Chapter 50.1

Chapter 50 – Answer To The First Question

The fierce energy of being unable to control his emotions added to the murderous aura in the surrounding. At that moment, madness began to seep into Theros’ eyes and his hand turned towards the sword he was wearing by his waist.

“Stop there, alright?”

The cold blade pressed against Theros’ neck. His skin would be cut if he moved clumsily.

“…”

He was unable to sense the other energy coming from behind as he was concentrating all his attention on the man standing in front of him. It was clearly a mistake and a defeat on his part. Theros ground his molars and stared at the man in front of him.

Kaligo raised his eyebrows with his arms folded in front of his chest. “Kyrian.”

“Yes, my lord.”

“Where have you been?”

“I am also a human being so I did my business.”

“…” Squinting his eyes at him, Kaligo continued to talk while alternately looking between Theros and Kyrian who were both staring at him. “Looking at it now, you two must have known each other.”

“Yes,” Kyrian said as he glanced at Theros. “I know this guy here very well.”

“Then have a conversation with each other. I’ll go now.”

“Yes, there is a carriage waiting at the front door.”

“I know.” Kaligo walked across the garden to the main gate, leaving the two men alone.

Until he left the front door and got into the carriage, Kyrian’s blade did not leave Theros’ neck. And not long after, they heard the sound of the carriage leaving.

“Do you want to do it again? I think you already know the victory and defeat back in the Grand Duke’s mansion,” Theros, who missed his chance with the Grand Duke, spoke in a sharp tone with Kyrian, who was blocking him.

Kyrian responded with a smirk, “Theros—a dog chasing after rats in the front yard, and a dog fighting with his life to protect his owner in the hunting grounds.”

“…”

“You don’t think that we fight with the same power, right?”

“…”

Kyrian slowly removed the sword from Theros’ neck. He might have to kill him if Theros had gone on a rampage and chased after Kaligo to the end, but Theros seemed to have a good grasp of his rationality.

He walked slowly in front of Theros. “Why are you attacking the Grand Duke?”

“…”

‘So he didn’t see it.’

Indeed, if Kyrian happened to recognize Ashia, then he would rush at her like a mad dog. Anyhow, the person Kyrian holds a grudge against was the same as the person the Grand Duke had in mind. He never thought that the Kaligo Ashia was talking about would be the same person as Grand Duke Kaligo.

‘Is this supposed to be a good thing…’

Theros sighed. This man hated her enough to kill her, but if Kyrian saw Ashia, he wouldn’t be able to hurt her in the meantime.

“Why don’t you answer me?”

“…You don’t need to know.”

Theros turned his back and started walking through the garden.

Raising his eyebrows, Kyrian closely followed behind him, “Is it because of that woman earlier?”

Theros’ steps stopped. “You saw?”

“No.”

“…”

“I only saw the Grand Duke hugging her. As I said before, I was in a hurry.”

“…”

“But are you really going to fight His Grace the Grand Duke just because of that woman? That would be absolutely crazy, man.” His cheerful smile was like a child in front of a fire show.

’If he was a man who hated women, then I would say that woman was someone he loved. I only saw a little bit of her, but I think the Grand Duchess candidate Redin was talking about was that woman.’

“Theros, she will be Her Grace the Grand Duchess.”

Theros’ forehead that had returned to its usual indifferent look was crumpled roughly. “Who says?”

“His Grace the Grand Duke.”

’You stupid guy, you don’t even know who that person was, and I’m telling you, that was your Grand Duchess to be.’

He wanted to tell him that and correct the fact that it would be impossible to happen, but Theros held himself back.

Like most of the survivors of that village, Kyrian also lost his parents and siblings that day. The story behind that incident wouldn’t be important to the victims—the only thing that mattered was the person who was responsible for the fire that day, which took the lives of many villagers. Kyrian’s and the other survivor’s resentment were only directed toward Ashia. He couldn’t tell that in front of Kyrian when he was blinded by his own jealousy.

“We should wait and see for that to happen.”

“Even if we are from the Grand Duchy, we won’t condone those who will interfere.”

“…”

“I think it’s an opportunity that will never come again.”

Once again, he murmured in his heart towards, ’stupid guy.’

“Oh, so? Who was that person?”

The two of them, who had been reunited for the first time in a few years with a sword, began bickering. No, most of them were Kyrian’s one-sided questions.

The white moon disappeared behind the gray clouds. Staring at the sky outside the window with her arms folded, Aileen slowly opened her mouth.

“So, you’re saying you asked the Crown Prince to arrange for Grand Duke Kaligo and me to meet?”

“…Yes.”

“And?”

Aileen turned and looked at Lisa, who was lying on the bed. Lisa barely got up and sat down.

“And… what’s next?”

“Another story—another story you tried to deal with on your own without telling me.”

“…”

“Lisa.”

“…The Grand Duke had accepted Your Highness’ proposal… and spread rumors that there will be an engagement ceremony soon…”

“Haa….”
