Chapter 206 First Day

"I can't believe you managed to get two professional footballers to come here with you."

They had been training for a while and right now, the girls were sitting around each other on the floor to catch their breath for a few minutes before they continued what they were doing.

"They're not that popular maybe because they play in a low league but they're pretty good at what they do."

"Yeah, I watched their match against Manchester United and those two were the ones that mainly caught my attention, Dave is just a wonderful goalkeeper, an impenetrable rock and Mateo is just a good artist with the ball." Sofia expressed.

"Yeah, his playing style is sort of similar to Ciro's but he does a lot of different things differently." One of the girls said.

"Yeah and he's cute too."

"I didn't bring him here for you to check out how cute he is, Miranda," Sofia said before shooting a sharp stare at her.

"It's hard to miss," Miranda said to annoy her more.

Sofia didn't react immediately as she turned her gaze to where Dave and Mateo were passing the ball around and kept her gaze there for a while before she slowly got up from the floor.

"He should already have a girlfriend, what makes you think you stand a chance?" She said before she began to make her way to the two.

"These girls are pretty good with the ball, better than expected, they have what it takes to become good footballers," Mateo said before passing the ball to his teammate.

"Yeah, it's a shame their coach didn't show up today," Dave said before passing the ball back to him.

"Hey."

The two quickly turned to see Sofia standing there.

"Hey," Mateo said with the ball trapped under his foot.

"I guess it's time for you guys to start going, your ninety minutes are complete." She said,

"Yeah, but we're planning to stay a little longer," Dave said.

"Really?"

"Yeah," Mateo said before passing the ball to her.

"That's great." She said with a smile on her face.

'Now's my chance.' She said subconsciously with her gaze on the open space between Mateo's legs.

Before the winger knew what was going on, she sent the ball rolling toward Dave and where did the ball pass through? Right in between his legs.

"Ha! I finally got back at you for that nutmeg." She said with a hysterical look on her face.

"So, you've been thinking about that all this while." The winger said.

"Not really, I just remembered it as soon as I saw your legs like that." She said with a grin on her face.

The second and last session had just come to an end and right now the girls along with Dave had gone to grab some water by the sidelines but Mateo and Sofia were still on the pitch sitting close to each other.

"That's hilarious." She said with a little chuckle.

"You think so?" The winger said.

"Yeah." She replied with a nod. "So, which team are you guys going to face tomorrow?"

"Sheffield United."

"Oh, that sounds like it's going to be a boring match." She said,

"I think it's going to be the opposite," Mateo said.

"I don't think so." She said, shaking her head.

"Okay, if you say so but we'll be facing Barcelona after that at the Camp Nou." The winger said.

"Really?" She said before turning her gaze to him.

"Yeah."

"That's a match I'll love to see." She said,

"You think it's going to be an interesting match?"

"Um… not really, I just think it's going to be really fun to watch my team grind you guys into dust."

"Is that so? Don't be surprised if you see the opposite that day."

"There's no way you guys can beat Barcelona." She said.

"That's true on paper but football is a practical game, impossible things happen most times."

"Yeah, I guess that's right." She said.

There was a little moment of silence between the two before she picked up her phone from where it was lying on the floor beside her.

"Hey." She said to call back his attention. "So, I did a little google search on the both of you and realized that Dave is married to a woman named Emma Smith." She said before showing him the picture. "Do you know who she is? She bears the same last name as you and she sort of looks like you."

Mateo pulled his face closer as if he was trying to figure out who it was while he already knew who it was at a glance.

After looking at the picture for a while, he slowly pulled his head back.

"Yeah, she's my big sister." He replied casually. "You would have known that if you had just scrolled down and read what was written there."

"Big sister? So Dave's your brother-in-law." She said

"Yeah." He replied. "I didn't know you were googling about us, so what did you find out about me?"

"Nothing special." She replied. "It says on all the sites that you don't have a girlfriend but I know you're just trying to keep her out of the spotlight."

"Is that what you think?"

"Yeah, because I know you have a girlfriend."

"Um….sorry to disappoint you but they're right." The winger said.

"You're lying." She said,

"No, I'm not." He said. "Why are you so interested in my relationship status?"

"Nothing exactly." She said before turning her gaze to the side where his teammates were watching them from. "It's just that a certain someone is trying so hard to get your attention."

"Who?"

"Never mind, it's a good thing that you didn't notice her, but are you really single?"

"Yeah, why would I lie about it?"

"Yeah, it doesn't really make sense." She said before bringing her head down.

After resting for a little while, it was now time for the players to start heading back to the hotel.

The girls made sure to thank them properly before they left, especially Sofia who was the most grateful of them.

On their way back, Mateo just couldn't get off his phone and Dave had to say something about it.

"You know you can wait till we get back before you start texting Sofia, it won't do you any good if you get hit by a car." The goalkeeper said.

"Huh?" He said before raising his gaze to look at him.

"You know what I'm talking about."

"I don't know what you're talking about." The winger said before returning his gaze to his phone.

"Of course, you don't." The goalkeeper said before letting out a sigh. "She's a pretty nice girl and she'll make a good footballer."

"Yeah, but she doesn't want to be a footballer," Mateo said. "She says football is something she does for fun, her dream is to be a lawyer, she just graduated from high school."

"And that was all that was needed to get your attention, you seem to know a lot about her, and you just met her today." The goalkeeper said with a smile on his face.

"Leave me alone, Dave." The winger said before he turned his attention back to his phone and increased his pace.
