly remembered how he was so desperate to meet his childhood friend for one last time before his death. Unfortunately, that wish was never fulfilled as it was too late for him to look for her whereabouts.
'I've wasted too much time doing useless stuff now, it's time for me to get serious and find a way back to earth so I can meet her.' Yuan said to himself inwardly with a destination look on his face.
'If it weren't for these women, I would have forgotten about Lulu once again.' Yuan sighed.
"Thank you for understanding, Mr. Yuan. We'll now take our leave then," One of the women slightly bowed at Yuan and his wives before leaving the Hunter Association.
Then the other women also bowed slightly towards Yuan and left the hunter association hurriedly. Yuan and his wives didn't mind this, as the women were too eager to reunite with their families after spending some hellish nights at the goblins' hideout.
However, Leah didn't go with the other women for some reason and stood there with an awkward look on her face.
Seeing Leah didn't go with the other, Yuan asked, "Miss Leah, aren't you eager to meet your family as well?"
"Ah, I...I don't have one." Leah replied in a low voice staring at the floor, as she was afraid to make eye contact with Yuan.
Yuan and his wives looked at Leah for a moment in silence as they didn't expect this kind of reply from her, no wonder she looked sad when the other women left the association building to reunite with their families.
After a moment of silence, Yuan asked. "What? You don't have a family? What happened to them?"
"T-They were killed by the goblins..." Leah's eyes became moist as she said that, she wiped her tears and said, "A few days ago we returned from our distant relative's house on a wagon. In the evening we're attacked by a group of goblins, we try to resist and fight against them..."
"But...but weren't strong enough to go against a group of goblins..." Leah said while sobbing as tears rolled down her cheeks.
Since Leah and her family were only a low-level family of mages, the goblins overpowered them with their large number. However, despite their large number, Leah and her family didn't give up and fought against the goblins with everything they had.
Unfortunately, a large goblin appeared all of a sudden before them. And with a single swoop, the goblin killed her father, who was a third-circle mage.
Then the goblins captured her mother and, and raped her mother in front of her and tortured her until she ended up dead from blood loss before bringing her to their hideout.
Once the goblins brought her to their hideout, the same thing happened to Leah. However, instead of being tortured to death, she was repeatedly raped by the goblins. Hence her condition was considerably good compared to the other women in the chamber.
"I see... What happened to her was something I didn't want to happen to any other woman in the world. Leah, you're a strong-willed and compassionate woman. If it had been anyone else instead of you, they would have committed suicide." Yuan said in a bittersweet voice, after hearing what happened with Leah's parents and how she ended up in the goblins' hideout.
